Fat-tire electric bikes are a dime a dozen nowadays, but which are the best?
From stable and user-friendly bike path cruisers to high powered bruisers built for hunting and heavy off-road use, e-bikes with fat tires are having a bit of a moment right now. Whatever your reason for wanting a fat tire e-bike, the Electric Bike Report staff of experts and bike geeks have tested some of the best money can buy. And while there are many worthy competitors, we wanted to showcase our choices for the best fat tire electric bikes of 2023 based off of our extensive testing and riding.
Birthed from Alaskan snow and New Mexican sand, the ancestors of modern fat bikes first came about in the 90’s as a means to explore (and race) in terrain unkind to your typical bicycle tire. Think mud, deep sand and soft snow. They’ve had high-points of popularity in recent years, but it wasn’t until the rise of the electric bike that we saw the masses rolling around on fat tires. Motors made the heavy, relatively inefficient bikes more friendly to ride and people seem to like the big tires because they give you a feeling of confidence and stability — not to mention many think they just look cool. Their popularity has exploded, and fat tires have been adopted into nearly every category of e-bike.
So which fat tire e-bike is best for you? That’s a tough question with an answer that differs from person to person. We’ve compiled this list of our picks for the best fat tire electric bikes to help you suss out your best bike based on your specific needs.
While this list is comprised of e-bikes that check in with no less than 3” wide tires, you can also check out our picks for the best overall electric bikes of 2023 if you want a little more variety in tire size.
Aventon Aventure 2
The Best Class 3 Electric Fat Bike, 2023
A disruptive model when it first came into the fat-tire e-bike world, the Aventon Aventure set a new high bar for what consumers could expect from a sub-2,000 electric fat bike when it first entered the market, and the followup Aventure 2 built upon that legacy. While many of its contemporaries have caught up in certain aspects, the Aventure 2 still stands out.
It’s not just the 750W Bafang rear hub motor or the 720Wh fully-integrated battery that have us so enamored with this electric fatty, it’s also that Aventon managed to chock it full of little features and extras that are still somewhat uncommon on many e-bikes in this category. It’s got a torque sensor which both allows for a more natural feel, and also gives it better battery efficiency making you go further without a larger, heavier battery. Throw in a full-color LCD display, metal fenders, a full Shimano Altus drivetrain, Tektro hydraulic brakes and, to top it all off, it’s just a really nice riding bike. The handling is sporty without being overly athletic and, though it is a bit heavy, it handles light doubletrack surprisingly well.
It also comes available in a step-over and step-through frames with a selection of good looking colors to choose from (a standout feature in a sea of black and white fat bikes).
The Aventure ships as a Class 2 e-bike, but like most of the bikes on this list it’s easily convertible to Class 3 through an app that paris to your bike, which gives it a top pedal-assisted speed of 28 mph. We’ve tested and even compared this bike head-to-head against some of its biggest competitors, and the results don’t lie: It’s a new breed of affordable electric fat bike.

