What does your tomorrow look like? The new Smart #1 entered the market and we couldn’t be prouder of our role in the production. We‘ve built an entirely new brand architecture for Smart based on our digital twin production system, which is behind the visual storytelling for the #1 website content, Smart car configurator—and now the #1 market entry campaign. For the virtual production of the market entry film, we created a full CGI environment giving Smart a new face. This was made possible thanks to our Unreal Engine based production pipeline, which enables real-time rendering of images for immediate results that are as photorealistic as any real production shoot. Using this solution, the virtual production was blazing fast from start to finish. A big thank you to Smart Europe GmbH for partnering up with us. Have a look for yourself. We dare you to guess what’s virtual and what was shot in the real world. #WeAreTomorrow #smart1 #electricmobility #AFriendCalledFuture

️ Happy 50th birthday, dm-drogerie markt Deutschland! ️ The highpoint of this year’s celebrations was yesterday—a massive event at the dm-arena in Karlsruhe with more than 6000 dm employees, partners and guests—and what an event it was! With our motto, “Looking forward to the future” (“Lust auf Zukunft”), the lively atmosphere filled with the vibrant magenta and orange anniversary colors, and the cheering crowd, we absolutely agree with guest speaker German Chancellor Olaf Scholz: the incredible “we-feeling” at the heart of working with dm was palpable in the arena. (And it was a highlight for us to see him standing next to the key visual we designed ). Seeing the anniversary project we’ve been collaborating on with dm and our partner agencies you GmbH Arthen Kommunikation GmbH for over 2 years come together on the big stage was immensely satisfying and a huge honor. Sunday’s festivities were the culmination of a series of activities that have been running all year: employee events, campaigns, our 50 years film and even a special book on the future gifted to all employees. Every aspect underscores what Christoph Werner said on Sunday was the basis for dm’s success: “diligently focusing on the customers, the will to change and, above all, the ability to change.” This FOCUS on humans is one of the reasons we love not only being dm customers, but long-term partners on this journey. Our hearts are full of gratitude and joy. Thank you to our dm partners Evelyn Föry, Karolin Nickl, Laura Sütterlin, Frauke Klos and everyone else at dm who was involved. And a special thanks to all our oddity colleagues who worked on the day to make the event a success and capture the spirit there: Maxi Selina Euskirchen, Maris Kalajdzija, Daniel Maier and Sandra Meyer. And of course thank you to everyone at oddity who worked on this amazing project together. ️ #HierBinIchMensch #AFriendCalledFuture #dm #Anniversary

Bosch ABS
Anti-lock brakes for your bike are here! Bosch‘s lightweight and sophisticated second generation ABS works seamlessly with Magura’s M CT ABS brakes to modulate front brake power, so you can stop quickly and safely whatever the conditions. On road or off, wet or dry, mud or gravel, it delivers the best possible braking performance whilst helping to keep you safe.
OVERVIEW
In the old days, many people only used the rear brake out of caution or fear. The new Bosch eBike ABS now lets you brake more safely and confidently with both brakes at the same time. It can prevent the front wheel from locking and thus help to avoid skidding. You remain safely in the saddle even during sudden heavy braking – whether you are on firm asphalt or slippery gravel paths. Because every e-bike is different, there is no one-size-fits-all ABS. Instead, there’s the right ABS for your e-bike type, supporting your braking process in the best possible way.
Anti-lock braking functionSensors measure wheel speed and regulate brake pressure. for efficient braking.
Different ABS modesThe ABS modes are matched to the e-bike type: ABS Cargo, ABS Touring, ABS Allroad, ABS Trail.
Effective accident avoidanceIf all e-bikes were equipped with ABS, up to 29 percent of pedelec accidents could be prevented each year.
Improving braking behaviourYour braking statistics can be viewed on your display. the Kiox 300.
eBike Alarm
The Bosch eBike Alarm is said to beep when your bike is moved from its parked spot. It sends a notification to your phone via the app and begins tracking your bike. You can then follow your bike’s location in the eBike Flow app and alert the police. Bosch says this function requires the ConnectModule to be installed on your bike. The brand did not confirm the ConnectModule’s price, but said a 12-month eBike Alarm subscription is included. Thereafter, eBike Alarm costs €4.99 per month or €39.99 per year.
Drive unit updates
Bosch has incorporated its Cargo Line, Performance Line and Performance Line Speed drive units into the Smart System, so they can be customised and updated via the app. Cargo Line now has Cargo mode – which is said to offer 400 per cent support, or four times your pedalling force – in order to carry heavier loads. Hill Hold mode works with Smart Walk Assist to prevent the bike rolling back, according to Bosch. It works for 10 seconds without the brake being applied to “provide safety when the bike is pushed in steep terrain”. All Bosch’s drive units will have Auto mode, which is claimed to react to hills and wind to change gear so riders don’t have to. Performance Line Speed has more power (85Nm) and now delivers motor assistance up to 45km/h in Europe or 28mph in the US.
New batteries
Bosch has also unveiled new bigger batteries for its Smart System. Designed for shorter rides, the PowerPack 545 is rated at 545Wh and weighs 3kg. The Powerpack 725 is more powerful and heavier (725Wh and 4kg) for longer rides and more energy-consumptive cargo ebikes. These two batteries mount to the frame. In addition, Bosch has announced three new sizes of PowerTube batteries, which slot inside the frame, and form part of the Smart System. They have 500Wh, 650Wh and 750Wh capacity and weigh between 3kg and 4.3kg respectively.
How Does It Work?
The system activates automatically once you start pedalling. There are two functions which make the braking experience much safer. These are also crucial for the effectiveness of the eBike ABS. The anti-lock function of the front wheel automatically regulates the brake pressure by continuously monitoring the speed of the wheels. Thus, preventing the wheels from locking up. This increases control and stability, especially on slippery surfaces.
It also gets rear wheel lift control. This reduces the risk of the rear wheel lifting up on high-grip surfaces. Therefore, also reducing the risk of being thrown over the handlebar. The function contributes greatly to safer and accident-free riding.
Bicycle ABS: An Introduction
Anyone who has spent time around cars or motorcycles knows the value of anti-lock brakes. ABS-equipped vehicles can save skin, bones, and lives in wet conditions or panic-induced moments. Anti-lock brakes ensure that the wheels of larger, motorized vehicles like cars and motorcycles do not lock up.
When wheels lock up, the result can be an out-of-control skid that can result in a crash. For motorcycles and bicycles, anti-lock technology prevents a complete lockout while also ensuring that the rear wheel does not come off the ground, resulting in a nasty trip over the bars.

