Your eTrike comes with an industry leading 2-year electric drivetrain non-transferable warranty from the date of purchase. This covers the most important and expensive parts including your motor, battery and controller. All other components aren’t covered under warranty. Most of these wear and tear parts are under 100. If any component of the eTrike is defective or prevents safe and effective operation during the warranty period, please contact eTrikeCo immediately for service before operating the vehicle. Service and repair during the warranty period must be completed by eTrikeCo or an authorized party.

The following actions render the warranty null and void:

Damage caused when the operator fails to use and maintain the eTrike in full compliance with these instructions.
Improper use of the eTrike, including but, not limited to collisions with other objects, overloading the eTrike, and chemical corrosions.
Any and all damage caused by human factors.
Damage as the result of unauthorized disassembly and/or modification of the
Damage caused by improper storage or accident, including as the result of a power surge while charging.Does not include wearing parts like arm rests, seats, switches, brakes, rims, light bulbs and tire tread. Charger is not included in warranty.

Shipping and Return

Shipment time can take up to 4 weeks for in stock products. Pre-ordered products can take up to 3-4 months. Delivery time estimates from when your trike leaves our warehouse to your delivery address vary depending on your proximity to our warehouse. Please note these are estimates and not guarantees; while we try to meet these timelines, we do not advise to make plans based on an estimated lead time for an order.

Note all trikes are shipped with a specialized trucking company for roll-on/roll-off ready to ride delivery. No extra packaging or pallet loading necessary. Shipping is a flat rate of 635 for trikes that are not enclosed or have roofs. Shipping is a flat rate of 1270 for tricycles that are semi enclosed or fully enclosed. These rates will apply for any returns.

Return Policy: A: We accept returns for up to 5 days after you have received your eTrike. After 5 days we are unable to offer a refund or an exchange. Please note:
Contact support@etrikeco.com for returns. You must contact us before returning your purchase.
To be eligible for a return your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.
It must be returned in its original packaging.
You are responsible for paying your own shipping costs when returning an item.
The shipping costs we paid when we shipped your eTrike to you after purchase will be deducted from your refund.
We will receive and inspect your returned item, and email you to notify you that we have received your returned item. In that same email we will tell you if your refund is approved or rejected.
A 15% restocking fee will be charged on all returns.

If approved for a refund, it will be processed within 7 days and returned back to your credit card or original payment method, minus the shipping costs and restocking fee.

The EWheels EW-29 Electric Tricycle is a 3-wheel trike with that can be ridden with 100% electric power, pedaled like a regular bike/trike, or you can combine pedaling and electric power at the same time. (It does not include Pedal Assist / PAS.)

This electric trike can reach speeds up to 15 mph and travel up to 20 miles on a single charge. It has a low step-thru steel frame for easy seating, a front storage basket, and large rear storage basket that is perfect for groceries, running errands, or for taking along your favorite pet. Features also include a LED front electric light, electric horn, electric battery indicator, forward/reverse switch and over-sized seat with backrest.

To remove the battery, some screws need removed from the basket, and then once the basket is removed, the battery can be taken out of the box.

RETURN POLICY

Our return policy matches the return policy of the manufacturer of each of our products.

Each manufacturer has a different timeline for returns. Some have a 30-day return policy, and others are as short as 7 days. Some don’t accept returns at all because they custom build each product that is shipped.

If you are unsatisfied with your order, email us at support@ElectricBikeZone.com to notify us that you want to return your product. We will respond to your email and will provide an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and the address to ship the product back to. You can take the product to your local UPS or FedEx store to ship it out. A t racking number must be provided to Electric Bike Zone when returning a product.

The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs, including insurance (if selected), as well as a restocking fee. Up to a 30% restocking fee will be deducted from your return at the manufacturer’s discretion, based on the item purchased.

As soon as the return is processed and approved by our supplier, a refund will be issued to the credit card or account originally used for payment.

IMPORTANT: Some of our manufacturers don’t accept returns per their own policies. If the manufacturer does not accept returns for their products, then we cannot accept returns for those products, either. SHIPPING DAMAGE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT POLICY

Our electric bikes are carefully packaged to prevent damage during the shipping process. However, occasionally there can be an issue, and shipping damage can occur with all shipping carriers.