To put it short, we’re really big fans of the Aventure and we think you would be too which is why it leads off our list of the best fat tire electric bikes of 2023.
Pro’s
- Unlocked to Class 3, this is an extremely fast and torquey e-bike.
- The full-color LCD display is great and features a percentage based battery readout
- The 720Wh battery is efficiency used for great range thanks to the torque sensor
- It’s got a unique styling for a fat e-bike that reminds us of another Aventon we really liked, the Level.
Con’s
- At 77lbs (we reviewed a large with the optional front and included rear racks), the Aventure is slightly heavier than many of its peers.
The Mokwheel Basalt
This beast of an e-bike has the brawn to carry its rider just about anywhere witha strong motor and 450 lbs payload capacity, and can be accompanied by some seriously impressive optional accessories.
Rad Power Bikes RadRover 6 Plus
The Best Class 2 Electric Fat Bike, 2023
We’ve long been fans of Rad Power Bikes’ RadRover line and many e-bikes on this list owe some thanks to the Rover for helping popularize fat tires into the mainstream. While there was plenty to appreciate with past iterations of the Rover, the RadRover 6 Plus is a marked upgrade over its predecessors in such a way that it demands to be seriously considered among anybody’s list for the best electric fat tire bikes.
There is a noticeable aesthetic overhaul compared to previous models that is largely credited to the new semi-integrated battery housed in a more modern, angular frame. There is also a unique dual display in the center and left of the cockpit that’s functional and just plain different.
But looks aren’t all that’s new here. Rad also added hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors to bolster the stopping power and keep riders more in control when needing to come to a stop.
In a category of e-bike that’s often singularly-focused on speed and raw power, the Rad Power Bikes RadRover 6 Plus takes a different, more measured approach. It’s got a 750W rear hub motor that’s very similar to what you’ll find on many other bikes on this list of the best fat tire e-bikes, but the power delivery from that motor is much more gentle, particularly at low speeds. What this does is give the bike a very predictable and controllable power delivery that’s friendly to new riders or those who want a bike that’s easy to ride, all while still being plenty torquey to help you summit hilly areas.
If you want easily-controllable power from a bike that’s backed by an industry-leading e-bike company, the RadRover 6 plus may be the best choice for you.
Pro’s
- The 750W motor feels refined – it’s got plenty of torque but it delivers it smoothly.
- The 672Wh battery delivers impressive range even for its size.
- The hydraulic disc brakes performed very well in our testing, and they added it to the newest Rover model while keeping the price relatively affordable.
- While it may be subjective, we really love the new look of the redesigned RadRover.
Con’s
- The LED screen on the left is noticeably less bright than the center one.
- The cable management feels a bit messy.
The Blix Ultra
With speed, power, and a myriad of options to add versatility, the Blix Ultra is practical and completely fun to ride.
Lectric XP 3.0
Best Ultra Affordable Electric Fat Bike, 2023
The Lectric XP 2.0 already stood out by proving to be a quality folding bike with a solid spread of features at a very reasonable price. The combined package of integrated features such as the rear cargo rack, lights, suspension, and fenders is something you would only expect to see on more expensive models. Now Lectric has raised the bar even further by packing the new XP 3.0 full of upgrades and new features, while keeping the bike at the same price of around a thousand dollars.
The new Lectric XP 3.0 features a motor with increased peak wattage and torque for better hill climbing, a better gear ratio for ease of pedaling, larger brake rotors for better stopping power, an improved suspension for a more comfortable ride, and optional accessories for increased passenger capacity.
All of that capability on a bike that can fold up and fit behind a seat or in a trunk made it easy to choose the Lectric XP 3.0 for the best fat tire e-bike of 2023!
Pro’s
- The XP 3.0 only adds to the already great value of the previous model. For the same price, the 3.0 offers upgrades to the baseline integrated features and even adds new ones.
- While the motor on the XP 3.0 is still a 500W rear-hub, it now features an increased 55Nm of torque and 1000W peak output.
- An improved gear ratio and larger high gear result in a more efficient application of rider input.
- Increased brake rotor size – now 180mm instead of 160mm – gives more responsiveness and efficiency braking despite being mechanical instead of hydraulic disc brakes.
- The 3.0’s suspension fork has an increased travel distance at 50mm, making for a smoother ride on- and off-road.
- The weight capacity of the rear rack has doubled to a max of 150lbs, allowing for additional passenger capacity.
Con’s
- We’d have loved to see the option to operate the XP 3.0 without its key in the bike, but that is one upgrade Lectric has not yet made.
- While the 3.0’s grips are improved, we still would prefer something a bit softer.
The Velotric Nomad 1
With sleek design, excellent range, and plenty of power for speed and uphill travel, the Nomad 1 offers solid value for its price.
Mokwheel Basalt
The Best Fat Tire Electric Bike for Camping, 2023
Half the fun of camping is exploring the area visited. E-bikes offer campers the opportunity to go farther, see more and not be wiped out at the end of the day. The Mokwheel Basalt is unusual among e-bikes in that not only is it well-suited to off-road exploring, but it can serve as a valuable resource thanks to some of its unusual accessories. As a Class 3 e-bike with a maximum speed of 28 mph, it is terrific for getting around most anywhere.
The Mokwheel Basalt may not look all that unusual at first glance. It features a 750W brushless hub motor that can turn 90Nm of torque, making it suitable for riding steep hills, whether paved or not. The 110mm-travel suspension fork improves control on bumpy terrain and the 7-speed Shimano drivetrain helps both uphill and down. Hydraulic disc brakes offer terrific power even on steep downhills and Chaoyang 26 x 4-in. tires provide the necessary cushion and traction for exploring the backcountry.
What really sets the Mokwheel Basalt apart is its massive 940Wh battery that can power a 1000W power inverter that has the ability to run such essentials as phone chargers, coffee makers, electric grills and laptops. Planning to be gone more than a day or two? Mokwheel also offers a solar charger to keep the juice running to those essentials.
Riders can also choose between a traditional frame and a step-thru design. Because it has a 450-lb. payload capacity, campers who want to go bag dinner can carry it back to camp as well. This is ideal for anyone planning to go camping but still wants electricity.
Not only is it the best fat tire electric bike for camping, it’s just a good fat option period.
Pro’s
- 750W brushless hub motor has the power and torque necessary to climb hills and deliver riders to a maximum assisted speed of 28 mph for spirited riding
- Comes in both a traditional frame and a step-thru to fit a broad range of riders
- Can power a number of electric appliances while camping with the help of the optional 1000W power inverter
- 4-in.-wide tires and a front suspension fork make for a very comfortable ride
- 450-lb. payload capacity makes it terrific for hunters wanting to bring home their game
Con’s
The Aventon Sinch
With its low step-thru frame, big tires and suspension fork, this is a comfortable and easy to ride e-bike perfect for accompanying you on road trips and outdoor adventures.
Himiway Cruiser
Best Long Range Electric Fat Bike, 2023
If any bike on this list has earned a cult following, it’s the Himiway Cruiser.
Loved for its sheer power and massive 840Wh battery, the Cruiser is the brute of the fat-tire e-bike category. While many 750W bikes curb power at low speeds (like when you’re starting from a stop) and roll it on as you accelerate, the Himiway seemingly gives you access to all 750W from the gun. If you’re looking for speed, this bike is a lot of fun.
Backing up that power is a larger-than-average 840Wh battery that gives this bike a great range on a single charge. To be clear: you can find larger batteries on other fat tire e-bikes (even on this best fat tire e-bike list). Heck, some even have dual battery setups. But most of those larger standard batteries will run the price of the bike over 2,000, so the Cruiser hits a sweet spot for us in terms of value and providing long rides. Our Max PAS range test yielded a 44 mile ride before the battery gave out which is a pretty impressive number.
The Cruiser also comes spec’d with a Shimano Altus drivetrain, Tektro Aires mechanical brakes and a fender and light package that’s comparable to other bikes in this category. It does also come stock with a rear rack, which is a nice feature if you’re looking to lug some cargo, and it’s backed up by a 2-year warranty.
Like most others, this bike ships as a Class 2 e-bike but can easily be adjusted to Class 3. If you’re in the market for a rocket ship of an e-bike the Himiway Cruiser might be worth a look.
Pro’s
- The 48V 17.5Ah battery provides plenty of range. Even for a bigger, stronger e-bike, you can expect many miles on a single charge.
- Super powerful e-bike that you feel the moment you start pedaling. If you are someone who likes power, you are going to like this e-bike.
- The fat tires smoothly roll over surfaces with ease.
- The bike was very stable, even at high speeds and we had high levels of traction on nearly every surface.
Con’s
- Slight delay in pedal assistance when you start pedaling. There is about a one second motor lag.
- PAS has a lot of power and gets you up to speed quickly, but we would have liked a little more variation in how much speed you get amongst the different assist levels.
The Denago Fat 1
With its 750W motor and huge 921.6Wh battery, this speedy newcomer has proven that it can go the distance.
Velotric Nomad 1
The Best Fat Tire Electric Bike for E-Bike Newbies
For those new to the world of e-bikes, making a purchase can be intimidating. For most consumers, getting the most bang for your buck is essential, especially when it comes to versatility, performance, and quality. Fortunately, the folks at Velotric seem to understand this struggle and have accounted for the balance of those three considerations with their latest release.
Having entered the e-bike market in 2021 through a crowdfunding campaign, Velotric had to make a bold statement in order to stand out. Its first bike, the Discover 1, was a respectably-specced, visually appealing e-bike with good performance geared towards commuters. For their second entry, the Nomad 1, Velotric has retained the Discover’s attractive geometry and flashy colors while opening up the bike’s possibilities with off-road capability.
While some of the Nomad 1’s components are unfamiliar to us, the core elements of the motor and battery bear the mark of quality. Both feature some remarkable boosts in efficiency thanks to Velotric’s team of highly experienced engineers, allowing the Nomad 1’s 750W motor and relatively standard 48V, 692 Wh battery to work together to provide plenty of uphill power and truly impressive range.
With a simple and straightforward interface, both step-thru and high-step frame styles, and a nice spectrum of integrated features, the Nomad 1 offers functionality for a wide range of riders and provides great value while doing so.
Pro’s
- The Nomad 1’s angular design and refreshing variety of six color options split between its two frame styles go a long way in making this stylish e-bike stand out from the crowd.
- We were surprised and impressed by the Nomad 1’s range, a feature granted by Velotric’s efficient tuning of the motor and battery systems.
- The bike’s PAS provides measured increases in assistance at lower levels for casual riding, but kicks up the power in higher levels when you need more speed or assistance on inclines.
- The Nomad 1’s proprietary 750W motor is beefy enough to push the bike up just about any hill with limited input from the rider.
- The bike’s fat tires and suspension fork provide stability and traction for travel on dirt and paved surfaces alike.
- With its price tag in the neighborhood of 1500, the Nomad 1 provides the features and performance of similar e-bikes closer to the 2000 range.
Con’s
- While it does the job of relating the battery’s charge level, the bar-style readout on the Nomad 1’s display is less reliable and accurate as percentage-based versions we have come to appreciate.
The Rad Power RadRover 6 Plus
The RadRover 6 Plus offers a full complement of reliable components and solid performance, making it a great choice for new e-bike riders.
Blix Ultra
The Best Fat Tire Electric Bike for Dual Battery Needs, 2023
Whether you need to travel extreme distances, haul a fair amount of cargo, bring along an additional passenger, or all three simultaneously – you’ll need the battery power to do it. No other fat tire e-bike is going to cover these bases better than the Blix Ultra, thanks to its dual battery capability.
The Blix Ultra can hold two 48V, 672 Wh batteries for a claimed range of up to 80 miles, which our testing supports. Dual batteries are not uncommon in the world of e-bikes, though they do usually appear on models that are more dedicated to one kind of functionality (such as cargo bikes). Even among Blix’s lineup, the Ultra shares its dual battery capability with two of its more specialized siblings, but it stands apart from them due to its greater adaptability and versatility.
Fat tire e-bikes in general aim to be more all-purpose machines thanks to their ability to travel on rougher surfaces just as well as paved paths. The Blix Ultra raises the bar with a range of optional accessories that expand its cargo and/or passenger capacity, without changing the core elements of the fat tire design. On its own, the Ultra’s 750W motor and PAS system make it a speed demon, but also give it the power and tuning to effectively haul additional weight.
The Ultra’s ability to hold two batteries equals greater range and lasting assistance from the motor even under load. That’s why this e-bike is our only pick for this category!
Pro’s
- Customizability is the greatest feature of the Ultra, with the ability to double its range by connecting two batteries, or adding racks for added cargo/passenger capacity.
- The Ultra connects to the Blix Bike app through Bluetooth, allowing a phone to function as a secondary display, and making it easy to switch from Class 2 to Class 3 mode.
- The 750W motor and PAS system is designed to support additional weight, and can bring the bike up to top speeds quickly even at low settings.
- Unlike other dual battery-capable e-bikes, the Ultra’s suspension fork and fat tires make it possible to travel off-road easily.
- To complement its cargo hauling capabilities, the Ultra’s top tube is functionally a hybrid between high-step and step-thru designs. It gives the bike a more aggressive look appropriate for its speed and power.
- The Ultra’s cockpit is arranged well, so that all of its controls are easily accessible.
Con’s
- While it helps to keep the cockpit layout compact, the Ultra’s tiny display is not able to display a full scope of information simultaneously.
- The Ultra’s extended wheelbase (for a fat tire bike) increases stability for cargo hauling, but it also makes turns more difficult.
Rad Power Bikes RadExpand 5
The Best Electric Fat Bike for Smaller Riders
Finding an e-bike that fits you isn’t just important when it comes to color, riding style, or personality. Proper size and proportion is important to ensure that the mechanics of the human body are used effectively in concert with those of the bike, and use does not result in pain or injury. For smaller riders, finding an appropriately-sized e-bike can be challenging due to the abundance of large, full-size frames on the market, and in some cases, options that do fit may sacrifice features or functionality.
Enter the Rad Power Bikes RadExpand 5. This compact, foldable e-bike evolved from the RadMini 4 in some surprising ways, leaning into the fact that it is an e-bike first, and a folding bike second. In addition to a rad-(get it?)-ically different frame design, the RadExpand features quality components, a stout frame, a respectable 672Wh battery with good range, a powerful 750W rear hub motor for speed and hill-climbing, and even a solid rear cargo rack, all at a great price.
For riders within the 4’10” to 5’10” height bracket, this means you won’t have to make sacrifices. The RadExpand 5 is a fully functional e-bike in a fun size, and the fact that it folds for transport or storage is just one additional feature to appreciate.
We do wish the RadExpand had held on to the RadMini 4’s LCD display instead of eschewing it for a simplified indicator panel, but the change doesn’t have any effect on the bike’s actual performance. Bottom line: the RadExpand is a great choice for those looking for a smaller e-bike.
Pro’s
- Instead of the narrow, somewhat shaky handlebar system on the old model, the RadExpand 5 has a great BMX-style setup that is wider, sturdier, and still able to fold down.
- While it is still relatively heavy for a folding bike, its 62 lb frame does collapse down to a manageable size for storage and transport.
- As a Rad Power bike, you know you’re purchasing a quality product with reliable components.
- The RadExpand features great specs for the price. Its component package of a 672 Wh battery, 750W motor, 7-speed drivetrain, and effective brakes (though they are mechanical) is a good deal on a bike from a tried and tested brand.
- The bike’s handling is responsive, nimble, and smooth, making it great for experienced riders and novices alike.
- As with other Rad Power bikes, the motor input is gradual and intuitive, allowing the bike to always feel under your control.
Con’s
- The velcro strap included with the RadExpand effectively holds its two halves together when folded, but we’d love to see a more permanent feature installed on the frame.
- While the light-based indicator panel works fine for showing PAS level, lights, etc., we can’t help but feel that a full LCD display would have been better.
The Blix Dubbel
With a rider height range of 5’ 0” to 6′ 2”, the Blix Dubbel offers lots of versatility to a wide range of riders including some on the smaller end of the spectrum.
Himiway Cobra
The Best All-Terrain Electric Fat Bike, 2023
While many fat tire e-bikes are labeled and marketed as all-terrain machines, few actually come with the equipment to back that up. The Himiway Cobra, however, boasts a full four-bar linkage suspension and coil suspension more akin to something you’d find on a true mountain bike. This allows it to handle larger bumps and rougher terrain that would be jarring and difficult for riders on other fat tire bikes with just a front suspension fork.
The Himiway Cobra comes with all the features you’d expect for off-road capability; a torquey 750W rear hub motor with torque sensors for more intuitive control, a massive 20 Ah battery for extended range, 4.8” CST tires for loose terrain, and 180mm hydraulic disc brakes for effective stopping power.
With that said, the Cobra sits at a great price for what it brings to the table, but it’s important to remember that it is a hybrid sort of design and will not compare with a high-end dedicated mountain bike with top-shelf parts. The Cobra is meant as a “gateway” to off-roading, allowing its rider to approach exploring and adventuring worry-free. Think Jeep trails, double-track and fire roads.
As a fat tire e-bike with this extreme capability and affordable price tag, the Himiway Cobra is somewhat in a league of its own, which is why it’s our top pick for this category!
Pro’s
- For its price of around 2500, the Himiway Cobra offers off-road performance comparable to more expensive, more dedicated e-bikes.
- Even with Himiway’s first attempt at a four-bar suspension, the Cobra is surprisingly functional on more technical surfaces.
- We appreciate seeing the upgrade from the mechanical disc brakes on the Himiway Cruiser to the hydraulic brakes on the Cobra.
- The Cobra performs great on doubletrack and feels comfortable in rougher, off-road environments.
- The 750W motor’s torque sensors make it appropriately responsive and precise for the bike’s natural habitat.
- The (extra) fat 4.8” tires feel super stable when engaging with loose or slippery ground.
- We really can’t say enough about the Cobra’s value!
Con’s
- We felt the faux leather handlebar grips to be ill-suited to the bike’s need for precise control in more demanding environments.
- A throttle is always a great feature on an e-bike, but we would prefer to see a lever instead of a twist control to avoid accidental activation.
The QuietKat Jeep
With the option for a massive 1,000W motor, and a beefy suspension, this higher end all-terrain bike truly lives up to its Jeep branding.
Aventon Sinch Step-Through
The Best Folding Fat Tire Electric Bike, 2023
While some of the other fat tire e-bikes on this page have also had the ability to fold, the Aventon Sinch does it just a bit better, making it a slightly more well-rounded machine. For this reason, it remains as our top pick in this category for the second year in a row.
Aventon’s Sinch is one of the more accessible e-bikes you’ll find on the fat tire market. The low stepover height of the frame and 20” diameter wheels don’t make it as intimidating for smaller riders to try out compared to many beefier fat tire bikes, but even 6’ riders will find joy on this bike too. The fact that it folds down and can be tossed in the back of most vehicles is a serious bonus.
We’re always hesitant to list aesthetic reasons for consideration on a best list as it’s easily the most subjective thing that varies from person to person, but both the green and red frames paired with the tan wall tires help the bike pop without being too flashy so you’ll have pride in riding around on a good looking bike.
But on e-bikes we know that looks fade while performance sustains and we like what the Sinch has under the hood as well. The 500W motor and 672Wh battery pair well to deliver 30-50 miles of range, the 20” X 4” fat tires are versatile enough for fire roads and paved riding alike, and the 45mm RST fork is sturdy while helping absorb some road vibration.
Now since this one is taking home the prize for best folding fat bike, let’s talk about the frame. Its overall construction is solid, and the miles we’ve logged on the Sinch have given us no concerns about the hinge that connects the front and rear half of the bike. Sometimes we see a little more flex there than we like, but that’s not been the case so far with the Sinch. The fact that this feels like a full-sized bike, but is capable of being fairly compact if you need to tuck it away in a corner will be a huge plus for many riders.

