9 Fastest Electric Scooters of 2023 (Up to 80 MPH / 130 KMH). Rion re90 electric scooter

The Rion RE90

Have you seen those Bird scooters that people like to rent and ride around town? Those top out at around 19 mph, while many other fast scooters can get up to 40 mph. However, the Rion RE90 tops out at over 100 mph, but sadly, it’s governed to only get up to 80 mph. That’s insanely fast considering that you’re on a scooter with nothing between you and anything else that could possibly run into when riding this thing. If you need a better frame of reference, here is a video where a YouTuber races it against a Bird scooter:

Not for the faint of heart, especially when it comes to the price

As you can imagine, the Rion RE90 is an intense performer and should most likely only be ridden with proper protective gear. Getting up to 80 mph, or even 50 mph, on a scooter is no joke and one wrong move could even prove fatal. And if those speed figures don’t get your heart pounding, then the price of the RE90 might. It costs 6,800, and that’s without the 300 for shipping.

If it’s any consolation, each RE90 is handmade and takes around 90 days to build and ship to you. If that’s not a true testament to quality properly matched up with outright performance, then we don’t know what is. A Bugatti, perhaps?

Hear Me Out: You Should Buy An Electric Scooter by Gabrielle DeSantis on May 27, 2020

That may seem like a crazy idea at first, but big-town scooter owners have a lot of positive things to say about driving a scooter, and Consumer Reports has even tested out four popular scooters to let us know which ones are worth buying. Hear me out, because there might be something to owning an electric scooter here.

Who should buy an electric scooter, and why?

So owning an electric scooter isn’t practical if you live in the country and have to make a long-distance commute to work, but I can be really beneficial to anyone who lives in large cities, for a number of reasons.

For one, scooters are a lot easy to find parking and storage for. Because of their size, scooters can be parked, carried, or stored anywhere. No need for finding a parking spot for a large SUV or full-size sedan.

A man rides a electric scooter on Cardiff Bay barrage on the hottest day of the year on May 20, 2020, in Cardiff, Wales | Matthew Horwood/Getty Images

Electric scooters are convenient for navigating heavy traffic and, depending on the city, can be driven on widened sidewalks or bike lanes. It can get you out of that soul-sucking bumper-to-bumper traffic of larger cities and get you on your way to where you need to go.

They don’t offer any storage, but chances are if you’re traveling for a daily commute and live in a major city you don’t need to pack heavy, and besides getting groceries you might not need to take anything you couldn’t fit in a backpack.

Safety and street laws

The scooters that were tested by Consumer Reports didn’t have seats and we’re considered legitimate motor vehicles. This means that the NHTSA hasn’t come out with a lot of laws regarding their operations yet on a national level, but it’s important to see if your individual state or major city has any laws regarding their use and parking on major roadways.

Scooters are a tad easier to steal than a car, so it’s important to lock them to a bicycle rack or park them someplace safe when you’re not using them. Some of them are even small enough and can fold up to be carried with you or stored in the smallest of apartments.

In addition to legal regulations, it’s also safe to wear a helmet, long pants, and a jacket in case you fall or crash into something, just like if you were riding a motorcycle. Electric scooters don’t go very fast, but it can be relatively unpleasant to fall off of one and get road or sidewalk rash.

Being on a scooter requires your full attention, and it’s important to pay just as much attention to what’s going on around you as if you were driving a full-sized car.

Electric scooters can be a great problem solving for people that live in big cities, but don’t want the big-city hassle of car ownership. They are incredibly affordable and require a lot less maintenance costs, and can make your daily commute a little bit better.

Fastest Electric Scooters of 2023 (Up to 80 MPH / 130 KMH)

In the year 2018 alone, more than 5 million electric scooters were sold. The cumulative population of electric scooters is expected to cross 500 million by the end of the year 2025. The market for electric scooters is growing at a fairly Rapid speed. But they aren’t without their problems.

The basic problem that owners of electric scooters report is that they are too slow. The main reason behind this is the fact that in order to make electric scooters street legal, companies limit their speed. But what about those people who want electric scooters for private use?

We have a great piece of news for such enthusiasts. Electric scooter manufacturers are developing models that will not only provide the general benefits of an electric scooter but will be extremely fast as well. This article brings you the latest list of the 9 fastest electric scooters for adults.

So, let’s dive right into it!

Fastest Electric Scooter 60 MPH

Nami Burn-E 2 MAX – 60 mph

If you’re looking to enjoy an extremely powerful electric scooter, look no further than Nami Burn-E 2 Max. It has a top speed of 60 mph and offers the best ride quality possible on an electric scooter. Burn-E 2 max is laced with fully adjustable hydraulic shocks on the rear and the front. Thanks to this, it offers super smooth handling and a jerk-free ride.

The combination of hydraulic shocks and 11” tires is quite remarkable. You would be surprised to see the comfort of a scooter ride at over 50 mph. In addition to that, Nami Burn-E 2 Max offers 5 different customizable riding modes. You can adjust the torque of the rear and front motors while also limiting the acceleration and electric braking power of the scooter.

