The Segway Ninebot Max is definitely built for riding the urban block.

An adult electric scooter. Awesome 25 cm (10 in) tires and weighing in at nearly 19kgs (41 lbs). the near-limit for a ‘budget to midsize’ e-scooter.

A big uptick is the Segway Max has massive range durability. And the hill-climb cojones for pumping a reliable, daily commute.

It looks like one of the hardest working electric scooters on the market today. A solid, steady commuter scooter rather than a rough-terrain tearaway.

But is it the best electric scooter for your riding needs?

Why’s that? Unagi is actually the Japanese word for eel. So, we’re talking throttle-flicking, sideway-dipping, slippery smooth.

Where slinky aesthetics and scooter performance meet on urban pavement and green terrain. Slicing through air, darting, swerving. Freestyling curves and corners.

High cool commuting for the Smart subscriber. Unagi One is no budget ride.

Since founded in Oakley, California, 2018, Unagi have been turning heads in escooter world. The launch of the Model One set the bar even higher for electric scooter design. Blending refined Apple-style ergonomics with all-round performance, safety and that dream, comfortable ride.


Motor Power and Speed

First released with a single motor, the upgraded Unagi One (E500) now boasts a 500 watt dual motor. It’s still most definitely a commuter scooter, with a max speed of 32 km/h (20 mph).

So, ideal for most local area speed limits, and not for hi-throttle thrill seekers. But the Unagi One is still faster than the Segway Ninebot Max (top speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph).


The Unagi One E500 can reach 24 km/h (15 mph) in around 4 seconds. Increasingly, most electric scooters also offer different speed setting modes to ‘customize your ride’.

Whatever your riding level, you can set a ‘maximum speed’ for a ride quality you feel most comfortable with for planning a journey.

Battery Life and Range

The Model One is mainly aimed for the short distance, daily urban commute. Or if you are simply scootering around your local precinct.

Unagi say they want to eliminate the costs and inconveniences of urban travel for their subscribers.

So they’ve loaded a 500 watt battery with HG2 18650 lithium-ion cells, manufactured by global giant, LG Electronics.

From a single, charging time of around 5 hours the Model One can produce a 15. mile range under best conditions, and a 10 miles travel distance, overall.

Tires and Suspension

Most riders would say the best electric scooter for the smoothest journey has inner tube, air-filled tires. A more flexible tread spreads and grips more of the ground surface.

But inner tube tyres can often be prone to flats, caused by a poor riding surface, such as tiny cracks, raised tarmac and those small potholes.

No one needs the nightmare of swapping out a fiddly inner tube on a hectic commute.

Unagi have designed the Model One to try and be the all-round package. for flat-free, daily commutes.

Segway Ninebot Max (G30E II)

Once tech brands, Segway and NineBot, joined forces in 2015 it wasn’t long before their first electric scooters were taking to precinct pavement and sidewalk. Including, both a range of adult electric scooter and kids electric scooter.

The first Segway Ninebot Kickscooters arrived in 2o17 followed by the G30 MAX series from 2019.

The Ninebot Max G3OE II upgrades the earlier edition, including enhanced LED lights and all-round visibility reflectors.


How fast does this electric scooter go? is always the first question, obviously!

Straight-off, the Ninebot scooter is a ‘commuter scooter’. Built for the longer ride, at a steady, comfortable pace.

The good news is the Segway Ninebot boasts a 350 watt motor. doubling to a huge 700 watts at peak.

Punching out at that power, you should definitely expect to achieve a top speed of up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph),which is ideal. and safe. for average, local speed limits.

It’s also a twinge faster than the 24 km/h (14.0 mph) other scooters might generally crank out.

As with many other scooters out there, the Ninebot scooter also offers different riding modes. Where some scooters may be limited to three riding modes, the Segway Ninebot Max offers a total of FOUR modes to match your ride style.

Four speed modes

First three of the four maximum speed modes are powered up by double-clicking the on-off key.