The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to customs brokerage fees, import duties, and taxes after the shipment reaches the destination country. Additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient because we have no control over these government-imposed charges and cannot determine what they may be. Customs policies vary greatly among countries. Therefore, we cannot, and will not, offer advice about taxes in your country. We report the amount of the sale on the Customs form. Please do not ask us to claim less than the actual purchase amount. It is the customers responsibility to know the legality of the e-bikes ordered in their country. Do not order items that are illegal to import into your country. Laws are different in every country and we cannot keep up with them all. It is your responsibility to check with your Customs office to see if your country permits the shipment of our e-bikes to your country.
- As the buyer, it is your responsibility to find out that information before you order. Please contact your local customs office for information.
- To avoid a delay in receiving your order from customs, consider the following:
- Provide us with a phone number where you can be reached by customs when your e-bikes arrives. This phone number will be listed on the commercial invoice so customs can reach you to clear your order.
- Please do not refuse a shipment or ignore requests from carriers regarding duty and/or tax liability charges. Be aware that most carriers will hold a shipment for 5 days after arrival in your country before they return it to the sender.
- We do not refund original shipping charges for goods that are refused for delivery at customs.
- We will deduct all additional fees resulting from refused international shipments from your refund.
- If we are charged for YOUR taxes and duties on the shipment or incur any penalty or lawsuit related to your order or shipment, we will post the charge to your credit card.
- If the package is seized by Customs for any reason and we do not receive the package back, we will NOT issue you a refund since, obviously, local laws and regulations determine the fate of the package. If we do receive the package back after being seized, you are still responsible for the shipping charges and any other fees plus penalties incurred.
- We ship via UPS and Fedex for most e-bikes, USPS for small parts and accessories, and freight for big e-bikes.
- If you don’t receive tracking information from us within six business days of your order confirmation, feel free to follow up with us at support@strykerebikes.com
- Please inspect the packaging of your items when they arrive.
- If there are any e-bikes damaged upon arrival, you can file a warranty claim to get replacement parts for anything that’s damaged.
- If your item(s) do arrive damaged, please send photos to support@strykerebikes.com and we will process an insurance claim on your behalf.
Cancellations Refunds:
- All orders canceled are subject to an administration fee equal to 15% of the total order amount, whether or not your order has shipped. This is a fee that covers administrative and personnel fees.
- If your item is on backorder and you accept the backorder, we will hold your payment until the e-bikes ships. If you decide to cancel before a backorder arrives and is processed for shipping, we will not charge a fee.
- If you order has shipped, you (the buyer) will be responsible for actual return shipping charges. Refunds will only be issued to the original credit card that you use when placing your order.