If the rider weight is limited to 150 pounds and you are cruising at a constant speed of 10 mph, Nami Burn-E 2 Max has an optimal range of over 115 miles (185 km). This high-performance electric scooter comes with a 72 V 32 Ah battery pack.

Kaboo Wolf King GT Pro – 65 mph

There was a time when Kaboo Wolf GT was the fastest electric scooter you could buy. But as time went on, the competitors of Kaboo produced faster electric scooters. With the new Wolf King GT Pro model, Kaboo has tried to reclaim the position of the fastest electric scooter in the world.

Though the company claims that this particular model can achieve a top speed of 60 mph, independent testing has revealed that the actual top speed is a bit higher. It can go up to 65 mph quite easily. All thanks to the powerful dual motors producing a power output of 4,000 watts.

The range of Kaboo Wolf King GT Pro is 110 miles (or 180 km), courtesy of the long-range battery pack and Smart battery controllers. The powerful GT Pro can easily tackle an upward slope of up to 50 degrees. This shows that GT Pro is also an able off-road electric scooter.

Dualtron X2 Up – 69 mph

Dualtron needs no introduction in the world of electric scooters. Many of its models are capable of breaching the 60 mph mark quite easily. But X2 Up is something special. This model is capable of achieving a top speed of up to 69 mph.

The top speed is one thing. Even the range of X2 Up is extraordinary. On a single charge, it can go as far as 100 miles (or 160 km). Just like other members on this list, X2 Up is powered by dual motors capable of producing 4,150 watts each, taking the peak power up to 8,300 watts. These motors draw power from a huge battery pack of 72 V 42 Ah.

The appearance of Dualtron X2 Up is very sporty. The most prominent feature on the exterior is the big shocks. This model is supported by hydraulic suspension on the front and back, due to which X2 Up is a capable off-road electric scooter. It can tackle muddy and uneven tracks of forests while comfortably riding up the mountains. X2 Up is a true beast of electric scooters.

Fastest Electric Scooter 70 MPH

Bronco Extreme Sports 11 Electric Scooter – 70 mph

If you’re looking to buy a Hyper-fast electric scooter, Bronco Extreme Sports 11 won’t disappoint you. Although Bronco is a fairly new entrant in the market of performance scooters, it has made one of the fastest electric scooters in the shape of Extreme Sports 11.

Bronco Extreme Sports 11 is capable of achieving a top speed of up to 70 mph. It has a 0 to 50 mph time of 7.3 seconds only. The frame of this electric scooter has been meticulously crafted using aviation-grade T-6 aluminum. That’s why it is lightweight and ultra-fast.

Extreme Sports 11 is laced with dual motors capable of producing a healthy 8,400 watts of peak power. The motors of Extreme Sports 11 are powered by a 72 V 35 Ah battery pack. High-performance tires with ultra-wide profiles ensure that nothing keeps you from speeding.

One thing we love about Bronco scooters is that they have a wide-standing deck for the rider. Even with the Extreme Sport 11 model, the deck width is 12.2 inches. This is sufficient to accommodate people with the widest of feet. For a normal person, a wider deck means ease in standing while riding the scooter, and the ease factor becomes really important while riding a fast scooter.

Hunter Quad 2 x 2 – 70 mph

Hunter Quad 2 x 2 is a capable off-road electric scooter that can achieve a top speed of 70 mph. The name quad very well aligns with the powertrain and chassis design of this scooter. Hunter Quad has four motors, four controllers, four suspensions, and four brake sets.

The quad motors of Hunter can produce a total of 14,000 watts. The motors draw power from either 72V 50Ah or 72V 75Ah lithium-ion battery pack. The thing that I love the most about this scooter is that even though it is a performance-oriented electric scooter, it still has a phenomenal range of up to 120 miles between charges.

Yes, you can go up to 120 miles on a single charge while riding on Hunter Quad 2 x 2, provided that you keep your speed between 25 and 35 mph. The electric scooter is equipped with 13-inch tubeless 165mm ultra-wide tires. These tires give you the necessary stability and control while traversing through narrow and twisted terrains.

Some other key features of Hunter Quad 2 x 2 include a rear step plate, key fob, and steering dampener. While there is so much to love about this scooter, there is also the drawback of heavy curb weight. The scooter weighs 156 lbs which is quite heavy if you ask me. Other than that, it is a worthy option in the category of fast electric scooters.

Weped SST Electric Scooter– 77.2 mph

If you thought you were a Pro scooter rider, then let’s see if you can handle the insane speed of the Weped SST electric scooter. At a top speed of 77.2 mph, Weped SST will feel like flying off the handle. Therefore it is recommended for the use of professional racers and scooter riders only.

Weped SST features a heavy-duty exterior. One can tell from the looks that this is a racing scooter. The Weped SST electric scooter is laced with two brushless DC hub motors. Each can achieve a peak power output of 16,500W (16kW). This takes the total output of the scooter up to 33,000W. It is enough power to push Weped SST past 80 mph in less than 12 seconds.

