For well over a year the Sur-Ron LBX has been the UK’s most popular electric, off-road bike, and has also brought many new riders into the sport. It’s popularity has led to constant shortages and the need to place advanced orders to secure a bike. The lack of competition in this super-light, off-road category is now over, as we’re delighted to add the Talaria Sting to our range.
Although the Talaria Sting bears a striking similarity to the Sur-Ron LBX, it has a number of advantages, as it’s been developed to more than match its rival. Size, weight, power, torque and seat height are very similar, however, the Sting has 19% greater battery capacity, a wider swinging arm and a wider rear tyre to provide improved grip. The Sting also does away with a primary belt (or chain) drive and replaces this with a sealed, fixed ratio transmission box. Replacing a belt drive with a non-serviceable item improves reliability and reduces maintenance, both of which are especially important to off-road riders.
The Sting also offers a four-level, adjustable brake regen capability, which allows the rider to select the ideal engine braking for the type of terrain being tackled. Apart from providing more control on downhill gradients, greater regen will also maximise range, which has already been enhanced by the 19% increase in battery capacity. In addition, the Sting offers an extended, heavy duty motor guard, pro peg footrests and a more robust, single battery and loom connector.

How much do repairs cost?
The costs of shipping your product to our service center in Amsterdam.
A investigation fee of €49 euro for which we will investigate the entire product on the cause of defects.
After investigations are completed we will give you a quote with a cost and time estimate to repair the product. At this point you can agree or cancel.
Shipping the product back is free within The Netherlands but we charge a small UPS/DHL shipping fee for other countries.
How does the process go?

- Once it arrives we perform a diagnostic of the issue.
- We will consult you beforehand to approve the repairs and costs.
- After completing repairs and testing, we ship it back.
Can you fix electric skateboards?
Yes, it’s what we do best! Our electric skateboard repair and maintenance team is equipped with parts for most brands. We can also assist in repairing a Do It Yourself project that you built yourself. We also create custom batteries for these projects.

Where do i find my UPS tracking code?
You can find your trackingcode by going to your Orders dashboard and clicking on the specific order. The UPS codes will be under Shipment Tracking Details. See the picture below.

Can I pick up my order in a Fatdaddy store?
You certainly can! Just select “Pick up in Fatdaddy store” at checkout and choose the most convenient store location for you. You’ll receive an email as soon as your order is ready to pick up – just remember to bring your ID, so we know it’s you.
Do i have to pay extra duty and tax?
Since we are a EU registered company we pay all import and VAT duties for you in advance. This only applies to country’s within the EU.
How much does shipping cost?
Buying something online with Fatdaddy should be just as hassle-free as possible. Enter your address in your cart, or at checkout to calculate the shipping costs.
You can combined multiple items into one shipment, the price will not change and is for the total shipping lot, not per item. If we ship multiple boxes you will also receive multiple tracktrace codes.
Do you ship to my country?
We ship to every EU and a few US locations though direct, secure and insured shipping.
If you country is not listed during checkout you get the option to ‘ship it yourself‘ this means that you will arrange pickup and shipment of your order from the Fatdaddy warehouse to the destination. When your order ready to be picked up you get an email with all the pickup details, the shipping agent needs to sign a document when they pick it up. This shipping methode is for your own expense, own liability and has a restock fee of 10%.
You can check the estimated shipping time for orders on this page or on the checkout page. All accessories ship within 48 hours. When your order leaves our warehouse, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number – you can use this to follow your order’s journey to your door or to one of our stores. We work with international shipping partners to get your order to you as soon as possible, but delivery times vary depending on where you order from.

Talaria Sting Review: Similar to the Sur Ron but with some Key Differences
Overall, the Talaria Sting is larger and heavier with a bigger battery compared to the Sur Ron and that will appeal to riders who want something more substantial between their legs.

Why choose the Talaria Sting over the Sur Ron?
Stock and out of the box, both bikes are very good for riding streets and light trails.
The Sur Ron would be better for shorter riders and street riders since it is smaller and more lightweight.
The larger, more powerful Talaria seems to be more suited for heavier and taller riders who do more trail riding but the initially jumpy acceleration will take some getting use to.
A big consideration that many neglect in the decision making is maintenance and the Surron jackshaft and belt drive are notorious for needing repairs and replacing.
The Talaria eliminates that issue by using a sealed gearbox. Yes, the oil will need to be regularly changed from the gearbox, but that’s pretty simple compared to replacing bad bearings or a busted belt.
The heavier and bigger Talaria feels more like a motorcycle and it’s definitely more punchy off the line.
In conclusion, the Talaria is a bigger, heavier version of the Surron with some nice upgrades that should require less maintenance while the Surron is the time tested classic electric dirt bike with plenty of 3rd party accessories, parts and support.

Talaria Sting – Road Legal
The road going Sting is largely the same as its dirty sibling – same centrally-mounted 3000-watt electric motor, same brakes, same wheels, tyres, and fully adjustable suspension but this time it’s fully legal for road use. To make it compliant for the road, the Sting now comes with a new TFT digital dash display unit, road-legal headlight, taillight, and the obvious additions of indicators, mirrors, and a numberplate bracket.
Speed is restricted to 30mph, so the bike can be ridden on an AM licence. This means the road-going Sting can legally be ridden by anybody over the age of 16 who holds a valid CBT, any driver who passed their driving test before 2001, or anybody who holds a motorcycle licence.
The 60V, 38Ah lithium-ion battery can be charged in just 4 hours from any standard 3-pin UK plug socket. It’s fully removable too and can be taken out of the bike in a matter of seconds, making charging a piece of cake. Or, if you prefer, the battery can be charged by plugging directly to the battery when fitted to the bike.
With the same DNA as the off-road model, the L1e Sting gives the same grin-inducing ride, without having to worry about owning enough private land to make the most of it.