IN ORDER TO REMAIN IN COMPLIANCE WITH PAYPAL AND OTHER CREDIT CARD PORTAL POLICIES: DELIVERY ADDRESS CHANGES ARE NOT PERMITTED ONCE AN ITEM HAS ALREADY SHIPPED. ANY RETURNS THIS MAY CAUSE WILL BE TREATED AS A REGULAR RETURN PER OUR RETURN POLICY. PLEASE READ OUR FULL POLICY BELOW FOR INFORMATION ON QUALIFYING RETURNS.
Damages
Please read the instructions below very carefully as they pertain to refunds and replacements
A PHOTO AND/OR VIDEO IS ALWAYS REQUIRED FOR PROOF OF DEFECT. IT IS A CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEND PROOF OF DEFECT, IF ANY. MOST OFTENTIMES A USER ERROR/OMISSION MAY CAUSE THE MALFUNCTION, HENCE THE REASON FOR PROOF IS REQUESTED BY ALL MANUFACTURERS.
Inspect your purchase to ensure that it is in good condition upon arrival and that the number of boxes on the delivery bill match the number of boxes you received. If your item(s)/box arrives damaged or short, it is very important you follow these exact instructions:
- Note the damage on the delivery bill (also known as a bill of lading)
- Note any shortage of items/boxes
- Take photographs of all sides of the box as well
- REFUSE DELIVERY WITHOUT EXCEPTION
- Send the photos and videos to support@buymobilitychairs.com so we can process an insurance claim/replacement.
Examples of damage to a box are: rips, holes, crush, dings, etc.
If the box/package looks OK but you feel the item within may be damaged:
In the event the damage is concealed (meaning the box looks good but the item within is damaged or defective)DO NOT THROW THE BOX AWAY and take pictures/videos of the box as well as the product. This also applies if the product was delivered via Fedex/UPS at the front door: do not throw the box away and take pictures/videos of the box as well as the product.
- Disposing of the box at any point or not following the above procedures annuls our ability to process refunds and replacements.
- Insurance/manufacturers require photographs and videos of both the box (all sides) and the product.
- Please send videos or photos as requested to show proof of damage or defect.
- Failure to show proof of any defect voids any rights of refund.
- Please allow a reasonable amount of time for resolution (usually 2-3 business days)
It is very important that any damage or shortages are:
- Reported within five calendar days of receipt of the merchandise, due to carrier insurance regulations and rules.
- We reserve the right to first attempt to repair the unit as new with a part or professional assistance.
In order to receive an immediate refund or replacement for concealed damage:
- You agree to hold onto the damaged item and not dispose of it until further instructions are provided by the manufacturer or by us.
- You agree to not dispose of the original box/carton the item came in.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WILL AN ITEM BE REFUNDED OR REPLACED IF THE ITEM OR ITS BOX/PACKAGING HAVE BEEN DISCARDED.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us immediately at 407-900-2837 and we will be glad to promptly assist you or answer any concerns.
Cancellations Refunds
We want you to be completely satisfied with your order. Most purchases may be canceled at no cost prior to shipment. If there are any third party or carrier errors, you agree to let us help you resolve these in a timely manner.
Should you decide to cancel the order:
- You (the buyer) will be responsible for all shipping charges, including return shipping and any manufacturer restocking fees.
- The refund will be processed once the item has been received at the warehouse.
- Please note not all manufacturers accept returnsit is best to verify with us prior to placing your order.
- No returns permitted on any custom-built, or made to order items
- Please see Return Policy for brand-specific return guidelines
For those items that are non-returnable but arrive damaged, we will promptly provide a replacement at absolutely no cost to you pursuant to our Shipping Returns Policy.
Because we cannot sell used items, all returned items must be in new and unused condition, including original packaging (please do not assemble or modify the product in any way).
Shipping Insurance
BuyMobilityChairs provides complimentary shipping insurance with all orders; we want your item to be fully insured and protected while in transit. Shipping insurance allows a merchant to replace or refund an order that suffers damage due to shipping, at no cost to the buyer.
By accepting a damaged box and signing for it in good condition, however, a customer acknowledge they wish to receive the order as is and cancel the right to any refund or replacement. Any box visibly damaged during shipping may indicate a damaged item within. This means a customer should always notate the damage to a box or item on the delivery bill, otherwise insurance cannot be filed and refunds/replacements cannot be made. We know this is pretty straight-forward, but we are required to disclose it! 🙂
We strive for your 100% satisfaction. In the event we process an insurance claim for damage, please bear in mind that we will always provide a refund or replacement without you having to wait for the claim process to be over. In doing so, however, you agree to hold onto the damaged item until the claim process is over. Refusal to warehouse the damaged item means shipping insurance cannot be executed and voids the ability to provide refunds/replacements. This is common practice with all U.S. carriers (UPS, Fedex, etc) when processing insurance claims for refunds or replacements and does not in any way make you responsible for the delivery damage.