The insanely powerful Weped SST can conquer a 35-degree slope. The motors draw juice from a 72V 45Ah lithium-ion battery pack that takes 7.5 hours to charge on a fast charger. Even though performance scooters are not meant to have long-range still, Weped SST can go up to 60 miles while in Eco mode. However, the range is dropped to 21 miles if you’re flying at top speed.

Mostly the scooter is made out of 6082-T6 aviation-grade aluminum alloy. The choice of material imparts the necessary agility and strength to the structure of the Weped SST electric scooter. Your rides can’t get any smoother than with the patented dual DamPing 4-Link suspension of Weped.

Fastest Electric Scooter 80 MPH

FS Hyper-Scooter – 78.2 mph

Next up on our list is the FS Hyper-scooter, which is capable of going up to 78.2 mph. However, the company is claiming that the FS Hyper-scooter can achieve a top speed of 90 mph, but that is yet to be tested, so we would refrain from speculation.

Even if it could breach the 90 mph mark, it won’t beat the Rion RE 90 to capture the top spot. 78.2 mph or 90 mph, the FS Hyper-scooter is capable enough to land on the 2 nd spot in our list. To make it street-legal in certain countries, FS has decided to limit the speed to 20 mph or so.

Again, this super-fast electric scooter is powered by dual brushless motors. Each of these is capable of generating 15,000 watts of peak power, taking the total power output to 30,000 watts. Just to remind you about the insane power output of RE 90, 30 kW isn’t even half of 100 kW.

Nevertheless, the FS Hyper-scooter can also satisfy your need for speed very well. The immensely powerful motors draw juice from a 72 V 50 Ah battery pack. On a fast charging station, it would take 7.5 hours to fully recharge the batteries of FS. This whole package weighs about 124 pounds.

Fastest Electric Scooter 90 MPH

Numo Slack Core 920R– 90 mph

Is every bit as powerful as Rion RE 90. It seems like a normal scooter until you ride it. The high-torque motor of 920R is supported by a 72V 45 Ah battery pack. It can easily achieve a top speed of 90 mph.

fastest, electric, scooters, 2023

From another perspective, 920R might be the fastest electric scooter for adults as Rion RE 90 doesn’t allow users to go past the speed limit of 80 mph. There is plenty of data to support that the Rion RE 90 can easily cross 100 mph. On the other hand, limited data is available on the power characteristics of Numo Slack Core 920R. Therefore we cannot determine if it can beat Rion RE 90 in a one-on-one race. But we’re sure about one thing. This race would be a hell of a treat to watch!

The design of the 920R electric scooter has been kept pretty simple on the outside, but if you go into detail, you will find out why it is so fast. Let’s take the choice of materials, for instance. The handlebar, pole, and ladder frame are made from titanium. Whereas the front fork and swingarm are made from forged aluminum, the handle stem and front/rear block are made from liquid forging aluminum. These materials keep Numo Slack Core 920R as light and swift as possible.

The front parallel sustained suspension system and rear 165 mm hydraulic suspension system of 920R is there to provide you stability, cornering ability, and improved steering. The motors of an electric scooter this fast are sure to heat up. To avoid this scenario, a cooling system has been designed. Heat sinks for the rear and front controllers ensure that no heat is left inside the system. Numo Slack Core 920R is nothing short of an engineering marvel.

Fastest Electric Scooter 100 MPH

Rion RE 90 Hyper-Scooter – 100 mph

It won’t be wrong to say that the electric scooters of Rion are just like the cars of Bugatti, the fastest ones out there. RE 90 is the latest arrival in the series of Hyper-scooter by Rion.

During rigorous testing, Rion revealed that the RE 90 could even breach the 100 mph mark. However, to maintain drivability, Rion decided to limit the top speed to 80 mph. Rion has made it abundantly clear that they designed the RE 90 specifically for racing. You should not use it for your daily commute as it is too fast to handle.

Now, let’s talk about the specifications of Rion RE90. it weighs less than 60 pounds and utilizes dual brushless motors capable of producing a whopping 100,000 watts (100 kW) of maximum power. For such powerful motors, Rion has to supply the necessary electric current.

So, the batteries of RE 90 are also one of a kind. 96.6 V and 30 Ah battery of RE 90 packs 30 units of 21,700 high-capacity cells. To charge this large battery pack, RE 90 also features a fast charging capability. Using this feature, you can charge the battery pack of RE 90 from 0 to 100 in about four and a half hours. In short, RE 90 is a true engineering marvel.

Final Word, Fastest Electric Scooters for Adults

Electric scooters are a great way of commuting between short distances. Kids use them to go to school, and adults use these electric scooters for daily chores. People riding electric scooters out of the metros to reach their homes is a very common sight.

Let’s admit that electric scooters are fun to drive, but they can be slow as molasses. But don’t worry. There are some electric scooters that are convenient to use and extremely fast as well. Many of the fastest electric scooters for adults can even breach the 60 mph mark quite easily.

