What Are Some Cool Features?

The Liberty Trike features a spacious, sturdy, and removable rear basket mounted securely down low. If you think you’ll need more space, we also offer an optional front basket with a quick-release mount. Heavy-Duty Motor

The 750w motor can help pull a 300 lbs. rider up an 18% grade with moderate input. For comparison, the standard wheelchair grade incline is 12.5%. This simple, powerful, and durable motor will get you where you want to go, with ease.

Battery The LT comes equipped with a 36v nominal voltage battery, weighing 6.1 lbs.

How you choose to ride your electric trikes, such as in full-electric mode or pedal-assist mode, will greatly impact how much battery you spend.

Pedal-assist will use up considerably less battery time than if you have it on full-electric mode for the entire duration of the ride. Good news is that it will take only about 3 hours to recharge from 0-100%!

Easy-To-Read Segment LCD

The Liberty Trike features an easy-to-read backlit display with large text mounted on the handlebars. This advanced segment LCD includes a battery meter, speed, and trip distance readout, and adjustable assist level.

LCD screen displays can be found on most high-end electric trikes which offer handy information including speed, battery usage, distance covered, and remaining battery life to its user.

This is quite beneficial for monitoring how much mileage you have left, but it’s not something that is necessary. This will depend entirely on personal preference.

Shipping and Delivery

Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. uses United Parcel Service (UPS) and the United States Postal Service (USPS) for all of its shipments. All larger items (Liberty Trikes, battery packs) ship UPS Ground from our warehouse in Pennsylvania. All smaller parts ship via USPS Priority Mail unless otherwise requested. All Li-ion battery packs are shipped from Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. in Pennsylvania via UPS Dangerous Goods and a signature is required.

Shipping Rate Zones

Contiguous USA – Liberty Trikes are shipped with a discounted flat rate of 40 (all products are shipped from Croydon, PA 19021).

Canada – The shipping cost will automatically be calculated by UPS during checkout along with an automatically applied discount equivalent to the flat-rate discount for domestic shipping. Warranty

The Liberty Trike is warranted to the original retail purchaser to be complete and free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. The warranty only covers the frame, fork, and electronic components: motor, battery, display (hereinafter: Electric Bike Tech products). The warranty only covers new Electric Bike Tech products that were purchased from Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. All other parts and components are excluded from this warranty. Electric Bike Tech products warranties are effective from the date of purchase by the end-user provided the product is purchased in new condition.

What Isn’t Covered by the Liberty Trike Warranty

Spin Out. This is spinning out the axles inside your dropouts. The torque arm must be installed at all times. When fixing a flat, make sure your mechanic correctly re-installs the torque arm, or damage can occur.

Over Voltage. Connecting a larger battery, as in larger than the supplied 36-volt battery, can damage the controller and other system parts. Only purchase replacement batteries from Electric Bike Technologies, Inc.

Improper Battery Maintenance. Is damage to the battery and or battery cells due to improper care and overcharging, undercharging, punctures, dropping the battery, or using a charger that has not been approved for use by Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. Lithium-ion batteries require proper charging cycles to maintain the life and integrity of the cells. Failure to adhere to the proper care and upkeep directions laid out in the manual could potentially fail the battery and cause damage to the cells, which could result in bodily injury or death.

Damage. Caused by the weather, exposure to water, dropping, or any collision is not covered under warranty.

Altered Parts. Is the use of unauthorized service, parts, and/or components, or altering of any and all provided parts or components, including battery and/or electric systems.

Other Manufacturers. Parts from other manufacturers may carry a warranty with their respective manufacturer, and it will be the purchaser’s responsibility to pursue such warranties.

International Sales (Excluding Canada). The Liberty Trike warranty does not extend to international customers or domestic customers that have taken their Liberty Trike abroad. Regardless of defects in materials or workmanship, Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. will not cover the cost of replacement parts, shipping, or repairs outside of the 48 continental United States. All sales outside of the contiguous USA are final and not subject to our return policy.