Delivery Method
All heavy freight orders are delivered curbside, which is industry standard for all manufacturers. The shipping company will call you ahead of time to schedule a delivery appointment, and deliver curbside via freight truck. All smaller orders are delivered via regular Fedex/UPS.
If you choose another type of delivery (such as Front Door Delivery), please retain the email confirming any alternate delivery method for your records. For your protection and peace of mind, any guarantee is only provided in writing and never verbally.
It is important to note that some deliveries may incur additional costs due to remote / hard to access / limited access locations. Although rare, we will promptly let you know if this is the case so that you may choose whether or not to proceed with the shipment.
What is Front Door/Garage Delivery?
When this service is requested on a shipment going to a business, the carrier will take the freight into the storefront for delivery. On a residential delivery. the carrier will take the shipment onto the property, or into the garage of the residence. They will not necessarily deliver inside the front door, but rather at the front door. Please note this is the case with any shipment from any company and is a carrier policy, not our own.
When a driver delivers to a specific room in a house or business (for example a basement or 2nd floor), the requested service is known as White Glove service. Since this is very time consuming, only specific shipping companies offer white glove service. If you require white glove service, please let us know.
Not all white glove quotes will be the same, since not all home deliveries are the same. Number of stairs, corridors, etc may require a different quote and we will let you know if this is the case.
Storage Fees Delays
It is understood that by placing an order you are ready to accept immediate delivery of the merchandise. Should you need the merchandise to arrive on a specific date, this date must be relayed when you place your order.

If your order ships and you choose to delay delivery, the shipping company unfortunately reserves the right by law to return your merchandise to the manufacturer, or charge you storage fees. Generally, shipping companies will not allow your item to be stored on premisesfor insurances reasonsfor longer than 3-5 business days.
- If they return your merchandise to the manufacturer, you will be responsible for shipping both ways, as well as all restocking fees. Please note these are substantial for larger freight items so do not delay shipments for your own sake.
- If the merchandise is non-returnable and gets returned to the manufacturer (who thus refuses it), you will be responsible for the full cost of the item, including any third party and shipping fees.
- If the shipping company chooses to retain the item on premises and charge you shipping fees, you agree to pay such fees in full prior to the delivery of the merchandise.
In essence, please do not delay delivery of the merchandise, as shipping companies have very little flexibility due to legal and insurance restraints. You will be responsible for all costs associated with self-imposed delays.
WE TRY TO SHIP AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE INFORM US OF SPECIFIC DELIVERY DATE REQUIREMENTS AS SOON AS YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER.
Is Free Shipping Offered Everywhere in the US?
Much as we strive to offer absolutely free shipping during our promotional periods, there are some locations where we cannot offer free shipping. These are usually states such as Hawaii and Alaska, but not limited to these, as well as locations with restricted access (ie islands, heavy metro areas, hotels), rural areas and neighborhoods, or locations which a carrier may deem remote or difficult to get to. Coast-to-coast shipping may not be covered under our free shipping policy, as we strive to obtain the fastest route to prevent item breakage and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
If you feel you are in such a location, please feel free to contact us to make sure. We will still provide a credit for shipping in these instances. If you place an order and we find that you are in such an area, we will immediately contact you with all available options.
In the event free shipping is not available for a certain item, this will be clearly listed on the product page.

I recently sold one to a hunter, and as we got chatting about what type of components he would need, it came up that getting the ebike was his wife’s idea. She told him that since he was getting on in years and his knees were not as reliable as they once were, his wife would feel a lot better knowing he had the bike to help him get in and out.
It was the first time I really considered the emotional aspect of not only the hunter and the benefits they bring to the hunt but also to the peace of mind for the hunter’s family.

Knowing the rider can still ride without pedaling (in case of injury, for example) by just engaging the throttle is comforting or even getting out of a precarious situation in a matter of seconds. The benefits stretch further than riding uphill with ease.
Anyway, I wanted to present to you what I feel are the best 11 ebikes for hunting. The list truth be told could have been 27, but who has time to read through all those?!
Before getting into the list of bikes I selected I thought it would be helpful to explain a few fundamentals and what makes a good hunting bike including the motor types and how to calculate the range of the battery, as it’s the battery that determines range.