But don’t ride these scooters without wearing safety gear first because 60 mph is a serious speed for someone riding an e scooter. God forbid, if you fall at this speed, it can have severe consequences. So, always make safety your first priority while riding a fast electric scooter.

Do you own an e-scooter? How fast does it go? If given a chance, which one of the fastest electric scooters would you like to own in the near future? Do let us know in the comment section down below. We would love to hear back from you!

Rion re90 electric scooter

They might be illegal to ride in public spaces (depending on where you live), but who can really deny the raw power of the fastest electric scooters out right now?

Our investigation on the most powerful and fastest electric scooters is an interesting one, made for fans old and new.

You might end up finding your dream scooter. We’ve certainly seen a few we like just from digging; we’ve also managed to find some cheap electric scooters on our internet travels too.

Just remember to avoid public spaces or risk getting into a race with local law enforcement. The thought of someone trying to outrun police on an e-scooter belongs in games like GTA, not real life.

The Fastest Electric Scooter Out Right Now

Let’s start from the top-down; it’s what you’re here for, right?

The fastest electric scooter in the world is known by many as “the Bugatti of electric scooters.” Say hello to the Rion RE90 Racing Edition, a speedster if we’ve ever seen one.

How fast can the fastest electric scooter in the world go exactly? The Rion RE90 can travel over 100mph if it wanted to, but it’s governed to only 80mph for safety reasons; we’re pretty sure the phrase “speed kills” was invented because of the RE90.

So, what does it do differently to make it the fastest electric scooter there is?

The racing edition is powered by two brushless hub motors located in the front and rear wheels.

Each motor has around 400 amps pulsing through it, allowing this e-scooter to go from zero to blur in no time at all.

Its lightweight frame makes it a force to be reckoned with. It only weighs around 59 lbs (27kg) which allows it to travel a lot faster. You can thank the carbon construction for that. Aluminium is also used, but only for the front and rear arms.

In other words, this electric scooter wasn’t made to traverse your local concrete jungle. You’d be better off taking it to a race track. We can guarantee it would give McClaren a run for their money.

Speaking of money, the RE90 does not fall into the category of “cheap electric scooters” — it’s a lot more expensive than most. So how much is the world’s fastest electric scooter? start at 6,800 (£4,800).

Other Fast Electric Scooters You Need to Know About

New faster scooters arrive every month, it seems, which makes keeping up difficult. The electric scooters we’ll touch on here might be fast/powerful now but could be out-shined by future models.

For now, though, the Rion RE90 holds the crown and might hold on to it for a while yet.

We’ll keep you posted if that changes either way.

Let’s look at other contenders chasing the title of the fastest electric scooter before we move on.

Currus Panther

Top Speed: 47.53mph (76.5kmh)

Premium performance and acceleration that could put most e-bikes to shame — the Currus Panther truly purrs as one of the fastest e-scooters hovering near that 50 mph mark — which is almost as fast as an actual panther (look it up).

With front/rear-wheel hydraulic suspension, you can guarantee a controlled ride, even at high speed.

If used in perfect conditions, the Currus Panther can travel up to 75 miles on a single charge. The Currus Panther comes with two charging points, allowing you to charge it that much faster!

It’s the first electric scooter on our list and is easily one of the best in terms of top speed, leaving hundreds in the dust.

Keep your eyes open for this wildcat; it’s a fantastic e-scooter.

Apollo Phantom Ludicrous

Top Speed: 48.22mph (77.6kmh)

The Apollo Phantom Ludicrous is as sleek as it is quick. Like the Rien RE90, it’s deceptively fast, albeit slightly heavier at 77 lbs (35kg). It’s one of the most powerful electric scooters out right now, completely by design.

Apollo set out to make the complete package, and they more than delivered. It’s fast, folds easily, and comes with regenerative brakes. We can’t talk about the Apollo Phantom Ludicrous without mentioning the HEX display. It’s a next-gen display for an e-scooter with plenty going for it already.

The top speed of the Phantom is set at 48.22mph for the 60V version. A 52V version is available, only it isn’t as fast; it’s cheaper but slower.

Basically, it moves like a Phantom; fast and seamless, dare we say, weightless. Out the way Casper, there’s a new ghost in town.

Weped SS

Top Speed: 55mph (90kmh)

It might look like a rainbow with wheels, but don’t let that fool you. The Weped SS is a speed demon straight from the bowels of electric-powered hell.

Every Weped SS is crafted by hand and produced in low batches, which is why you don’t see more of them.

Speed-wise, Weped claim it can travel up to 55mph, which happens to be a lot faster than other e-scooters shown (looking at you, Apollo). Even its tires are made for kart racing, which tells you everything right there.

Did we mention that it only takes around 3-hours to charge too? You could say it’s one of the most powerful electric scooters available, but that would imply they’re in stock, and they usually aren’t.

It’s a white whale of an e-scooter that we hope to see more of in the future.