Please inspect the packaging of your item(s) when they arrive.
Please Note: If the item is damaged, you can sign for it as Damaged and we can then file a claim with FedEx/UPS right away on your behalf and have the item replaced. If there is damage but you sign for it as Not Damaged, then you will need to send information and photos showing the damage so that we can work to file a claim with FedEx/UPS. You can send photos to support@ElectricBikeZone.com and we will process an insurance claim on your behalf.
Electric Bike Zone does not pay or reimburse any labor costs undertaken by the customer under any circumstances.

If you believe that an item has arrived damaged or with a defect, contact us at support@ElectricBikeZone.com and send a picture and description of the damage and we will happily file a warranty claim with the manufacturer on your behalf. This must be done within 10 days of receiving your electric bike. We will not be able to ship you replacements if you send us photos after 10 days of receiving your electric bike. Replacement parts orders typically take between 1 to 3 weeks to fulfill.

We do not issue refunds/returns because of defective batteries. The bike warranty will cover the battery, and a new battery can be shipped to you once we are provided with proof that the battery is defective. See the Defective Battery Policy below.

We do not issue refunds/returns for minor cosmetic blemishes. The cost of returning an electric bike and shipping out a new one would be rather expensive. Instead, replacement parts and/or paint can be shipped to you to address any concern or problem.

DEFECTIVE BATTERY POLICY

Sometimes shipping carriers can damage the box during shipping. This can lead to the battery becoming damaged and not working. If you believe your battery to be faulty, you will need to provide us with proof.

To do this you can take your battery to a Batteries Plus store or use a voltmeter at home to test the battery and send us a picture of the reading on the voltmeter. Once you send us a photo of the reading showing the voltage is low, we can have a shipping label sent to you to return the battery. Once the defective battery is received, we will have a new battery shipped out to you as soon as possible.

The Raleigh Tristar iE step thru trike is in for testing and review!

Comfortably cruising around the neighborhood with enough cargo capacity for running errands is what the Tristar iE is all about.

This eTrike features a 350 watt mid drive motor and a 48V 8.7ah lithium-ion battery with the option to add a second battery for double the range!

The Raleigh Tristar iE is priced at 2,599 USD.

In this first part of the review you will get a detailed look at this bike with a BUNCH of pictures and the specifications.

Alright, let’s take a closer look at the Raleigh Tristar iE!

The Raleigh Tristar iE is ready for cruising around the neighborhood and running errands.

The 21″ x 14.5″ x 8″ metal cargo basket on the back can carry a lot of cargo. This is handy for getting groceries, carrying a daily commuter bag, etc. On the left side there is a place where a flag can be attached for additional visibility out on the road.

The Raleigh 6061 aluminum step thru frame has been designed with relaxed geometry that makes it very comfortable to ride. The step thru design makes it very easy to get on and off this eTrike.

This is a closer look at the mid drive motor area with a gusset for reinforcement and solid looking aluminum welds.

The Tristar iE is a pretty unique eTrike because it features a mid drive motor which helps it climb steeper hills by leveraging the gears of the trike. This is a 350 watt Currie Electro-Drive motor that provides assist up to 12.5 mph is pedal assist level 1 and up to 15 mph in pedal assist levels 2, 3, and 4. Upright trikes generally have a lower speed to provide stability when cornering.

A stylish chain guard does a good job of keeping your pant legs clean and the pedals have a grippy rubber surface.

This is a Class 1 electric bike that is pedal assist only (no throttle) and provides assist up to 15 mph.

This is a view of the Sturmey Archer 3 speed internally geared rear hub that is mounted near the back of the Tristar iE. The main chain from the mid drive motor drives the cog on the left side (of this picture) of the internally geared rear hub and the cog just to the right transmits the leveraged gear back to the rear wheels axle.

This angle shows the chain from the Sturmey Archer 3 speed internally geared rear hub to the rear wheels axle. The right rear wheel of the trike provides the power while the left side spins freely.

