Top 3 Best Electric Bikes on Costco

1) Jetson Bolt Pro Folding Electric Bike

Dubbed the “cheapest electric bike”, the Jetson Bolt Pro is a foldable, 41-pound electric bike with a 350W motor. The e-bike costs 399.99 and comes with a throttle-assist function, a 36V 6Ah lithium-ion battery, and dual mechanical disc brakes.

The e-bike can reportedly reach top speeds of 15mph and cover up to 30 miles on a full charge. However, riders might not be able to track these metrics in real-time as the bike doesn’t come with a display.

If you’re looking for a portable electric bike that can take you from point A to B, the Jetson Bolt Pro might just be the best value-for-money e-bike you’ll find out there.

2) Jupiter Discovery X5

Jupiter’s Discovery X5 is another low-budget commuter e-bike riders can easily purchase on Costco. The bike comes with a 350-Watt hub motor that can propel it up to speeds of 16 miles per hour.

This electric bike can be collapsed into almost half it’s fully-extended size which makes it portable enough to fit under standard office desks or inside car trunks. It has a fairly powerful 36V 5.2Ah battery that can power between 15 and 30-mile commutes.

Unlike the Jetson Bolt Pro, Jupiter’s Discovery X5 comes with its own LCD device that displays speed, range, battery percentage, etc. It also comes equipped with front and rear fenders, a rear shock absorber, an electronic horn, and dual disc brakes with motor inhibitor functionality.

How Fast Do Electric Bikes Offered at Costco Go?

In general, the speed is between 15 and 28 miles an hour. The fastest (and most powerful) electric bike on Costco, the RBSM Sports Mud-adder, has a top speed of 28mph.

The only e-bikes we found on their website with warranty information included in their descriptions come from the same manufacturer; Jetson (the Jetson Bolt Pro and the Jetson Adventure). This doesn’t mean that Costco does not offer warranties on other electric bikes listed on its website.

We visited Jetson’s official website and found that even the manufacturer offers the same warranty on both bikes — a 1-year limited warranty. So, whether or not an e-bike’s specifications includes information about its warranty period, it is safe to assume that the manufacturer’s warranty applies here.

Plus, Costco hasn’t included e-bikes among electronics that need to be returned within 90 days of their purchase, which in a way means customers might have to contact the manufacturer of an e-bike for warranty assistance.

Just for extra clarity on the subject, you can reach out to their customer support team. They should be able to give you more information on the company’s warranty policies.

Jetson Mini Bike – Specs and Review

Jetson Bolt is a mini bike-like electric ride that is way more functional than it looks. It is very small, so it is not a great option for everyone, but it can still take an adult person around town at a decent speed.

  • 250W rear hub motor
  • 36V 5,2Ah lithium battery
  • 15 mile range
  • 15 mph top speed
  • Twist throttle
  • 12” wheels
  • Rear disc brake
  • Bulit-in headlight and brake light
  • Weight: 34lbs

Motor Power and Speed

The hefty motor is rated at 250W, and it is pretty torquey, which in combination with small wheels means that this little scooter bike can pick up the speed pretty quickly. There is no drivetrain on this bike, it doesn’t have pedals, a chain or cassette, just twist the throttle and go. The top speed is 15mph, and a cruise control function will save you from having to hold the throttle all the time.

There used to be a setting in the Jetson app that allowed you to set the top speed at 18mph, but it seems to have vanished, right after the release of the successor of the Jetson Bolt, the Bolt PRO.

While it performs decent on flat ground, it does struggle on an incline. If you are not over 200lbs you will be able to climb up a 15 degree incline on a full charge, but it will be at a snail’s pace.

Battery and Range

Equipped with the 36V 5,2Ah battery, Jetson Bolt has a range of 15 miles, which is a travel distance you would expect from a budget electric scooter. It doesn’t sound like much, but it is enough for urban environments.

Battery, together with all electronics, is nicely tucked away in a box that is integrated into the frame. This protects all the important components from the elements, but also makes them fairly easily accessible in case you need to replace the battery.

Design and Build

Jetson Bolt has an interesting design, simple and streamlined, but with few practical details. One of them is the way the frame and battery case are made to form a convenient handle that allows you to easily pick up the bike, or through which you can feed a chain and lock. The frame is made of aluminum, so it is a lightweight bike, with all components put together very well. Nothing on this bike feels cheap or like it’s going to fall off. Seat and handlebar are adjustable, foot pegs instead of the pedals allow you to pretty comfortably place your feet while cruising around.

Kickstand, which is a pain point at many way more expensive bikes, on the Bolt is made very well. It is positioned perfectly and feels quite stable even when parked outdoors.

While this bike is marketed as a folding bike, it does not collapse or fold in half like many other folding electric bikes. The only thing that folds down is the handlebar stem. You can also remove the seat post if you want to make it more compact, but being as small as it is, it can fit the trunk or backseat of almost any car, even without folding down. Dimensions of a folded Bolt are 20″ x 40″ x 28″.