Speed 1. ECO: Economic mode. Top speed 10km/h (6mph). Eco mode is ideal for new riders getting first grips with handlebar controls and a smooth pavement performance.

Speed 2. D: Standard mode. Top speed 20km/h (12 mph). select for a smooth neighbourhood and crosstown commute.

Segway Ninebot scooters are designed and built for putting in those extra urban kilometers. The Kickstart Max packs a 551Wh of Ion-Lithium, non-removable battery power.

On a single,’built-in’ 6 hour charge (or a 3A fast charge), tests show the Ninebot Max can deliver a hardy, maximum range of 34.8 kms (21.6 miles). With an average 74 kg (163 lbs) rider on deck.

Not quite the 65 km (40 miles) maximum range claimed by Segway Ninebot, but still pretty massive for electric scooter world.

It’s a big, fat, super plus! The Segway Ninebot rocks two 25.4 cm (10 in), tubeless, pneumatic (air-filled) tires. Compared to the more standard 21.5 cm (18.5 in) tires fitted to many electric scooters out there. Some even touting solid tires.

So definitely a well-pumped up, and air-smooth, riding experience. Which more than makes up for a lack of suspension on this e scooter.

The wide tire diameter lends a firmer grip on the urban tarmac and concrete. Added width and tire tread simply soak up those jerky bumps, cracks, holes and tearups.

Making the Segway Ninebot Max not only a great scooter for a comfortable ride on a long urban commute. It also means you can go off-road on dirt track and green grass for some rougher terrain action.

Self Healing Tires

Self-healing tires are lined inside with a sealing gel ‘slime’. Its increasingly, a feature of budget to mid-size, electric scooter tires.

If the tire tread or wall is penetrated while riding the gel will immediately be released and occupy the puncture area.

The temporary plugging of a puncture cut or tear will allow you to continue riding until you reach your destination.


Stopping, even in low speed mode, always needs reliable, solid braking. The Segway Ninebot Kickscooter Max is loaded with a securely ‘encased’ dual, regenerative braking system:

  • Front- mechanical drum brake
  • Rear. electronic regenerative brake

One brake lever controls both the front drum brake and rear electronic brake. Activated by minimal pressure, with zero drag due to the short brake cable from lever to wheel.

Xiaomi Essential

Budget scooter ideal for entry-level short distance riders

Many reviews of recommended scooters would often give mighty praise to the Xiaomi M365. Since launching in 2017/18, it was often claimed to be the best electric scooter out there. Or even the only scooter worth riding.

But in 2020, Xiaomi M365 was quietly replaced by a new electric scooter range, including the Xiaomi Essential (one of two models), with upgraded cockpit, improved tires and lights.

Will the Essential live up to its predecessor?

The Essential is designed by Chinese tech brand, Xiaomi. However, it’s manufactured by Ninebot, who also produce Segway electric scooters.

So, is this Xiaomi scooter an essential alternative to the Segway NineBot Max?


Straight off. the performance of the Xiaomi Essential is firmly pitched at the budget, first time rider (16),followed by the short-distance urban commuter.

So, definitely aimed at a good value, entry-level ride for the younger set. not the speed thrills crowd.

Speed and Acceleration

The Xiaomi Essential comes equipped (built-in to the front wheel) with a 250W brushless DC hub motor (500W peak).

The Essential hits a max speed of 20 km/h (12.5 mph), meaning this Xiaomi version is less powerful than both the previous Xiaomi M365. and the Segway Ninebot Max.

3 Speed Mode Settings

As with many electric scooters you might see in your neighborhood the Essential has three ride modes, each with their own top speed setting:

Speed Mode 1. ECO. Pedestrian: 3 km/h (5 mph)

The Essential motor performs well on typical hill climbs of 10 to 18 per cent gradients. Being less powerful than other scooters means the Xiaomi can struggle with steeper inclines on some urban rides.


Battery Life and Range

Xiaomi Essential is not the only scooter. budget or mid-size. made for shorter journeys. But the Essential packs a high powered, 36 v /5.1 Ah with a 187 Wh capacity, Lithium-ion battery.