Kaabo Wolf King

Top Speed: 59.04mph (95.6kmh)

With a name like that, it’s no wonder the Kaboo Wolf King is considered one of the fastest electric scooters.

This powerful electric scooter will always raise comparisons with the Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11, which is quite similar in every department, outside of top speed. The Wolf King can hit 59 mph (95.6 km/h), whereas the Wolf Warrior 11 comes in at 45 mph (72.5km/h).

Visually, the Wolf King looks like it belongs in the JCB family, with its yellow paint job and large lights. It’s a bulky e-scooter, but it pushes well beyond what you might think it’s capable of.

Its power comes from its 3000w motor. In terms of price, you’d be looking at paying around 3,000 (£2,100) for this e-scooter, which isn’t bad given how durable it is.

Dualtron X II

Top Speed: 68mph (109kmh)

A glorified powerhouse disguised as an e-scooter form.

The Dualtron X II is a new and improved upgrade from a 2019 version made by Dualtron Minimotors. Where the original Dualtron X was 60V, the sequel increases that to 72V, making it a very powerful electric scooter indeed.

You could actually play a board game on the deck here, given its girth. The size of this e-scooter, like the Wolf King, makes it very durable. How it’s able to hit speeds of 68mph is anyone’s guess.

The only downside to this fast electric scooter is how long it takes to charge. Around 8 hours is needed to go from flat to street-ready.

Powerful Electric Scooters Investigated

The word ‘powerful’ has multiple interpretations; it could mean anything.

However, when ranking the most powerful electric scooters out there, we looked at the max range per charge to define power in this instance. Performance over select ranges (in miles) to be specific.

Speed and power could be interchangeable, but you aren’t going to travel over 40mph every time you mount your scooter, are you? If you consider speed and power interchangeable, then congrats, the Rion RE90 is your most powerful electric scooter.

Below we’ve picked out three rides. Three powerful electric scooters that each excel in their own window as far as range is concerned.

E4TP’s 25 Mile Electric Scooter Pick: Turboant X7 Pro

Type: Short Range Under/Over £500: Under

We’ve featured the Turboant X7 Pro on the site before, so it should come as no surprise that it’s getting another nod here.

This e-scooter can travel up to 30 miles with every charge, perfect for short distances.

It comes with cruise control and a pretty nifty LED display. Oh, and the battery is completely detachable, meaning you don’t have to heave this e-scooter into your front room to give it some juice.

Travelling short distances but want a powerful electric scooter to get you there? Check out the Turboant X7 Pro.

It’s very cheap compared to some of the other e-scooters shown, which will undoubtedly appeal to a lot of you reading this.

E4TP’s 40 Mile Electric Scooter Pick: Apollo Ghost

Type: Medium Range Under/Over £500: Over

The Apollo Ghost is the brother of the Apollo Phantom mentioned above.

A younger brother, given the level of power this e-scooter has in comparison. For example, this e-scooter can only travel up to 34mph. It’s still impressive, just not as fast as the other spooky scooter mentioned.

Its 52V 18.2 Ah battery is as reliable as it is dynamic, allowing the Ghost to float for 39 miles total. According to reviews, you can get 4 years out of the Ghose before needing to upgrade/replace the battery.

Canadian manufacturer Apollo makes frighteningly good scooters. The Phantom might be one of the fastest electric scooters, but the Ghost takes the cake as the best medium-range ride.

E4TP’s 75 Mile Electric Scooter Pick: Wolf Warrior 11 Pro

Type: Long Range Under/Over £500: Over

We know what you’re thinking. Another callback?

The Wolf Warrior 11 Pro has earned its spot; it’s a beast like the Wolf King.

Understand that with great power comes extra weight. So, yes, you’ll have more energy and travel farther distances, but charge times will lengthen.

The Wolf Warrior 11 Pro takes over 17 hours to charge fully. We’ll admit, this sounds long. But how long did you expect it to be? The Wolf Warrior can travel 75 miles on each charge; that power had to come from somewhere.

This wolf howls using a 60V 35Ah LG battery. A powerful electric scooter like this is well worth the money — if you can afford it.

What Can Affect the Range/Speed of Electric Scooters?

Many factors can limit how fast electric scooters can travel. For optimal speed/power, it’s recommended that you meet the weight requirements of each board.

You see, every electric skateboard has a max load. Exceeding that amount will drain the power out of each e-scooter faster, causing it to move slower. Heavier bikes tend to hold a lot more weight.

For example, the Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11 Pro can hold 150 kg (23 st), whereas the Turboant X7 Pro can only handle 100 kg (15 st). Electric scooters tend to be upfront about max load, so finding a powerful electric scooter that fits your build shouldn’t prove too difficult.

Bumpy terrain also has a negative effect on your electric scooters power.

Flat surfaces are a breeze, but off-road and over cobbles can really slow you down — not to mention damage your e-scooter.

When it comes to the fastest electric scooters, you always want to be aware of the surface underneath you. Any bump or crack in the road can throw you off course and maybe cause an injury or two.