Just above the drivetrain and below the cargo basket is where the 48V 8.7ah lithium-ion battery is located. Another unique feature of the Raleigh Tristar iE is the extra battery option for double the range! As you can see in this picture the stock Tristar iE comes equipped with all the battery connection hardware; just slide in the extra battery pack and go. The extra battery adds 499 to the 2,599 base price.

There is a handle on the back of the battery that drops down for battery removal after the battery has been unlocked with the supplied key. The battery weighs 7.3 pounds.

Here’s a look at the battery pack after it has been removed from the trike and the charger plugged in. The charger is about the size of a laptop charger and it takes 4 to 6 hours to fully charge the battery. The battery can be charged on or off the trike.

Let’s take a look at the handlebars of the Raleigh Tristar iE. They have a swept back and upright position for a comfortable ride style. The handlebar stem height can be varied to fit your riding preferences.

On the left side of the handlebar is the front brake lever and Currie Electro-Drive control pad. The button with spring on the brake lever is a brake lock button for keeping the trike in position when you park it. To lock the brakes, squeeze the brake lever, push the button, and then release the brake lever. To unlock the brakes squeeze the brake lever and release and the button will unlock.

The control pad varies the pedal assist with the or – buttons. The button below that cycles through the different information (speed, trip distance, odometer, range) on the display and the button to the right of that is the on/off button.

In the center of the handlebar is the LCD display that shows the current pedal assist level (there are 4 different levels), the current battery level, speed, trip distance, odometer, and estimated range. The estimated range is a cool feature because it will estimate your range remaining based on the current battery level and what pedal assist level you are in.

On the right side of the handlebars is the rear brake lever with the lock button and the Sturmey Archer 3 speed twist grip shifter.

On the front of the Raleigh Tristar iE is the 24″ wheel with steel fork and front steel fender.

A Promax V-brake is spec’ed on the front wheel.

The rear brake is a mechanical disc brake with 160 mm rotor that is attached to the Sturmey Archer 3 speed internally geared rear hub that then transmits the braking to the rear wheel via the chain and axle.

Here’s a look at the Innova 24″ x 1.95” front tire that has a good tread pattern for mostly road riding but it can also handle some off road conditions.

Slime tire sealant comes stock in all 3 wheels on the Raleigh Tristar iE. This is a very nice feature because the Slime sealant helps to prevent flats from thorns, glass, etc.

Here’s a look at the 20″ rear wheels with Innova tires (20″ x 1.95”) and steel fenders.

The rear steel fenders have built in reflectors for a clean look and additional visibility.

The Velo Comfort saddle has a wide profile with a center relief area for a comfortable ride.

I won’t be even thinking about buying one of these trikes…….Too expensive for one…….Too slow………I can buy a Recumbent trike from Utah Trikes for 200.00 less and get a better deal!!

I agree. I am planning on a world tour in 2018. This type of an electric trike is out of the question, but à recumbent tadpole, even à folding tadpole is à possibility.

I think you miss who this is for. An older woman or man who just wants a little exercise and might need help pedaling while going to the neighborhood store would be the target market for this trike. I helped put an electric hub motor on the front of a trike for a man in his eighties so he could get out and pedal a little or as much as he wanted while going to the store. This trike helps older people keep riding and provides transportation if they no longer drive a car.

Good point – this trike is not designed for the younger crowd like the recumbents are. I have ridden this trike and If anything, I think the 12.5 mph may be on the high side for it’s expected audience. This is the first center drive e-trike I have seen and as such it is a market leader.

Just looks like an old fashioned bike with old gears tin mud guards not moved with the times but for the the up to date price tag

Expense?? People mention this about e-bikes all the time. A 2000 bike isnt expensive if you have looked around at the offerings in the pedal only arena that go way beyond it. Look for some of that price to go down as battery technology improves even better than it already is. I’m sure Raleigh did its marketing research to find out there is a customer base already waiting for this product. The first few commenters obviously arent in that group.

im glad to see a purpose built trike that considers the needs of people that require just such a machine. about to undergo a hip replacement revision i will be looking at scaling back my cycling activity. my eyes are drawn to my road bike, two mtn bikes and city bike as i know my needs and ability change. i appreciate ebike reports interest in all facits of the industry and to Raleigh for putting a product to market that will bridge the gap for many.