Xiaomi say they’ve improved their batteries with BMS. Smart Battery Management System. The Essential takes only 3.5 hours to fully charge. much less time than some other electric scooters.

Giving a range of 20 km (12 miles), so definitely handy for planning short, cross town rides, even at short notice.

The working battery lifetime has also been extended when near full charge (93 per cent) is reached, and is also capable of at least 500 charging cycles.

However, scooter performance will noticeably drop off once the battery level drops below 5 per cent.

Tires and Suspension

Newbie riders need to be confident their electric scooter will give a comfortable, smooth ride. Not run the risk of flat tires. Even the best scooters can still catch a flat when riding pavement, concrete or tarmac.

The team at Xiaomi have upgraded their approach to the Essential by enhancing the pneumatic (air-filled) 8.5 in (21.6 cm) diameter tires. It’s an important upgrade because of the absence of shock absorbers.

Air filled, pneumatic tires are different from solid rubber tires. They allow the tread to flex and spread more readily to better grip the road surface. Also noticeable when taking corners and tight curves.

Self-sealing puncture repair

The Essential is similar to the Segway Ninebot Max and other budget to mid range scooters, in using enhanced Puncture-Proof tire technology.

Both front and rear tires contain a thick but flexible self-sealing substance to more robustly prevent flats.

It works by releasing the substance to immediately plug a puncture cut or tear caused by tread or wall damage during a ride.

The pneumatic tires will maintain enough air cushion to allow you to safely continue riding to where you’re heading.


Solid braking is all-important. Even if riding a scooter at low speed, or even walking speed.

The Xiamo Essential is equipped with a dual braking system consisting:

  • Front, E-ABS electronic anti-lock brake system
  • Rear, disc brake with KERS regenerative assist

Engine movement is slowed down. to a stopping distance of 6m (19.6 ft). by gently pressing the manual lever on the left handlebar.

The first type is a powerful 2w LED headlight mounted top of the stem. It puts out an impressive beam to clearly light up the way ahead of up to 9 m (29.5 ft).

Next, there’s a size upgrade for the red, rear light, extending right across the width of the rear fender. And will also flash each time you brake.

Thirdly, large amber capsule reflectors are mounted on the front of the stem, side wheel arms, front and rear.

Definitely, enhanced visibility for brief rides in the dusk. Longer night time rides will likely need an extra headlight for added safety.

Cockpit controls on many models of electric scooter are increasingly streamlined and tech. Including more entry-level, budget scooters.

Okai Neon Pro is an electric scooter definitely pro okay for the longer-range, urban commute.

Founded 17 years ago, and a vehicle supply arm from 2011, Okai built its expertise as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). making components for other brand products.

These days, Okai produce their own scooter brand. Their third and newest ride, is the totally streamlined, styled-up Neon Pro, released at the end of 2022.

The ES30 boasts 25.4 cms (10 in) tyres and 72 kms (44.7 m) max range. A scooter aimed at giving the urban commuter both a good looking and long distance, quality ride. It’s also up for some 25km/h (15.5 mph) speedy fun too.

So how bright does the Neon Pro shine?


Speed and Acceleration

Okai have upgraded the Neon Pro with a 350 watt motor, which packs a punchy, top speed of 25km/h (15.5 mph).Safe for local neighborhood limits while still offering a zippy urban commute.

Ideal condition speed tests can actually see the Neon Pro max out at 32.2 km/h (20 mph), with a firm, reliable hold of the ground.

It’s some serious bang for the Okai’s affordable buck. And more than matches other scooter motors powering those daily urban rides.

Speed Modes

You also get to customize your ride. Select a top speed to best suit your own scootering level or travel conditions. Flick between a safe urban commute and full throttle going-for-it.

  • Speed 1. 4.8 km/h (3 mph). Economy speed helps maintain battery level and extend travel distance.
  • Speed 2. 14.5 km/h (9 mph). Steady paced riding for flat urban mileage and even light terrain.
  • Speed 3. 30.6 km/h (19 mph). Sports modes setting for beating out those concrete speedways.