What Isn’t Covered by the Limited Liberty Trike Warranty Warranties are limited to the replacement of parts and/or products determined by Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. at its sole discretion to be defective.

Warranties do not apply to normal wear and tear; any damage, failure and/or loss caused by accident, shipping, misuse, neglect, abuse, and/or failure to follow instructions or warnings as stated on the product or in the applicable owner’s manual or other printed materials provided with the product; damage, failure, and/or loss caused by the use of the product for stunt riding, ramp jumping, competition, off-road use, acrobatics, trick riding or other similar activities, or use in any other manner for which such products were not specifically designed.

Rentals, Commercial Use, and Non-Authorized or 3rd Party Sellers The Liberty Trike limited warranty does not cover or apply to any Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. product used for rental or commercial purposes unless the specific product is designated, labeled, or marketed by Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. as acceptable for rental or commercial use. The Liberty Trike Limited Warranty does not cover or apply to any Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. product sold by a non-authorized reseller or retailer.

WARRANTY CLAIMS

Those parts and/or products that are determined by Electric Bike Technologies, Inc., to be defective and to qualify for warranty replacement will be provided at no charge, only after a valid warranty claim is processed by Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. customer service department. Warranty claims must be made by the original purchaser by contacting the Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. customer service call center for the Liberty Trike at 1-866-894-4620 within the warranty period (stated above). Shipping and handling fees will paid by Electric Bike Technologies, Inc.

Electric Bike Technologies, Inc., at its Sole Discretion, has the Option of Replacing with a New Part or Factory Re-Certified Part. The limited warranty stated herein is in lieu of and expressly excludes all other warranties not expressly set forth herein, whether expressed or implied by law or otherwise, including, but not limited to, any warranties for merchantability and/or fitness for any particular purpose. Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. shall in no event be liable or responsible for incidental or consequential losses, damages, or expenses in connection with their products. Items must be received at Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. in Croydon, PA, no later than thirty days after our original shipping date. Repairs and Replacements

All returns for repair or replacement should be preceded by contacting Electric Bike Technologies, Inc. at 1-866-894-4620 for approval. Upon approval, we will open a service ticket to track and communicate the progress of the claim or service. Please note all shipping charges related to returns or repairs covered under warranty are the buyer’s responsibility.

Cancellations Any order that has been processed will have a 3% processing fee. Any order that has been shipped cannot be canceled. All cancellations and modifications to the original order must be made in writing or by email. Send your email to support@LibertyTrike.com.

Refunds Refunds are issued within two days of receipt of the returned merchandise. Please allow 3-6 business days for the credit to appear on your credit card. The tricycle never really took off. With all do respect to the tiny bikes for toddlers and motorcycle sidecars, the three-wheeler never really went mainstream. But there’s a new electric trike in town looking to change the way we view the bike with an extra wheel.

The bike in question is the EVRYjourney electric tricycle from Sixthreezero. Combing through the marketing material, it’s easy to assume this model is for women as that’s pretty much all that’s pictured on the website, but it’s not gender specific (the sloped frame does resemble the rather antiquated “traditional” women’s frame, originally built to handle dresses). than anything, being a trike, it’s more for the kid residing in us.

Which brings up a point: riding a tricycle is different than riding a bicycle and that becomes abundantly clear right away. There’s more of a lateral wobble to the trike, which makes sense given your wider set. It takes some getting used to, but it won’t take long. Turning is a different animal, as traditional cyclists like to pedal into a turn. With a trike, you’ll want to slow into more turns to keep all three wheels grounded. Once you get the feel of it, riding the EVRYjourney is a breeze.

What we like about it

There’s a lot to like about this trike. For starters, it looks sharp. Looks aren’t everything but when you’re dealing in the realm of the tricycle — again, most synonymous with toddler toys — that added cool factor appeals to the adult rider. The synthetic leather accents, multitude of frame colors, and white-walled tires all add style points.