Electric Hunting Bike Buying Guide
So what is an electric hunting bike?
Contrary to popular belief it’s not just a standard ebike with a camo paint job, There’s a lot more to it than that. The excellent electric hunting bikes that we’ll look at later in the write-up start with the motor, a motor that is powerful enough to carry a 300lb rider and still tow a trailer with lots of gear.
The bike is then designed and built around that motor. The bike frame needs to be built to withstand the rough terrain but light enough to lift out of your truck or trailer.
Front suspension is an essential aspect of a smooth ride. Nobody wants to clamp their finely tuned bow to their handlebars only to ride 10 miles rocking and vibrating all the way in. Ebikes built for hunting also have fat tires ranging between 4” and 4.8” so they get a lot of traction on soft and loose terrain.
One on the list ( The Mule ) actually has a walk-assist mode too. Imagine you are pulling a load on the bike trailer and you come to terrain or hill that you’re not confident navigating on the saddle. You can walk beside the bike with the walk-assist engaged at 3 mph and the ebike motor does the heavy lifting.
As I explain which 11 ebikes make the list and why, take note of the different types of motors. The motor is the most important aspect of the hunting ebike and depending on what you use it for and where you plan to use it, should be the biggest factor when choosing your next electric hunting bike.
Which motor is best?
It depends on what you’re planning on using it for. If you’re using it on moderate to rough terrain with some hill climbing a regular mid-drive would be best suited. If you know you will have some challenging hills and/or rough terrain that you need to be in complete control of the power the Ultra mid-drive is the one that will get the job done. If you have moderate terrain with some hills but nothing too steep (not over 20°) a rear hub motor will do a good job and you won’t even need the higher priced mid-drive or Ultra mid-drive.
Rear Hub Motor
The rear hub sits inside the back wheel. The hub motor is simple and quite inexpensive to manufacture and so usually used on ebikes that don’t need the hill climbing capabilities of the mid drive which means a less expensive ebike.
Hub motors tend to be more about raw power and brute force, it pushes from the back and can feel similar to the force of a motorcycle. One nice feature is since the rear hub spins the wheel, if the chain was to snap you could still get back to camp or back home.
The mid drive motor works with the drivetrain so a snapped chain would prevent the bike from operating. Not so much an issue now with the bikes on this list as they all use harden steel chain links built to withstand the extra pressure put on the chain by the motor, but still something to consider.
Mid Drive Motor
Mid drive motors sit encased in the frame between the pedals and offer a more balanced, even force which feels more natural. Mid drive motors are known for higher performance and torque when compared to a traditional hub motor allowing it to perform better on hills.
One key reason is the mid drive motor drives the crank, instead of the wheel itself, multiplying its power and allowing it to better take advantage of the bike’s existing gears. Mid drive motors are more expensive than hub motors so ebikes with this motor are a higher price point.
Ultra Mid Drive Motor
Ultra mid drive motors are the best motors on the market today. The Ultra mid drive motor is made by Bafang (G620) and has all the performance capabilities of the regular mid drive and more.
A regular mid drive has both cadence and speed sensors, while the Ultra has a torque sensor too.
A torque sensor is the best control you can have over the power. The harder you pedal the more assistance you get proportionally. There are also sensors that will reduce power when the system senses that the rider is going to shift gears to make the shift smoother.
All Wheel Drive
Another option is growing rapidly in popularity and it feels like the best of both worlds. And it’s the hub motor that was reviewed already (rear hub) but imagine the rear hub on the rear wheel and a front hub on the front wheel. It’s basically 2 motors working together to give you double the pulling power. And you can switch between rear and front or use both when climbing. On rocky and uneven terrain where both wheels are not always touching down to get traction it can take a little getting used to but once you do it’s a very fun ride.
A good example of an All Wheel Drive ebike is the Megatron X2WD Electric Hunting Bike by Rambo Bikes which makes the list below.
What About Range
Well the range is determined by the battery. As long as you get a battery from a well known manufacturer like Samsung, LG or Panasonic the general rules apply. Get a lesser known, lower quality, the lifespan and individual charges are not so great.
How to Calculated eBike Battery Range?
The way to calculate the range of an ebike battery is by checking the 2 key values, volts and Amp Hours (Ah). When you multiply the number of volts by the number of Ah you get a new value, this value is known as Watt Hours.
On average in real world terms an ebike will use around 20 watt hours per mile, so that is how we can figure it out. Here’s an example: 48 Volts x 10 Ah = 480 Wh. 480 divided by 20 = 24 miles.
And that’s 24 miles with only throttle, no pedaling. If you use the pedal assist function the range can as much as double. There are factors that will vary this somewhat. Rider weight, wind conditions, terrain, uphill. Even really cold weather could cause you to lose 15% more battery juice compared to a nice Summers day. But with the calculation I just demonstrated, you can read any listing and know the true range you get.
Do eBikes Have Regenerative Braking?
Regenerative braking is definitely possible, it’s really not efficient nor practical and there are a number of reasons why.
Regenerative brakes require a Direct Drive Motor, which are a different type of motor than you see in typical electric bikes. These motors are very heavy in comparison to the other types of motors out there. Since electric bikes tend to be heavier than their traditional counterparts, this makes a difference in the distance you will be able to go on a full charge.
In addition, Direct Drive Motors don’t offer a freewheeling mechanism that will insulate the rider from the motor. That’s fine as long as your battery has juice. Once your battery runs out of charge it means that as you pedal, not only you need to move yourself and the bike, but you also need to push against the resistance of the motor.
Over the course of a single charge, you get back about 5% of the of the overall charge of the battery. So let’s say that you normally get 30 miles per charge on a ride, 5% of that is 1.5 miles! You have to question, is it really worth the additional weight and the resistance of pedaling a Direct Drive Motor to gain just a mile and a half?
The next problem with regenerative braking is that it causes significant heat when charging. When you are actually cruising downhill and pushing current back into the battery there is a lot of heat generated within the battery itself. Heat is not good for lithium batteries, it breaks down the overall life-cycle of the battery and it’s generally not good for it.
Finally, there are a lot of forces produced by Direct Drive Motors. Most electric bike frames are made out of aluminum which can fatigue over time, especially at the places that the axle engages the frame.
Regenerative braking, even though it sounds great on paper and you think you could ride forever with it, the reality is it’s just not that practical.
What are the hunters saying?
Many hunters are already on board with it and have embraced the latest technology to help them get an advantage.
Jim Shockey from JimShockey.com said this about electric hunting bikes: It’s the ultimate hunting machine. I can go further into the backcountry to hunt big game.
Carly Brasseux from MissPursuit.com had this to say: “Electric bikes have changed the game. In the past, using a bike to get into wild places was more effort than it the bike down the hill, walk the bike up the hill. For me, it’s a matter of expending less effort getting to my hunting area, and as a result, having that energy to put into the hunt once I get there. Electric bikes make this possible. They’re quiet, quick and make the sport more exciting!”
And Torey Glenny from QuestHavenLodge.com had this to say: not only can you get places where nobody can get, you won’t be up when you get there. It’s a game changer
While Pat Lefemine, founder of Bowsite.com had this to say:. coolest thing I have ever reviewed
Anyway, Let’s get into it…

Most Popular Electric Hunting Bikes
The Mule Elite Electric Hunting Bike by Bakcou
Best Selling Electric Hunting Bike
The Mule is available in either the 750 watt or 1000 watt and carries that phenomenal Ultra mid drive Bafang motor so the performance on steep hills and rough terrain makes this a best in class.
Priced a few hundred bucks less than the other 1000 watt on this list yet it carries the Ultra motor. Built by hunters for hunters, the Mule comes as standard with front light, fenders, rear rack and Teflon liners to help prevent punctures.
The 750 watt model has a top speed of 20mph while the 1000 watt model reaches 35mph without pedaling. Stand over height of 30 inches so ranging from 5’9” to 6’4” this frame size is perfect.
Shorter riders can check out the Step Through model which is identical, except with the crossbar lowered by 3 inches to make it easier to get on and off.
The battery is a 48V, 14.5Ah extended distance built with Panasonic cells. This particular battery releases energy more efficiently than most batteries so can reach 40 miles on a single charge.
The Mule also has a cool walk-assist mode so if you need to get off and walk but don’t want to carry the gear you can engage the motor at 2.5mph and the bike will cruise along with you and do the heavy lifting for you.
What we love the most
- The 750 Watt motor is actually a 1000 Watt motor set to 750 so it can be dialed up again in just a few seconds directly from the display.
- The Mule comes fully accessorized
- Walk- assist mode is an awesome hidden feature
- Has both Eco Sport modes
BADASS BIKE
This bike lives up to the hype. I am so impressed with the torque and the get up and go that it has. I would definitely recommend upgrading to the largest battery possible because that big Bafang motor really likes to eat up the power. I haven’t pulled anything on the folding Deer cart yet because mine is still on back order but anxious to try that. I’m sure it will do just fine. I will probably end up buying a second battery during the off-season just because it doesn’t hold up too long when not using pedal assist. All in all I really enjoy riding the bike. I certainly would recommend this bike to anybody looking for a hunting style E bike. I have absolutely zero regrets with my purchase of this bike Aaron B