Hill Climbs

Steep inclines of 25 per cent? This scooter can make it to the top. However, every scooter does need to deal with those typical 10 per cent gradient hill climbs. Speed tests show Okai Neon Pro taking 15 secs at nearly 15 km/h (9 mph).

Beating many other scooters out of the ballpark. Including the Segway Ninebot Max, which manages 17 secs at nearly 13 km/h (8 mph).


Battery Power and Range

The ES30 is well equipped if you’re planning some extended rides or have a longer daily commute.

Okai have fitted a 48V | 705.6Wh Samsung 21700 Lithium battery to their Neon Pro, giving greater capacity and discharge at higher currents, and also a longer working life.

Under best riding conditions you may be able to achieve travel distances of up to 80 km (49 miles).

On a single 2A charging time of 8 hours (or 3A charging of 6 hours), a more realistic range is nearer a test average of 43 km (26 miles). Typically carrying a rider weight of 75kg (165.3 lbs)

It’s still further than 34.8 kms (21.6 miles) clocked up by the Segway Ninebot Max.

Okai have fitted its Neon Pro with 25.4 cm (10in) x 6.4 cm (2.5 in) pneumatic (air filled) tubeless tires, front and rear.

Ride quality and comfort will always rely on the ability of a scooter to absorb the shocks caused by an uneven ground surface, including half-hidden bumps and cracks.

An airfilled tire allows the tread to flex and spread out further, and gain a greater surface grip. It can give a firmer hold for cornering, and manoeuvering sideways.

In many cases, only scooters with tubeless tires can prevent the common pinch flat, also known as the snake bite.

A snake-bite is. two holes which result from the edge of the rim piercing the tread and/or bead of the tire. This happens when the wheel hits the curb with enough force to cause an instant flat.

Tubeless tires also work better with self healing, puncture gel, which line the tires of the Ninebot Max. Pre-installed self healing gel is not included with the Okia Neon Pro tires, neither front nor rear shock absorbers for suspension.

An electric scooter branded as Neon has to be all aglow with some awesome illumination. The Okai ES30 certainly seems to live up to its ‘Neon’ name. And then some.

The Neon Pro cockpit is a shining example of Hyper-minimalist cool. Giving intuitive, finger and thumb control within easy reach. The compact 44.7 cm (17.6in) handlebars are more than half enclosed, left and right, by a fine-textured, supergrip rubber.

Action is simplicity, itself, with three ‘switchable’ hi-res LCD screen displays atop the handlebars, including large, digital speedometers.

Build quality and Load capacity

Cool riding in the urban jungle means scooters need to have the look. Okai are putting their design chops out there with the Neon Pro.

The frame is 6000 Series Aircraft grade aluminum, built for maximum resilience in the urban sprawl. Okai say their labs have put the ES30 through 300,000 durability tests.

As with many of the new scooters, the elegant curves and clean lines look like the entire frame was cast from a single sheet of metal.

No unsightly welding joins the deck frame to front fork. The Neon Pro appears to stand invincible in a robust black or white finish.

The Okia deck is definitely built for the rigours of both daily, urban ride and long haul scootering.

The deck spans a generous 48.8cm (19.2 in) x 17.3cm (6.8in). almost matching the Segway Ninebot Max at 50.3 cm (20 in) x 17.4 cm (7 in).

There’s enough space for standing ‘firm but easy’ at your cockpit. Your foothold is also helped by a high grip, gray diamond-patterned rubber, covering the entire deck surface.

Deck to curb clearance is 7.6cm (3in) and a bright, white deck stand, front left-hand side folds neatly away.


Neon Pro is built for urban durability and long range commutes. Weighing in at 21 kgs (46.2 lbs), it’s no portable lightweight, either. It is slightly heavier than the Segway Ninebot Max (19kgs (41lbs).

