A steel frame holds a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 fork with 150mm of travel. It’s got strong 4-piston brakes, grippy Maxxis rubber, and a headtube badge that will scare your children at night. Unit X

The Unit X has become a cult favorite among die-hard Kona fans. Maybe it’s the Cromoly frame. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s a bike packing monster, or its well-geared 12-speed drivetrain, or modular dropouts which give you the ability to run it as a single speed if that’s your thing. Maybe it’s because the rigid fork makes it that much more of a classic. We may never know why the Unit X is such a popular bike, but we can only guess it’s because it is one of the most practical machines in our lineup.

Lava Dome

Various sizes colors available now!

The Lava Dome is kind of like your best friend, but in bike form. It’s awesome in the dirt. It’s awesome to rally around town. It’s awesome poking around neighborhood singletrack, and it does it all in a dependable way. With strong 29” wheels that can accept up to a 2.6” tires, this bike is ready for everything in its path!

Sutra LTD

The Sutra LTD is our owner, Brad’s favorite way to commute so he can beat the traffic by shredding some trails on his way to BIKEALOT. The Sutra LTD is one of those bikes that just changes everything. You thought you were a mountain biker, but you find yourself sneaking off on adventures and enjoying the drop bars on the LTD. You thought you were a roadie but find yourself absolutely destroying singletrack when no one else is looking and suddenly it’s all you wanna do! That’s the best part about the Sutra LTD—it broke the mold of what a bike has to be. It’s got bigger tires, burlier construction, and enough mounts to hold a horse. But who needs a horse when this is your horse?

Dew

Small in Grey available now

The Dew is our classic all-around commuter/townie option for someone looking for an affordable, comfortable ride. The Dew is an efficient bike that features a drivetrain with a broad gear range and integrated brake and shifter levers. Equal parts functional and fun, the Dew is equally at home hopping curbs on urban rides, cruising the bike paths, or rallying your local taco truck time trial.

Big Honzo DL

One Extra Large now available.

The Big Honzo DL is exactly what the name implies. It’s a Honzo with bigger tires and a nice build kit featuring hydraulic disc brakes and 130mm of suspension. You’ll get a little extra squish thanks to the 2.8” tires that absorb bumps with ease. Comfortable geometry and an adjustable travel dropper post ensure you’re always at just the right position on your bike whether you’re climbing that big mountain or descending down your favorite flow trail!

Mahuna

The Mahuna strikes that perfect balance of mountain bike and all-around fun rig. Its 29” wheels easily roll over obstacles and provide a smooth, predictable ride. The fork features 100mm of smooth travel and together with the 29” wheels, helps keep bumps in check. Tubeless ready rims make it easy to upgrade your tires for an even smoother ride over our rocky hill country trails. You have complete control over stopping with powerful hydraulic disc brakes. An 11-speed drivetrain makes quick work of tough hills ensuring the Mahuna is as fun going up as it is going down.

Fire Mountain

Medium Mauve on sale for 650! Small XS in Gose Blue on sale for 699.

This is one of our most popular MTBs for enjoying the South Austin Trail Network, and it doubles as a sweet hybrid. The Fire Mountain is a Kona classic that brings some of the finer things to light. It runs a smooth-shifting 9-speed drivetrain to keep things manageable across varying terrain and hydraulic disc brakes to stop on a dime. With 100mm of adjustable suspension and sturdy tires aboard wider 27mm rims, the Fire Mountain helps build confidence off-road. Affordable and ready to shred, this is an awesome bike for South Austin and the Central Texas Trails!

Coco

Large 2022 in Dragonfly Green on sale for 699, and Medium 2023 in light Purple for 829

The Coco pays homage to the classic European step-through bicycle for easy mounting dismounting in any attire. The functional fenders keep you clean splashing through puddles, and add a splash of style. Internal routing keeps the lines clean and sleek, ample attachment points for racks or baskets, and puncture-resistant WTB Horizon Comp tires make flats a thing of the past. This is the bike that makes neighborhood cruising more fun, so we don’t blame you if you “forgot the tacos/beer/wine” and need to ride back to pick it up. Don’t be surprised if you turn a few heads on this bike!

Hula

The 24” Hula is designed for the kid that’s a bit too tall for the 20” Makena, is quickly progressing their skills and is moving up in the neighborhood shred ranks. Running 2.6” tires ensure maximum traction. The wheels are laced to QR hubs for ease of use. A 1x drivetrain for simple shifting, a 28-tooth chainring for easy pedaling and kid-friendly geometry make the Hula the perfect bike to grow up with.