Megatron X2wd Electric Hunting Bike By Rambo Bikes
Best All Wheel Drive Electric Hunting Bike
Why is the Rambo Megatron All Wheel Drive eBike on the list? What’s better than one motor? Two motors! What’s better than one battery? Two batteries! The Rambo Megatron X2WD 1000 watt fat tire ebike is raw power and lots of it.
Packed out with dual batteries for extra range and 2 hub motors, one front and one rear for unparalleled traction. And you can switch between the motors so you can choose to cruise with the rear only or get 170Nm or traction by using both at the same time.
A nice benefit of having hub motors is the weakness of a mid drive motor. If the bike chain snaps under tension the mid drive bike is disabled but since the hub motors rotate the wheels without the need for a chain, you can still operate the bike and get safely back to camp by using the throttle.
What we love the most
- Dual 1000 Motors gives awesome traction
- Dual batteries for plenty of range. up to 80 miles in ideal conditions
- And quite frankly, it’s badass!

Quietkat Ranger Electric Hunting Bike
Best Rear Hub Electric Hunting Bike
The Ranger is the only rear hub motor that made the list. I wanted to include one rear hub as not everyone is looking for the best hill climbing bike out there. If you want an that is built tough, reliable and has a reliable Bafang rear hub motor, the Ranger is the best for you. It performs well on moderate terrain with some hills but performs better on lower gradient inclines.

- Rugged and feels very stable to ride
- Lots of power on flats or moderate hills
WELL-BUILT BIKE, VERY GOOD

Electric Hunting Bike Benefits
Whichever electric hunting bike you choose, take a look at some of the benefits:
- Go Farther – Electric hunting bikes help you go farther in a fraction of the time it would take to walk in
- No Scent Trail. With an electric hunting bike you can move around without leaving a scent trail and gain a very important advantage when you need it most.
- Move Stealthily – Electric hunting bikes are surprisingly quiet so you don’t spook the game.
- Carry Extra Gear. They are built to carry 300lbs and if that’s not enough the trailers can carry an additional 100lbs so you can make it one trip in and out instead of a tiring back and forth lugging heavy gear on your back. Plus the bunch of other accessories available like rear racks and waterproof saddle bags for extra storage on the bike and not on your back.
- Stay Out Longer. With the possibility to carry more gear and can stay out longer than before.
- Age is Not a Factor. Electric hunting bikes make it easier for anyone to reach distant spots without the fatigue of hiking with gear so no matter your age or physical stature those once forgotten golden spots are attainable again.
- Limited Mobility Not an Obstacle. Hunters with limited mobility, whether it’s an old injury that didn’t heal properly or a life changing injury, for hunting can make a world of difference and get you back out hunting again.
- Reach Remote Unspoiled Spots. You can go than the weekend warrior is willing to walk. Leave them behind and take your hunting to that remote location.
- Check Trail Cameras Quickly. Electric hunting bikes can go between 20 and 28 mph depending on the model. You can check your perimeter and trail cameras and be back before you miss anything.
- Stay Safe – These hunting are fast so you can get out of a potentially dangerous situation in seconds
- Environmentally Friendly. Hunting is also about preservation. are extremely friendly to the environment.
For me personally, if money is not an obstacle I’m going with the Bakcou Storm. It has everything the Mule has but with full suspension and larger battery. If you buy the Storm you will never need to upgrade because it’s the alpha male in it’s category. 160Nm of torque, that’s awesome pulling power when it’s needed to pull a deer out on a trailer.
I’d love to know what you all think, and if you have another model you would put on this list. I could have had a dozen more bikes of the same caliber get a mention but this is a good start.
If you have any questions about any of these you can drop an email to John@eBikeGeneration.com. I’d be happy to help you find the best electric hunting bike for your needs.

One Word. UBCO – I’ve tried many different “hunting” bikes and I just got one that I guarantee you will outperform all those listed above. Try to take a test ride on the UBCO 2×2. It’s pricey but man is it AWESOME! I’ve taken it on deep sand, deep mud, very rocky terrain and on the road. The only area I found it to be a little sluggish is if you are climbing a very steep hill and have 300lbs of load on it. Then it moves a little slower up steep hills, but what bike wouldn’t? 🙂 NOTE: It does NOT have pedals though. It’s more like a moped mixed with a bike. Not sure what you’d call it. but having all-wheel drive helps in the sand and mud. There were a few times where I thought I was stuck for sure but the front tire would grip and help me get through. The top speed is only 30 mph but that’s plenty for a hunting bike. It says the max range is 75 miles and in three non-stop test rides I’ve gone 70, 60 and 50 but they were with different amounts of gear on me and different terrains. Still very awesome for what it is and does. Just wanted to share for once you try one, trust me you will be hooked.

Looking into buying a Grizzly scooter. I have a QuietKat but the bar is too high and tough to balance at 70 YO. As a Disabled Combat Veteran I need to be at a lower price even with the military discount Bakcou offers at 15%. Thanks can you help? I did hear that the scooters can tow a trailer.

I started researching the hunter e-bikes (I’m a nature photographer) in October because my gear and large tripod are like what a lot of hunters haul. This is a very helpful article. As I think about some of the terrain and ground cover I’d be traversing it seems a chain and derailleur are points of vulnerability. Is there any thought or work being done to utilize a mid motor with a shaft drive system? It would present a cleaner, less-cluttered design that was better protected from damaging stubs, branches, wire, rocky cracks or potholes, etc. Last, I saw an ad for the QuietCat Apex that looks interesting. Is it enough like the Ridge runner and Warrior that those reviews would be applicable? Thanks.
I am 54 years old I have arthritis and a degenerative disc in my back. It is incredibly painful for me to be on my feet or my butt for more than 3 hours. I haven’t been hunting and probably six years as a result, I also suffer from depression. I could see myself hunting again with one of these most of them that look worthwhile are far too expensive for me

Is there any restrictions between 750W and 1000W for riding on BLM land or National Forest trails.
Ken Russell
I currently have an older bike with a BionX rear hub motor. I selected one with regenerative capability not for the extended range but primarily for resistance braking on long, rough down grades. A lot of my logging road rides involve 4 or 5 mile down grades on the way back to the truck and the regen option helps me avoid overheating the brakes. I will definitely be considering those down grades as I look to update my bike.

I have the 1000 watt e cell bike and yes it is a big bike, but it is very strong and powerful this bike is like a tank with all wheel drive and 9 levels of assistance two batteries, two motors 203 cm disk up front and 180 rear their is no compromising with this bike. I ride around town, throw the forest on trails and on the beach, it takes on all challenges without blinking, but their is one issue and that is no front rack mounts unless you buy the 1500 watt bike, I got on them about that because it’s not cool. I am very happy with the bike just got my new bike rack to role the bike up to haul it that is very important because like I said it’s heavy just like a dirt bike but with batteries.