However, the scooter does fold neatly down to a compact 116.8cm (46in) x 45.7 cm (18in) x 48.2 cm (19in). So no hassle in carrying up stairs, on public transport or storing in an auto trunk.

The folding action is an awesome single-action, lever-pull only. comparable to the Unagi Model One. And despite the handle bars not folding.

There’s no deck hook. The stem automatically locks into the center position. To unfold, the lever is pulled one time again to release the stem and firmly lock it back upright.

The Ninebot Max G30 offers an impressive 40-mile range, a smooth ride and a selection of smaller design elements that make it a great all-round electric scooter, but at 18kg, it’s certainly not as portable as other options available in 2020.

Best Today: Ninebot Max G30

While still technically illegal in the UK, electric scooters have become the transport of choice for city-dwellers looking to ditch public transport for something more eco-friendly and, let’s be honest, a lot more fun. The Ninebox Max G30 indicates a turning point in the blossoming market, offering better range, bigger tyres and quicker acceleration than most other scooters available right now.

The question is; is the Max G30 too big? Half of the appeal of electric scooters is portability, after all. We’ve spent a couple of months whizzing around on the Ninebot Max G30, and here’s what we think.

Pricing and availability

Our review sample was provided by GearBest, which coincidentally has the cheapest for the Ninebot Max G30 at the time of writing. If you don’t mind importing from overseas, you can grab the Ninebot Max G30 from GearBest for £550/699. The stock is in Poland according to the site, so you shouldn’t be waiting as long as you’d be if it was coming from mainland China.

If you’d rather buy the Ninebot Max G30 from a retailer in the UK, you can head directly to the Segway website, but be warned; it’s £729, £179 more expensive than buying from GearBest. If you’re looking for the lowest price from a UK retailer, we’d recommend Pure Scooters at £699.99. Those in the US have fewer options, limited to Amazon (799.99) and GearBest (699.99).

Bigger than your average scooter

Like most electric scooters available in 2020, the Ninebot Max G30 is certainly not designed for children, and that’s apparent not only with the tall, bulky design but the impressively fast acceleration on offer too. And while the Max G30 looks a lot like most other electric scooters you see whizzing through city streets, just about every aspect of the Max G30 has been maxed out, from the tyres to the build to the built-in battery.

We don’t think that’s a bad thing; the Max G30 was designed to give the maximum performance possible from an electric scooter, and by all intents and purposes, that’s what Ninebot parent company Segway has done.

The headline feature of the Max G30 is that it houses a 15,300mAh battery (551Wh) that offers an incredible 60km range – around 40 miles – depending on the mode you use and your weight. That’s around 15-20 miles more than what you’ll get from the competition, and should suit slightly longer city commutes.

It reaches top speeds of 15.5mph, and while that may not sound like much, it certainly feels fast when you’re riding along the road at max speed. It also has the benefit of being compliant with the proposed 15.5mph limit on electric scooters in the UK – if they’re legalised, anyway.

The tyres are another area where the Max G30 is maxed out. Most electric scooters on the market come with standard 8in tyres to help keep things smooth on bumpy surfaces, but they don’t offer much in terms of grip if you venture off the tarmacked path. The Max G30, on the other hand, comes with larger 10in wheels that offer improved grip as well as improved shock absorption, being able to soften the impact of bumps on the road as you’re riding along.

The tyres aren’t solid like other scooters, meaning you’ll have to pump them up from time-to-time, and there’s also a risk that you could puncture the tyre altogether, but a built-in jelly layer should protect the tyres from minor punctures. We’ve not had any issues with the tyres in the two months we’ve been using the scooter, and we’ve been thoroughly putting it through its paces.

You’ll also find a large colour display built into the handlebars that shows not only the current speed in km/h but the selected driving mode, remaining battery, Bluetooth connectivity status and even error messages in cases where something has gone wrong. It’s both bigger and better-placed than other electric scooters, making it easy to quickly glance at when riding along.