In other words, use common sense.

Keep your eye on the weather before taking an electric scooter outside.

Strong winds can really slow you down; the same goes for bouts of wet weather. In fact, some electric scooters aren’t waterproof, so you might want to avoid the rain like the plague to avoid breaking your electric scooter altogether.

To recap, the following can affect the power/speed of electric scooters:

Wrapping Up: Investigating The Most Powerful and Fastest Electric Scooters

Electric scooters have made a big impression since making their grand resurgence in recent years.

We remember riding some of the earliest e-scooters back when we were kids. Models that pale in comparison to the likes of the RE90 and Wolf King. None could hold a candle to the fastest electric scooters we’ve touched on in our investigation here.

E-scooters could be more popular than e-bikes; there, we said it. Think about it, electric scooters are a lot safer to ride and cheaper for the most part — as shown with the Turboant listed above.

With that said, if you’re looking for cheap electric scooters under £500, then be sure to check out our guide.

Fast and Powerful Electric Scooter FAQs

In this final section, we’ll be answering some of your frequently asked questions on powerful/fast electric scooters.

Feel free to hit us with a question on social media if you have something else to ask.

Why buy an electric scooter?

E-scooters are great situational modes of transport in that everyone uses them for different reasons. Some use them to commute to work, others, to travel far when on holiday. They’re also a lot safer to ride than an e-bike, in our opinion.

What is the fastest electric scooter in the world?

The Rion RE90 Racing Edition is currently the fastest electric scooter, hitting up to 80mph. It has the potential to travel a lot faster (100mph), only that would raise safety concerns.

What is the best cheap electric scooter?

Understand that you have a lot of options when it comes to cheap electric scooters. If we had to pick the best, we’d have to go with the Pure Air Pro Electric Scooter. It’s a reliable purchase with no right to be as good as it is for how much you pay.

Is it illegal to own an electric scooter in the UK?

It’s not illegal to own an e-scooter, but it is illegal to ride it out in public in the UK. You can only ride your scooter on private land. Rental scooters are 100% legal, which is why you’re seeing more of them occupy certain cities up and down the nation.

The 20 Fastest Electric Scooters You Can Buy in 2022

There are few feelings better than zipping around on a high-performance electric scooter. Whether you’re racing to work in the morning or going for a spin on the weekend, it’s always fun to have some turbo in the tank, ready to be unleashed at any moment.

In 2022, adrenaline junkies now have more options than ever when it comes to ultra-fast electric scooters. Record top speeds are being broken every few months, and it’s now common to find commercial scooters that comfortably push beyond scorching speeds of 60mph.

Of course, measuring top speeds is never an exact science. Numbers vary based on a host of factors including rider weight and road surface. While the entrants in this list are ranked based on their manufacturers’ calculations, we’ve also included real-world estimates for reference.

As well as delivering top end acceleration and speed performance, the dual motors also allow you to tackle hills with ease and maintain momentum whatever the road conditions. The 10-inch pneumatic tyres are designed to give you the ultimate in comfort, traction, and power efficiency from your ride, and combine with the dual suspension brilliantly to help you deal with asphalt and cobblestone surfaces effortlessly. With a range of 50 miles, if you only have a short commute you can easily get a few days’ journeys out of your scooter without the need for a recharge. If you find yourself fully out of juice, the 10 – 12 hours needed for a full recharge makes it easy for you to power up your battery overnight ready for the next day’s journey. Ensure you choose your riding modes to suit your usage; you might get longer out of ECO mode, whereas TURBO mode will get you moving quicker but will have a bigger impact on your battery, too.

Although the Nanrobot D5 is heavy in comparison to other models, it folds down quickly and into a relatively small package, making it easy to store in your car or on public transport.

Speedway 5 – 40 mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • Max 3600W dual hub motor
  • 40mph top speed
  • 75 mile range
  • 4 hours charge time with quick charger, 7 hours charge time with two standard chargers, 4 hours charge time with one standard charger
  • Weighs 70 lbs

This model is the first time a Speedway electric scooter comes with dual motors as standard. As well as being a step up in power from the Speedway 4, the Speedway 5 has seen changes to its design, too, with a strengthened aviation grade aluminium alloy frame aligning with the extra power you get with this ride.

With a dual hub BLDC motor delivering max power of 3600W, with a Speedway 5 you can enjoy incredible acceleration, a top speed of 40mph, and the capability to tackle hilly terrain up to gradients of 37%! The maximum range of 75 miles is hugely impressive, and depending on the road conditions you might be able to travel even further thanks to the regenerative dual braking system, which extends your battery life as well as keeping you safe on the road.

While you’ll need 13 hours to get a full standard charge of your Speedway 5 battery, a fast charging unit will power you up in just four hours and should give you more than enough juice for a single journey.

As well as giving you power in abundance, the Speedway 5 delivers a hugely smooth and comfortable ride, with dual air spring suspension meaning you can absorb substantial shocks even when travelling at top speed. The suspension is complemented by the tubeless tyres, which while robust are also part of an easy wheel system making changes and repairs easy if you ever need to make them.