If/When you need service (damaged chain, bent wheel, etc.) should a local bike store be able to work on it or would you need to return to manufacturer? (I admit not mechanically inclined!)
John Murphy
Hi Rob, A second battery could set you back anything between 500 to 900 depending on the size. The bigger the battery the more range you get. The Bakcou Mule standard battery is a 14.5Ah which is already a good size will cost (at the time of replying) 599 and is good for 30 miles on throttle power. You could upgrade from the get go to a larger battery and just use one that has 40 to 60 miles per charge.

I’m just starting to learn about e hunting bikes. I live in Maine, turning 70 so need some assist getting to hunting locations. My biggest issue with buying on line is obtaining service on these bikes. Are available is service locations in the North East ?

I’ve been riding ebikes since they first came on the market, specifically looking for the best hunting ebike… something that could further my range and also help me explore quietly. I fell hard for QuietKat’s offering (even bought my brother one) and so far haven’t been dissapointed. Jim Shockey mentioned here in this post is an ambassador for QuietKat and I have to say this brand was the first to market, has been operating in this category the longest, and provides excellent customer support. While the bikes here mentioned are good options (my buddy Teddy has the Fat Tire Ridge Runner and it IS a beast!) I personally like the Apex because its got the same power as some of the other bikes on this list (also a 1000w mid-drive) but you can better manage your speed than with the ULTRA motor, which is great for tight trails and thicker woods. For me the Apex perfect and I’d recommend it to anyone! ~ Cheers from South Bend

well guess I’ll be selling my 4 wheeler.Bike is absolutely quitter and get though the trees here in Wisconsin a lot better.
What about dual hub motors, dual battery fat tire hunting bikes.not even mentioned. Most have a switch for motor and battery selection. I’ve seen models with up to two 2500W motors
Can any of the bikes go through water? I never see anything like a biker going through a creeks. As a hunter ( lol) who is on my last year of hunting. Because well, let’s just say I Hope I can maybe get a bike. But I have to cross a small creek.
I’ve been wanting to get an electric hunting bike for a while but I’m curious about charging the batteries while out hunting. How long would I need to run a generator for to top off a battery? Would a solar panel even get the job done? Seems like extra batteries might make the most sense. How long would one of these batteries take to charge from empty?

HI Berry, The Mule 1000 Storm 1000 both come in 17 and 19 frame size options so you should be able to find the right sixe for you both. The 17 frame is best suited for heights ranging from 5’2 to 5’8 and the 19 frame for 5’8 and above. BackCountry eBikes are the makers or both models you like and they are hunters based out in Ogden Utah and they don’t make average bikes, they FOCUS on elite hunting bikes that will get the job done. They are designed to take a beating a perform well doing so. Both models have that coveted ULTRA mid drive motor so climbing hills and tackling rough terrain offroad will be a joy to experience.
They only use top grade components that can stand the test of rough offroad as that is what they are built to do. I have sent you additional info by email also, so you can make an educated decision on what suits you and your wife the best.

I really like the mule 1000 watt and the the storm 1000 watt, do you know what the stand over heights are? Im going to purchase 2, 1 for my wife and 1 for me. Are the components up upgradeable or are they good enough quality for rugged outdoor punishment.
What to expect from a 1000 watt electric bike
Chances are, you’ve come across this article after doing quite a bit of research. So, you might already know that there are many practical reasons why the lion’s share of purpose-built electric mountain bikes have a high-powered lithium battery checking in at somewhere between 750 and 1500 watts.
But while watts gives you a good indication of what to expect from your fat tire e-bike, there are a few other terms to keep an eye on to help you understand what bike is right for you.
Disclaimer: while there certainly is a relationship between the numbers below and how powerful, fast, and responsive an electric mountain bike will feel, the particular configuration of an e-bike will affect all of the above. In short: not all bikes are created equally—even those identical watt, volt, and amp ratings. For an excellent crash-course in how e-bike motors work, read through E-Bike Motors, Explained on Bicycling.com.
Watts: Pay attention to this rating to understand how much energy the motor can consume continuously. Oftentimes, the first rating you’ll see for an e-bike is indicative of the continuous watt rating which differs—and is less than—the peak rating.
Amp: Think of e-bike amps as kind of like the horsepower of your car—it tells you what your bike’s max output is. The higher the amps, the more powerful your bike will be when you jump off the proverbial starting line.
Amp Hours: Let’s keep using the convenient comparison of your e-bike to your car. If amps are like horsepower, amp hours is like your fuel tank. The higher the amp hours, the more life your battery will have left after you rip uphill as hard as you can for an hour.
Volts: Just like in any other electric system, vots indicate how much pressure can be contained within the battery. Batteries created specifically to serve electric mountain bikes typically have volts in sequences of 12, going up incrementally to 48. When it comes down to it, volts basically equate to power, indicating how powerful a battery can be and giving you a fairly good idea of the projected top speed.
So, let’s put it all together, using the impressively powerful, designed-to-go-anywhere QuietKat 2020 RidgeRunner E-Bike. Here are the quick stats:
Watts: Choose between 750w and 1000w (for the purposes of this article, we’ll choose the Bafang Ultra Mid-Drive Motor).
Amp: The max amp output for the RidgeRunner is 133.33a.
Amp Hours: The RidgeRunner comes standard with 16ah.
Volts: The RidgeRunner comes standard with 48v.
Now, here’s what that practically means when you take a purpose-built electric mountain bike out into the toughest terrain.
How Far Will a 1000 Watt E-Bike Take You?
Of course, predicting how many miles your e-bike will carry you is dependent on the type of terrain, the steepness of your climbs, how heavy you are on the throttle (or strong you are on the pedals), and several other factors. The folks at E-bike Portal put a modern lithium battery to the test, and though the one they used in the test is not quite as sophisticated as the one you’ll find in the RidgeRunner, it’s still valuable read to understand what factors can really affect the performance of a battery.
When it comes to our aforementioned RidgeRunner, though, if you’re traveling on a relatively flat or moderately hilly trail going at a leisurely pace, expect to get up to a whopping 64 miles round trip. As you become a more experienced rider, you’ll become more attune to how to conserve battery as you ride to really maximize your travel.
How Fast Will it Go?
The 1000w Bafang Ultra Mid-Drive Motor was deliberately chosen because it’s a beautiful feat of engineering. When 1600w of peak power meets 160nm of torque, amazing things happen. Traveling over flat terrain, an average sized rider can easily hit 30mph using the thumb throttle. Top speed on a pedal-assist version of the same bike will be slightly less.
Will it Tow Weight?
When we set out to design the RidgeRunner, we knew we wanted to make the most powerful and capable bike that we could possibly dream up. In short, we’re proud to say we succeeded. Not only that, we crafted it specifically for rugged off-roaders and deep-woods hunters to use in their most ambitious pursuits. With 120 millimeters of rear suspension travel and 150 millimeters of travel up front, when paired with the 4.8-inch fat tire, the very edge of the map starts to feel like home.
Together the electric motor and rugged frame are designed to be loaded down with our full suite of accessories from the rugged two-wheel cargo cart to a stuffed-full pair of pannier bags. With the right mindset and enough grit, you can pack out an elk and be home in time for dinner.