A fully-integrated twist bell in the handlebar lets you alert others to your presence without having a separate bell attached to the handle. It does provide a nice, clean look, but we have accidentally twisted it a few times when riding along a bumpy bit of road, much to the surprise of nearby pedestrians. You’ll also find side reflectors, a headlight and a rear-facing brake light to improve your overall safety when riding the Max G30 in low-light conditions.

But while it’s a powerhouse of a scooter, at 18kg, the Max G30 is certainly not portable. You can fold it down when not in use, but the overall weight and size of the scooter means it’s a bit of a pain to lug around on things like buses and trains – especially during the London rush hour, as we experienced first hand.

If you’re looking for a scooter to supplement your existing journey and not replace it entirely, we’re not sure the bulky, heavy G30 Max is the best solution for you. If that’s what you’re after, you can always take a look at our selection of the best electric scooters for more inspiration.

Incredible long-distance performance

Riding an electric scooter is an incredibly fun, enjoyable experience, and everyone that had a go with the Max G30 wanted to take it home. It’s not hard to see why either; with a 350W motor powering the experience, the Max G30 is a nippy electric scooter capable of providing quick acceleration and a stable ride regardless of road quality, and it can handle relatively steep hills with ease too.

Double-pressing the power button allows you to change the drive mode of the scooter, and in turn, the characteristics. Drive mode is the standard experience, offering decent acceleration with great range, and is the ideal for most people on the daily commute.

You’ve also got Sport mode that, while not increasing the overall speed, offers incredible acceleration that leaves most of the competition in the dust. Of course, the downside is that you won’t get the promised long-range in Sport mode, but that’s remedied with the Eco mode. As the name suggests, Eco mode is more eco-friendly than the other two modes, offering slower acceleration speeds in return for longer range; if you’re looking to hit the 40-mile range on offer from the Max G30, chances are you’ll achieve it in Eco mode.

Regardless of the mode you choose, the Max G30 provides a smooth, enjoyable riding experience both on and off-road thanks to the chunky 10in wheels. It’s admittedly not perfect when it comes to difficult elements like muddy grass, but that’s not what the scooter was designed for. If you want true off-roading capabilities, we’d recommend buying a BMX instead.

You’ve also got a regenerative braking system that both slows the scooter down and provides a little bit of extra charge for the battery, and with brakes on both wheels, the scooter is very quick to stop in an emergency situation. Just don’t be tempted to put your foot on the back wheel to slow down like with a push scooter, as it’ll likely damage the wheel cover rather than decrease your speed.

The downside to most electric scooters is the charger; most charging cables feature unwieldy bricks that aren’t easy to transport without a rucksack. The Max G30, however, has built that brick into the body of the scooter itself, meaning you only need a standard power cable to give the scooter some juice. It’s a much cheaper and more convenient option that allows you to double up on chargers and leave one at home and one at work, for example.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean it’ll charge any quicker than the competition, as the Max G30 takes around six hours to go from flat-to-full. We recommend topping it up every couple of days rather than waiting for it to completely discharge, but it’s really down to personal preference.


The Ninebot Max G30 is a phenomenal electric scooter with impressive acceleration and a 40-mile range, but it’s not for everyone. Yes, the Max G30 undoubtedly offers one of the best electric scooter experiences available right now thanks to the large 10in tyres that help reduce shock when riding along, and the three driving modes offer different levels of power to suit your journey, but at 18kg, it’s certainly not portable.

If you’re looking to completely ditch public transport for your daily commute then the Max G30 is a solid option, but the weight and heft make it difficult to take on trains and buses – less than ideal if you’re looking to bridge the gap between your the various modes of transport you currently use.

Overview Of The Ninebot Max

There are quite a few owners who love the Ninebot Max, and a big reason behind this is its simplicity. The team responsible for this scooter obviously made some savvy choices in specializing the scooter so it benefits many users and owners.

Potential owners really only need to answer one question for themselves? Would they sacrifice a bit of portability in exchange for proven quality and serious range? Any scooter choice involves some kind of tradeoff, but anybody okay with that particular tradeoff is likely to fall in love with their Ninebot Max.