The Speedway 5 is great for riding whenever you need to travel, but its appearance and design really come to life at night. Featuring head, rear, and side lights for safety, you also get LED Logo mood lighting to show the world how you’re feeling during your journey!

The LCD dashboard and throttle make it easy to control your scooter whilst on the move, allowing you to change power modes as well as view performance data for your Speedway 5.

Mantis PRO – 40 mph top speed

The Mantis PRO comes with a top speed up to 40mph, great specs and features such as motor torque adjustments, dual suspension, full hydraulic dual braking disc system and air filled tires (10″ x 2,5), making it a comfortable ride over a wide variety of terrain.

The Mantis PRO has dual 1000 Watt motors, and you can choose to use one or both motors depending on how far and fast you’d like to go, changing the number of motors from the cockpit as well as choosing between eco and normal mode, meaning that you can adjust the power when you’re in a city to make it more manageable, or put it in turbo mode when you want to go exploring. With both motors turned on the Mantis PRO accelerates really fast and climbs inclines up to 35% with ease!

With a weight of 65 pounds this scooter is lighter than most other electric scooters with similar specs, and while carrying 65 pounds for a long period of time is still no fun, the foldable design means it can be carried in one hand if needed. Two front and rear led lights as well as led stripes on the sides make you easily see and be seen at nights. The Minimotors display is large and bright but for our taste it does stick a bit too much out of the general seamless design of the scooter, but as mentioned this is really a matter of taste.

This Mantis PRO is great for commuting, but it really comes into its own on the weekend, when you can zip around town before going out into the countryside to explore dirt roads and really have some fun. The scooter feels stable at high speeds and the dual suspension means that you can take the scooter on almost all surfaces, which makes it a perfect all-round electric scooter.

Inokim OxO – 40 mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • Dual 1000W motors
  • 40mph top speed
  • 36 mile range
  • 12 – 14 hours charging time with standard charger
  • Weighs 74 lbs

What are you looking for from your electric scooter? If you want power and design aligned with superior ride quality, the Inokim OxO is well worth your consideration.

The most powerful Inokim e-scooter currently available, the OxO harnesses the power of dual 1000W motors to deliver slick acceleration and a top speed of 40mph. The 26Ah LH battery can deliver a range of up to 50 miles if you ride your scooter at slower speeds, but the 36 miles you’ll get while using more of your OxO’s power is impressive all the same.

What brings this scooter into its own is the ability to be ridden both on and off-road, thanks to the pneumatic tyres and adjustable suspension. Whether you’re commuting entirely within the confines of a town or city, or heading on an off-road adventure, this scooter is robust enough to take you wherever you want to go!

From a safety perspective, the hydraulic disc brakes mean you can ride at top speed in confidence you’ll come to a timely stop when you need to. Furthermore, front and rear LED’s make you visible at night or in poorly lit daytime conditions, with plenty of space on the stem to add an additional headlight if you wish.

The OxO delivers an exceptional handling and all-round riding experience, with a wide deck enabling a comfortable stance, and thumb controlled throttle making it easy to ride for even hours at a time. While the new design sees the OxO come in at a weight of 74 lbs, you can still fold it down quickly and easily store it during a non-riding phase of your journey.

Dualtron Thunder – 50 mph top speed

  • 5400 Watt dual hub motors
  • 50mph top speed
  • 75 mile max range
  • Weighs 95 lbs

The Dualtron Thunder is claimed to be the best performing electric scooter in the world. And from our research that seems to be about right. The only reason it isn’t in the 1st position is because the next scooter is just a tad faster, however the Dualtron Thunder has a notably better maximum range at a staggering 75 miles! The specs of the Thunder are as impressive across the board. The 60 volt, 35 AH battery can be charged in around 5 hours with the Dualtron quick charging kit and the scooter can climb a very impressive 47% hill. It’s not just the power and battery that are worth mentioning, the entire scooter is incredibly well made, with some of the best materials and features you will find anywhere. For example, the braking system uses hydraulic brakes with ABS as standard and 160mm disks and the frame and handle are aviation grade 6082-T6 aluminum alloy with the shaft being made from SCM440 steel, and plastic covers.

If you’re looking for one of the absolute highest quality and best performing electric scooters then the Dualtron Thunder is the one to get.

We’ve recently released an article looking at all of Dualtrons range of scooters, including the new Dualtron X! Check it out here.

Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11 – 50 mph top speed

Tied for our number 2 spot is the Kaabo Wolf Warrior. This is a beast of a scooter that is very simmilarly specced to the Dualtron Thunder. The differences that make this stand out is that there are different tire types, one set for street riding and another for off-roading. It also has a slightly better range of 80 miles, rather than 75. But what we really love about scooter is that it is about 700 dollar cheaper than that Dualtron Thunder! Not only this, but it is currently 200 dollars off at FluidFreeRide and they’ll even throw in an extra charger and FREE SHIPPING to continental US.