The battery life is impressive. Not only does it charge quickly, but a full pack will likely get you at least 30 miles, if not 40-plus. The wheels seems clumsy and oversized at first, but after tackling some gravel and grass, we learned to really appreciate them. The fenders too, while stylish, make this trike great in all conditions (the display did just find in the rain).

You won’t be breaking any land speed records on this tricycle but the 250-watt front wheel motor delivers enough pep and tops out around 16 MPH. The throttle is responsive, the display functions are easy to navigate and fairly useful, and there are five levels of pedal assist. Things are equally smooth when going manual, as there are seven gears to help you along the way.

We like the basket, which is large enough to carry a pup, large cooler, or a reasonable amount of groceries. The motor is quiet, keeping the ride peaceful, and the ride is a comfortable one. There’s a lot that can be adjusted, which is especially great if you’re sharing the bike and passing it from one rider to another. With the included toolkit, one can easily adjust everything the seat orientation to the handlebar angle.

What we like less about it

Right out of the gate, the trike takes some pretty heavy assembly. That’s a reasonable price to pay for having the thing shipped in a convenient and surprisingly-narrow box right to your door, but it’s still worth noting. Those with zero mechanical aptitude will be viewing and reviewing short tutorial videos from the brand while putting the thing together. This writer has a reasonable amount of bike tuning experience and it still took a good couple of hours to get it all prepped. But the good news is that once it’s ready to go, there’s little to do after that besides enjoy the ride and charge the battery when needed.

One other issue is the shear size and weight of the model. While it’s hard to imagine remedying this in any way (smaller wheels would look silly, not sure you could find a lighter motor, thinner frame perhaps?), it does present some issues, namely in the form of storage. The trike is large enough it sort of needs it’s own parking space. It’s not the simplest thing to tote in and out of the house, so consider having a designated spot for it and get a lock that can handle the larger build.

The bike huffs and puffs a bit dealing with hills of any significance so keep your surroundings in mind. It does its best work on flatter terrain. It would be cool if the cords could be less obvious, or even wired internally in a future model, but this is more of a tip going forward than a real complaint.

Some final thoughts

While it’s easy to say this is mostly cut out for a retiree living in Palm Springs, the e-trike is a workhorse and a great commuter bike. While sizable, it’s a good-looking bike that can do everything a quality cruiser bike can and more. We like it not for its technical ability or speed but for its aesthetic, utilitarian nature, and breezy ease of use. This is a genuinely fun ride that has summer written all over it. than a trike, it’s an electric tricycle and an adult tricycle in one, built for carefree cruising.

After many miles of putting the Raleigh Tristar iE through it’s paces it has proven to be a comfortable, easy to ride, high performance electric trike that is a fun neighborhood town and country cruiser!

At 2,599 the Raleigh Tristar iE has added a lot of modern day electric bike tech to the comfortable upright trike design.

It can climb steeper hills with its mid drive motor, make errand running easy with its cargo basket, and really go the distance with its option for double batteries!

Overall there are some characteristics of the Raleigh Tristar iE that really stand out when riding this electric trike. To summarize they are:

Raleigh has done a good job of adding some modern day features to the traditional upright trike design by adding the mid drive motor, dual battery option, and the low step thru frame design.

It can also be a good delivery eTrike for a business looking to add an electric vehicle to their fleet. The Raleigh Tristar iE gets attention out on the street and a business could add some branding to the sides and back of the trike for additional exposure.

Okay, let’s get into the what it is like to ride the Raleigh Tristar iE.

The Tristar iE has a very comfortable upright position and the step through makes it very easy to get on and off the trike.

Swept back and upright handlebars provide a comfortable ride and it helps with seeing around you and being seen by other.

The saddle has a wide profile that is super cushy for comfortable cruising.

Carrying cargo is easy with the large 21″ x 14.5″ x 8″ metal cargo basket on the back between the two rear wheels. Adding a mesh cargo net can help with securing loads in the basket.

The width between the rear wheels is 29″ so it will fit through most doorways for the ability to bring this eTrike inside and load and unload cargo.