This particular scooter has a distinctly favorable position, and it just is more privileged than any other scooter model in history. It has the best of both worlds at hand, in how the previous Ninebots and the Xiaomi both influenced its design. There simply isn’t another scooter out there with so much wisdom and insight built into it. Other Ninebots and the Xiaomi have sold millions of units. Ride-sharing companies have also used millions of them. That all gives the current Ninebot Max tremendous advantages over previous models.

There’s no doubt that the Ninebot Max happens to be a great escooter, definitely one of the modern greats that is still rather economical for most consumers. This Segway release is a genuine commuter scooter featuring versatility, a full feature set, durability, and quality. It also avoids a majority of issues that haunt other scooters.

High-Caliber Build

When I first look at the Ninebot Max, I do see the Xiamoi influence in its build. It’s only natural to think of them as the same. Still, in terms of overall strength and size, the Ninebot Max happens to be bigger and stronger. The build quality certainly reflects all of this. This isn’t a small scooter, regardless of how it looks to the human eye.

Many of the Ninebot Max parts are robust and big. The stem is a part that typically suffers the most from bumps and vibrations, but it’s really thick on this one, more than capable of withstanding serious punishment. Fortunately, the tires are also bigger, meaning they’ll offer serious shock absorption for you and your scooter.

The Ninebox Max is predominantly made using aluminum alloy. Auxiliary parts are also made using silicon, rubber, plastic, and steel.

Segway Ninebot Max G30 – Ride Balance, Stability, And Quality

The Ninebot Max offers serious ride quality, far superior to any scooter in the sub-1000 market segment. This happens even though it doesn’t have any suspension when it’s just out of the box. Still, you’ll only feel the biggest holes, cracks, bumps, and road imperfections.

There are two reasons for this.

First of all, something different from the Ninebot ES line is that the Ninebot Max uses pneumatic, or air-filled, tires. These are a lot better in terms of absorbing shock, meaning your rides are going to be more table. The tires are also designed to be self-healing, making them less vulnerable to flats as compared to conventional pneumatic road tires. They can sustain small punctures as large as 6 mm.

Secondly, the new Ninebot Max comes with 10-in. tires, whereas the majority of similarly proiced scooters come with 8.5-in. tires. That might not sound like a lot, but there are serious differences in balance, stability, and smooth riding.

It’s my opinion that the Ninebot Max forged boldly ahead in places that the Xiaomi M365 Pro held back. I’ve had a Xiaomi in the past, and while I liked it, I often believed that had the tires been larger and less prone to going flat, I would have loved it twice as much. The Ninebot Max features tires heavily, which deals with a frequent pain point of Xiaomi owners, being flat tires. The rides are also more likely to be carefree gliding. Nice job, Segway.

The ride smoothness is certainly a huge feature of the Ninebot Max. Having said that, the control and turning are rather awesome in their own right.

When you ride this scooter, you’re going to notice how the noise is rather quiet.

Cruise Control

Not only does the Ninebot Max feature cruise control, but you can turn this on and off using an app on your smartphone. Activate by holding your throttle while riding at a particular speed for a span of 10 seconds.

I would assume many of you already know this, but just in case you don’t, once your scooter is in cruise control mode, there’s no need for you to hold your throttle any longer. The scooter keeps riding along at a consistent speed. You can stop your cruise control by activating your brake.

Daily Usage And Riding Experience on the Segway Ninebot Max G30

I’ve gone through quite a few user reports focused on the Ninebot Max, and one word that comes up frequently is ‘fun’. Users have called this particular scooter ‘a hoot’, ‘a blast’, and even ‘a joy to ride’. Numerous parents tout how their kids can’t seem to get enough from it.

I’m not surprised. The Ninebot Max represents the modern generation coming from the Ninebot and Xiaomi lineages. It’s got the lowest defect rate, far fewer flats, much broader range, and the features and power offer users seriously fun rides.