Process 134 DL 29

The Process 134 DL 29 proved to be one of the most popular Konas of 2021. Was it the price? The spec? A combo of the two? We’re willing to bet this bike will be the belle of the ball again. Ultra-powerful SRAM G2 RS brakes keep speed in check while a RockShox Pike Select RC Charger DebonAir fork and Deluxe Ultimate shock provides a bottomless feel. Longer droppers are now coming stock in the smaller frame sizes, and with TranzX’s new RAD post with adjustable travel, everyone will be able to find their sweet spot.

“The Process 134 proves itself to be an absolute blast on the trails and the spirit of the Process 111 lives on through it.”

– IMB MagazineThis bike would shred Austin’s single track trails, or blaze down Spider Mountain.

Unit

If Leonard Smalls were to trade out his beefed-up Honda VT500 and pedal his way across the Arizona desert, we have no doubt it’d be aboard the Unit. Burly. Steel. Hardcore. Mean. Mean? Sure. The Unit does not mess around. Its single-speed design and Cromoly frame make its simplicity shine and keep the moving parts long-lasting for those big excursions. Gear mounts on the fork legs and several options for mounting water bottles mean you won’t go without any of the necessary gear no matter where you’re traveling.

For those who love the idea of transporting gear using an E-MTB, the El Kahuna SUV is the answer! Like its brother, the El Kahuna, the SUV features a strong aluminum frame and 29-inch wheels. The big differences are the additional front and rear lights and a luggage rack integrated into a fender so you can transport your camping gear more cleanly over hill and dale. A 100mm fork smoothes out the bumps in its path, and the powerful disc brakes ensure you’re always in control as you explore the campsite’s gravel paths and singletrack.

Kona launches new electric bike models with eMTB, gravel and commuter e-bikes

Bicycle manufacturer Kona has just broadened its lineup of electric bicycles with a series of new announcements for additional electric models.

Kona Remote 160 DL

The newly announced Kona Remote 160 DL electric mountain bike features the Shimano EP8 electric mid-drive system.

That new e-bike motor and drive unit was only announced at the beginning of the week, making the Remote 160 DL one of the first e-bike models to sport the new drive unit.

The Shimano EP8 motor gets paired with a 504 Wh battery integrated seamlessly into the bike’s down tube. Suspension includes 160 mm of travel front and rear with a RockShox Zeb Select Charger RC 2.1 DebonAir fork and RockShox Super Deluxe Select rear suspension.

The bike rides on 29er Maxxis Assegai EXO tires and includes a Trans-X dropper seat post.

For brakes, the Kona Remote 160 DL receives SRAM’s Code R hydraulic calipers and 200mm discs.

Pricing for the Remote 160 DL is set at 6,999.

Kona Remote 130

For a slightly more affordable 5,999, the new Remote 130 electric mountain bike offers the older Shimano STEPS E8000 electric motor and drive unit, though it gets a similar 504 Wh battery.

The bike offers 130 mm of travel in the rear from Fox Float Performance suspension and 140 mm of travel up front from a Fox Rhythm 34 Float suspension fork.

The Kona Remote 130 features a 12-speed Shimano Deore transmission as well as Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes.

Kona Ecoco and Ecoco DL

Kona’s leisure bikes also now get the electric treatment with the introduction of the Kona Ecoco and Ecoco DL.

Both bikes receive power from the Shimano STEPS E6100 motor drive system and 504 Wh batteries. However, the Ecoco DL gets an integrated down tube battery while the Ecoco’s battery sits on top of the down tube.

The pair of bikes roll on 650x47c tires and start at 3,599.

Kona Dew-E DL

Another new addition to Kona’s line of commuter-oriented electric bikes is the just-announced Dew-E DL.

kona, bikes

The Kona Dew-E DL sports an aluminum step-over frame with a carbon fiber fork. The bike features a Shimano STEPS E6100 mid-drive motor with a 504 Wh integrated battery.

The bike includes Shimano’s 10-speed Deore drivetrain and rolls on 650x47c WTB Horizon TCS tires. It starts at 3,699.

Kona Libre EL

Last but not least is the new Kona Libre EL electric gravel bike.

The Kona Libre EL sports an aluminum step-over frame, a carbon fiber fork, and a set of drop bars in true gravel bike fashion.

The bike is powered by a Shimano STEPS E7000 mid-drive motor system and a 504 Wh integrated battery. The brakes and transmission come from Shimano’s GRX gravel bike component line. And while I’d love to tell you the price, Kona hasn’t announced it yet, so we’ll have to wait just a bit longer to see how much this new electric gravel bike will set us back.