Trikes in general can be very stable but they can have a somewhat twitchy feeling if you are used to riding a bicycle that generally carves corners by leaning into the corner. The cornering on a trike is different because it does not carve the corners (unless you are on two wheels!) and it can take some time to get used to the quick handling of a trike.

I found that after some time learning how to move my weight around the trike and making steady slow turns it proved to be a stable ride. On some descents I was hitting speed of 25 mph and the trike felt stable; you just need to make sure you don’t make any sudden turns.

The 350 watt Currie Electro-Drive mid drive motor with the 48 V system definitely has some kick, especially in pedal assist levels 3 and 4. Accelerating off the line is pretty quick in the higher assist levels!

The lower assist levels 1 and 2 provide for a pretty mellow ride and they are very useful when riding in congested areas or when making a lot of tight turns.

The Raleigh Tristar iE uses a cadence sensor system and the pedal assist starts to add assist as soon as you make about a 1/4 revolution of the cranks.

The motor does make a humming noise in the higher pedal assist levels. It makes the most noise when you stop pedaling and it seems that the noise is associated when the gearing in the mid drive motor system slows down.

A Sturmey Archer 3 speed internally geared rear hub that is housed near the rear axle of the bike provides a simple drivetrain that can handle pretty steep hills with the lowest gear (1). The high gear (3) helps this trike cruise along the flats with a nice pedal cadence.

One of the advantages of an internally geared hub is that you can shift while the bike is not moving. This is helpful if you come to a stop sign or light and realize that you need to shift to a lower gear for accelerating from the stop.

Like most internally geared hubs it is hard to shift the gears under power. This is especially true when climbing hills. Shifting from the low to high gears (from 1 to 2 to 3) is pretty easy. But trying to shift from high to low (3 to 2 to 1) under power is very difficult.

It’s best to anticipate what gear you need to be in before you start climbing a hill. And if you need to shift down, make sure you have enough speed so that you can pause pedaling to shift and then start pedaling again.

If you are stuck in a higher gear on a climb, using the higher pedal assist levels can help to get you over the climb.

Your pedal power and motor power are routed through the internally geared rear hub to the right rear wheel of the trike.

The rear braking is also handled by the right rear tire so you want to make sure that it is always planted on the ground

And speaking of keeping the Raleigh Tristar iE planted on the ground, the Innova tires do a good job of providing traction on the road and on some light off road conditions. The 2″ width offers a comfortable ride with good efficiency.

The overall braking power of the Raleigh Tristar iE is good. The front v-brakes are powerful and the rear mechanical disc brake has solid stopping power through the right rear wheel.

The brake levers have built in locking buttons for use when the trike is parked. I also used this braking feature while sitting on the trike when I stopped to talk with someone out on a ride.

The LCD display centered on the handlebars provides large format numbers that are easy to read and there is just enough information that the display provides to keep you up to date on the ride like the current pedal assist level (there are 4 different levels), the current battery level, speed, trip distance, odometer, and estimated range.

The estimated range feature proved to be pretty accurate in the range test which you will see below. Here is a break down of the estimated range with a fully charged battery pack:

Pedal assist level 1 = 49 miles

Pedal assist level 2 = 37 miles

Pedal assist level 3 = 27 miles

Pedal assist level 4 = 15 miles

And that is just with the standard single battery configuration. You can double those ranges if you were to use the additional battery (499).

The display also has a backlit feature that makes it easy to see day or night.

The Tristar looks good with its durable looking aluminum step thru frame and the chrome metal fenders are a nice touch of retro style.

Okay, now let’s take a look at how the Raleigh Tristar iE did out on the open road.

Raleigh Tristar iE Range Test Results:

Here is the real world information on how the Raleigh Tristar iE electric trike performed on a riding circuit that includes hills, flats, traffic, wind (when available) etc.

While testing these bikes I like to put them through the toughest conditions to see where their bottom line is in regards to range and speed. I tested the Raleigh Tristar iE with the highest pedal assist level with relatively easy pedaling.