Wheels and Brakes

The wheels are on a small side, being only 12”, but it is the thing that helps this little bike go faster. There is one disc brake, mounted on the rear wheel, which provides enough stopping power, but you’ll have to be careful not to powerslide when you brake hard. Or do powerslide, if that’s your thing.

jetson, bolt, distance, costco

One of the best thing about Jetson Bolt are all the accessories included in the price. First, there is that awesome kickstand we mentioned earlier. Next there are splash guards in front and rear, a bit flimsy, but still doing their job. There is also a horn, sometimes a bell, depending where you get it from. But best of all, there is a built-in, very bright, LED headlight, as well as brake light in the rear.

There is also an app that connects to the Bolt via Bluetooth, but there is a lot about it that should be improved. It doesn’t seem to work on lot of devices, and the function to increase the max speed to 18mph has been removed.

Riding Experience

The first thing you notice is how high the center of gravity is on this bike, which in combination with small wheels and short wheelbase may make you feel unstable. Once you get used to it, you’ll have so much fun riding this little thingy. It is fast and snappy, you will have no problem keeping up with other bikes. The seat is not uncomfortable, but replacing it with a more padded, softer bike seat will make a real difference over bumps, as Jetson Bolt has no suspension.

Is Jetson Bolt an electric bike?

Is bicycle without pedal really a bicycle? Yes, just like those balance bikes that kids use to learn how to ride a bike. They have a frame, fork, handlebars, wheels, but no drivetrain. Electric pedal-less bikes do not have pedal assist, only throttle.

Does this kind of electric balance bike classify as an electric bike? Laws vary state-to-state, and motorized vehicle without pedals might not be allowed in some places. The best thing would be to check with the local authorities.

Jetson Bolt vs Jetson Bolt PRO

If you like Jetson Bolt, you’ll love the PRO version. This one comes with bigger wheels, more powerful motor and pedals. Powered by 350W, Bolt Pro can reach the top speed of 15.5mph. It also has slightly bigger battery rated at 6Ah, which keeps the throttle-only max range 15 miles, but thanks to the pedals, the maximum travelling distance extends to 30 miles.

Jetson Bolt PRO has 14” wheels and dual disc brakes. The frame is extended in order to accommodate larger wheels, so the dimension are 47” x 20” x 39”. The PRO version is, of course, more expensive, but it is well-worth the price.

Jetson Bolt vs. Ancheer Mini eBike

Both of these two are the rebranded versions of the Chinese F-Wheel DYU D1, so it makes sense they look so similar. Still, there are few differences. The Ancheer Mini Bike has a more powerful motor rated at 350W. The battery is also slightly larger, with 48V voltage, 6Ah capacity versus the 36V 5.2 Ah on the Bolt. This has no significant impact on the max speed and range though, the Ancheer’s top speed is 15mph, and the maximum range is 15 miles.

The Ancheer Mini bike also has dual disc brakes on both front and rear wheel. This is a real advantage, as having a disc brake only on the rear wheel is not the best solution. This also mean that Ancheer is also a bit more expensive than Jetson.

Between the two, we would go with Ancheer, because of the dual disc brakes and better communication with customers.

5 Best Selling Hurley Electric Bikes Review

July 30, 2023

Range Battery

Compared to the PRODUCT, the Jetson Folding Bike doesn’t go that far. However, 15 miles on a single charge isn’t anything to sneeze at. So, if you want to travel 43 miles instead, the Hurbo folding electric bike is another option. Considering its top speed, you can get a good hour of riding out of it before recharging. Charging time is so-so; it spends 5 hours recharging. On the other hand, if you’d like to have a custom battery for your bike, you’ll want to learn to build one by using our guide on how to make an electric bike.

The most useful safety feature the Jetson Folding Bike has is its bright LED headlight. It uses very little power, which leaves most of the battery to power the bike. If it’s what you fancy, it’s bright enough to be used at night. The eAhora X7, however, has features like an anti-theft electric lock, full alloy suspension, and more. For a very safe model, like a trike, you’ll want to read our Schwinn Meridian review.

The Jetson Folding Bike holds back on making huge decisions for its bike. It isn’t the fastest e bike, nor is it the most versatile. So, why both with it? For starters, 15.5mph and 15-mile battery life are pretty good. It’s strong, lightweight, and folds, which makes it easy to store. But, more importantly, it is one of the most affordable e-bikes you can pick up right now for only 339. But if the Jetson Folding Bike isn’t enough for you, bump up to the Speedrid Folding Ebike. It’s a step up in e-bike performance and versatility, but it doesn’t quite have the e bike controller settings 36-volt pro 902.

The Jetson Folding Bike earns its stripes by being a well-rounded budget electric bike. Break it out on a good day, and you’ll enjoy 15.5mph speed for an entire 15 miles. That’s an hour of fun before needing to charge it for the following day. Rough terrain is a no-go, but nature trails are fine. It’s still a sturdy bike, nonetheless.