People riding bikes are more likely to encounter mixed surfaces, not just pavement. Having a system to recognize changes in the road, and sense when a tire is slipping before it’s too late to correct, can pay significant dividends.
The new Bosch eBike ABS Trail. A new level of performance and safety
Bringing ABS to Bicycles
A few years ago, such a feature on a bicycle may have seemed a bit excessive, if not ridiculous. Many riders would probably contend that they would like to lock out the brakes in certain conditions, not just the riders ripping through town on fixies.
Even so, a few companies have dabbled in bringing ABS to cycling, with mixed results. Early designs were clunky and cumbersome, and some didn’t work well. And without a massive market of e-bikes ready for the upgrade, ABS seemed like more a boutique product than something practical.
That trend seems to be changing.
The recent and considerable trend toward e-bikes in the cycling community over the past few years may have created a sweet spot where ABS can shine.

New Bicycle Anti-Lock Braking Systems
Shimano and Blubrake’s system is available in integrated or frame-mount options to fit various bikes. Bosch offers a wide range of ABS modes, including cargo, touring, all-road, and trail, for a more refined system for particular riding styles.
Both systems are far less cumbersome than previous attempts and appear to perform as promised if YouTube videos showing riders slamming on the brakes without disastrous consequences are accurate.
Like ABS in cars, the systems automatically feather or pulse the brakes when the system detects a skid or lock-up. Both systems feature sensors to monitor wheel rotation and braking power. ABS will activate if they detect a lock-up or deceleration outside safe parameters.
The feature has profound implications for riders taking on singletrack or gravel.
In these environments, grabbing a brake hard is generally avoided. But with ABS, what could result in skittering or sliding could turn into a well-controlled slowdown, even for riders who don’t necessarily have the skill to feather brakes.
Who Is Bike ABS For?
Highly skilled riders may have a hard time accepting the idea of ABS. These highly experienced cyclists may want ultimate control of both wheels and may purposely lock a wheel in certain situations. These lock-ups can increase both speed and control for those with such skills.
The new Bosch eBike ABS – how does it work?
The systems also will inevitably add weight to any bike.
But, for newer riders hopping on e-bikes or commuters looking for improved safety features, ABS can be a great option. For these cyclists, ABS can help compensate for lack of skill or aid in guarding against the plentiful distractions and obstacles common in urban commuting.
It is also a game-changer for those using e-bikes to replace cars. Hauling groceries, children, or pets adds a lot of weight to bikes, vastly increasing the skill and the forces placed on braking systems and tires. ABS can help with the more difficult and complex braking situations where a crash might be more disastrous than usual.
ABS seems like a feature that is ready to take off as e-bikes continue to rise in popularity. For the generalist, commuter, utility, or newer cyclists, ABS can improve the safety and enjoyment of riding.
Like all current technological improvements in the bicycle industry, logic points toward ABS becoming lighter, more effective, less intrusive, and more affordable. Time will tell whether most cyclists demand or desire ABS on their rides.