Range: As you can see from the GPS info that I recorded, the Raleigh Tristar iE traveled 16 miles and did a total elevation gain/loss of around 1,400 ft. Considering that I weigh 190 lbs and I pedaled very lightly this is decent range for a trike with a 48 Volt 8.7 ah battery pack (418 Watt Hours) with a 350 watt mid drive motor.

When I started the range test the display estimated the range to be 15 miles in pedal assist level 4, so this proved to be pretty accurate. It is nice that it was providing a conservative estimate even with the tough ride that the Raleigh Tristar iE went through during the range test.

Raleigh also offers the option of an additional 48V 8.7ah (418 Wh) lithium battery for double the range (around 32 to 100 miles) for an additional 499.

Watt hours are the total energy in a battery pack and it is based on the volts x amp hours of a pack. This is a way to compare the size of the “gas tank” of electric bikes.

Please keep in mind that if you pedal more, weigh less than me, ride slower and/or you use the bike in terrain that is not as hilly you will get more range. These results are from tough testing.

Speed: The Raleigh Tristar iE will assist up to 12.5 mph is pedal assist level 1 and up to 15 mph in pedal assist levels 2, 3, and 4. Upright trikes generally have a lower speed to provide stability when cornering.

Weight: The Raleigh Tristar iE tips the scales at 85 lbs. Removing the battery brings it down to around 77.7 pounds. The battery weighs 7.3 pounds.

The weight distribution of the Raleigh Tristar iE is back heavy because of the two rear wheels and frame, cargo basket, and battery. This doesn’t really affect the handling of a trike much because it doesn’t tilt into the corners.

Pros:

Comfortable and Easy to Ride: The Raleigh Tristar iE upright position and comfortable saddle make it an easy bike to get used to riding. It’s step thru aluminum frame makes it very easy to get on and off.

Carrying Cargo: The large 21″ x 14.5″ x 8″ metal cargo basket on the back of the trike provides a great place for carrying cargo while out running errands.

Climber: The 350 watt Currie Electro-Drive mid drive motor with the 48 V system helps the Raleigh Tristar iE climb some of the steeper hills.

Cons:

Shifting: Shifting under power with the internally geared hub is difficult when going from the high gear to lower gears: 3 to 2 to 1.

Noise: Like almost all mid drive motors, the mid drive on the Raleigh Tristar iE does make some noise. Compared to other mid drives tested, it is in the medium range of noise.

Conclusion:

Overall the Raleigh Tristar iE is a fun, comfortable, and easy going eTrike. It has a lot of modern day electric bike tech built in to make it a versatile neighborhood runner.

It can climb steeper hills and zip around in the higher assist levels or just cruise the neighborhood with the lower assist.

It is also a nice errand runner with it’s built in cargo basket and option for double batteries.

At 2,599 the Raleigh Tristar iE offers a solid line up with it’s step thru aluminum frame, 350 watt Currie Electro-Drive mid drive motor with the 48 V 8.7ah lithium battery, metal cargo basket, and metal fenders.

Please keep in mind that this is a relatively short term test. This testing can’t really give you the long term review of durability and reliability. My thoughts on the quality of this bike are from previous experiences with similar bikes. I have heard that trikes can feel uncomfortable when riding on crowned roads as they will lean to the right to match the slope of the road, and that the lean would be more pronounced on an upright trike like this one, as compared to a recumbent trike. Did you test this trike on crowned roads and, if so, do you find this lean to be an issue?

Hi Doug,yes you can feel a lean because it doesn’t tilt like a traditional bike. I found that shifting my weight on the trike helped to offset that feeling.

While your article was very informative…….when I saw the price tag of 2499.00 I knew immediately that I was NOT going to buy one of these trikes………For the same MONEY I can buy a Fat Cat Tad recumbent Trike form Utah Trikes,and have 3 times the Trike!! With 3 wheel Disc.Brakes.and it will go 25mph for 35 miles unassisted………….

If you look closer @ the Fat Cat site. you will see that trike is not electric. The electric recumbant is 3500 plus 350 shipping.