The Components of an Amazing Folding Electric Bike

At first glance, it may not seem like there’s a whole lot that goes into a little electric bike, right? Well, every feature of the battery and the motor tie into one another, and the ways the comfort and safety of the bike are integrated may make it seem like a lot, but when done right, they can have a profound effect on the handling, geometry and in a seamless way. This is what you want in the best electric bike, folding or not! The parts of the electric bike should all be a seamless symphony that hums quietly from its still-powerful motor. The parts of the electric scooters from Jetson do that by a controller that they place so inconspicuously under the comfortable seat. So, how does the Jetson electric bike make so many options for the ride?

Throttle Pedal Assist System… And Maybe Cruise Control?

Finally, there’s a cruise control button! As if the pedal assist and the throttle weren’t awesome all on their own, there’s one more way to control your convenience and comfort. The pedal assist comes in one mode and will give you the most range whereas the throttle comes at a price of a shortened range. Finally, when you’ve had a rough day at the office, you can get up to 15.5MPH and ride on cruise control all the way home. The Jetson Bolt Pro electric bike has got to be the easiest way to travel by bike! The range the Jetson Bolt Pro electric bike offers is a whopping estimated 30 miles on the pedal assist, throttle gives a 15-mile range, and the cruise control is closer to a 10-mile range.

What’s with the Small Wheels?

Next up is the most commonly posed query on every folding electric bike “what’s with the small wheels?”. A very valid wondering, indeed! The small wheels are to add to the practicality of the folding bike itself. Typically, on a folding electric bike, you’ll see anywhere from a 10″ tire to a 20″ (still small) tire and the folding bike’s wheels will look like a fat tire in many respects. One respect is that they use a fat tire and small wheels for the compact design and added stability. When you look at electric scooters, you can see that they have a similar design and that is for safety concerns that arise with the smaller body of a bike or scooter. The small wheels are a good thing and you should embrace them.

Get A Warranty with Your Folding Electric Bike

Yes please! You should always look for an electric bike that carries a warranty with it! In the way that everything is shipped directly to consumers now, you want to have some protection for your purchase. Thank goodness for the standard 1-year limited warranty that the Jetson electric bikes come already in place. And you want to look for that in any other electric bike aside from Jetson electric bike, as they don’t all automatically provide a warranty in other brands.

The Difference Between the Folding E-Bike All Electric Bikes

To start, the differences between a folding bike motor and that of a typical electric bike are major. The typical motor of an electric bike is between 350W up to 1000W. Although a 1000W motor is illegal to use here in the US, the makers of these bikes usually sell them as a 750W motor that can be unlocked by app or by hacks. Also, in the electric bike that isn’t a folding bike, there’s a motor of several various types like the brushless hub motor, the geared hub motor, or even a mid-drive motor. But what comes with it is a bigger electric bike that isn’t portable in any way. Even the battery could be bigger with a higher voltage and amp-hours, but the battery size is directly connected to the size of the motor and vis versa. The main thing is that it’s all about what the consumers need in electric bikes and scooters. There are many reasons to opt for a folding electric bike over an electric bicycle, mostly security reasons and convenience.

The Jetson Bolt Pro folding electric bike comes from a sort of lineage of electric scooters that are all foldable scooters for every taste. In the way the Jetson mastered the commuter bike for real-life people in all types of circumstances, the Jetson electric bike has also made the ultimate leisure bike that you can pack up in the backseat or trunk of your car and take with you on a vacation. You can ride it to work or the train and pack it away under your desk and when you arrive home you can charge it in your living room and pack it in a coat closet until the next workday. On your time off though, you’re going to want to take it out and show it off to the neighbors. Yeah, it’s that good!

It’s Not Jetson’s First Time at the Rodeo

The Jetson company has had plenty of experience in bringing forth the newest and most advanced electric scooters along with hoverboards, children’s bike designs and so much more. Starting with the LX10 electric bike, the J5 electric bike, the Jetson Bolt, the Bolt Up, and this beauty the Bolt Pro, these are the most reliable, trustworthy electric bike and ride-ons (electric scooters) that you’ll ever buy. You will never buy anything but a Jetson ever again!

The Jetson Bolt Pro Folding Electric Bike

The Jetson Bolt Pro is a genuine folding electric bike that has all the bells and whistles of a folding bike. With a 350W hub motor and a lithium-Ion 36V/6.0 battery to back up some rides with a special someone to a special place on a Saturday night. The electric bike will get you the furthest using only pedal assist but for times when it calls for you an exhilarating and out-of-this-world ride the throttle is your guy. Unlike any other is the option for cruise control on a deserted road somewhere that can lead you home or somewhere unexpected. It’s ultimately your call. Sometimes let your taillight and your headlight be the guide and hang out somewhere new with someone you’ve known forever. And the rest is your story. Enjoy!