This is a high speed electric scooter designed for the ultimate on or off road experience. It can reach 50 mph and delivers insane acceleration (road tires recommended for high speed road use). The 35Ah LG battery can last for 80 miles on single charge with eco mode but also delivers a good range for the high speed rides where you’ll be hitting it’s top speed. Its motorcycle grade inverted hydraulic front shock absorbers and rear spring brake allow for a comfortable and safe ride on any terrain. Full hydraulic brakes in combination with an ABS system provide for safe and accurate braking power. It’s not all power though, the Wolf Warrior also offers some utility. It has powerful dual front LEDs that can light up the night and side and rear LEDs ensure optimal visibility from any direction in addition to extra safety.

While the Wolf Warrior’s 101 pounds of weight is certainly not made for portability, it nevertheless folds down for easy transport in your trunk to travel to your favorite off road spots.

In addition to all of this, it has only 7-8h charging time with a second 2A charger that is being included as introductory offer by FluidFreeRide.

If you’re looking for one of the all round best and fastest electric scooters to show off to your friends, then this is the scooter for you.

Now onto the fastest electric scooter that you can buy right now. If you’re looking for the absolute quickest electric scooter then the Nanrobot RS7 is the one you need to buy. It has an insane top speed of 55 mph due to its dual 1600 W motors. It’s maximum range is 55 miles, which is very impressive but is 20 miles less than the Dualtron Thunder. It can, however, climb hills of up to 65 degrees. Another place the Nanrobot really shines is its build quality and features. Its big and looks a bit brash but is made from high quality aluminum and steel with a fairly nice black and red finish. It has hydraulic shock absorption, a wear resistant tire and even has high power LED headlights, is foldable and has a kickstand. This means, that although this is built for performance and a high top speed, it still has the practicality of some scooters that are built specifically for commuting. For more info on Nanrobot as a company, check out their profile on our Complete Guide to Electric Scooters.

This isn’t the only Nanrobot scooter that could have made it onto this list, but for the sake of variety we’ve decided to just include their best. Their other products include the very popular D4 which is more of a mid range scooter but can still manage a top speed of 40mph! All of Nanrobot’s scooters tend to be positively reviewed and offer some of the best value for money out there.

NAMI Burn-E – 60mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 1500W motors
  • 72V 32Ah battery
  • 60mph max speed
  • 90 miles max range
  • 6 hour charge time
  • 47kg weight

Priced very reasonably, the NAMI Burn-E (a.k.a the ‘Viper’) punches well above its weight, rivaling many of the premium names at the other end of this list in terms of specs. There’s a strong case that dollar-for-dollar, this monstrous machine is the pick of the bunch.

Let’s start with those mouth-watering performance numbers. A max range of 90 miles is tough to top anywhere; you’ll be riding for hours before the huge 72V 35Ah Panasonic battery needs to be topped up.

The Burn-E is also one of the fastest electric scooters money can buy. Its advertised top speed of 60mph is no exaggeration; it really can race beyond the dizzy heights of 55mph under favorable conditions. The Viper’s acceleration is also among the best on the market.

fastest, electric, scooters, 2023

Ride quality is another area difficult to find fault with. The responsive throttle allows you to really set the tempo and find your rhythm. Spacious decking and smooth suspension also help to maximize rider comfort.

Braking is a crucial feature of any high-speed vehicle, and here the Burn-E once again rises to the occasion. The Nutt hydraulic brakes deliver excellent stopping power, and this certainly helps you to feel that little bit safer when maxing out the electric scooter.

Outstorm MAXX Pro – 56mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 1600W motors
  • 60V 25Ah battery
  • 56mph max speed
  • 53 miles max range
  • 7-9 hour charge time
  • 46kg weight

The Outstorm MAXX Pro has been around for a little while now, but it’s yet to be displaced from the top 20 list. As one of the cheapest models here, it’s also well worth your attention. But don’t be fooled by the lowly price tag: the MAXX Pro can go toe-to-toe with any electric scooter.

The first thing to note is that the MAXX Pro is known primarily for its offroad capabilities. Equipped with rugged tires, IP65 water resistance, and shock-absorbing suspension, the scooter handles all terrains without breaking a sweat.

But it’s also a beast on the open road, where you’ll get to make the most of its 1600W twin motors and 55mph top speeds. A sizeable max range of 53 miles is likewise impressive, and makes the scooter a genuine candidate for everyday commutes and long trips.

The MAXX Pro’s power is palpable from the off, with decent acceleration despite the scooter’s chunk frame and gravity-defying hill-climbing abilities that will make you the envy of weary pedestrians.

It’s complete with an array of thoughtful design features including a horn, compass, USB port, and sophisticated light system. Most components are also adjustable, enabling riders of all sizes to feel at home behind the handlebars.

Looks are subjective, of course, but this isn’t the most visually appealing scooter. It’s also a heavy-duty machine that weighs in at a cumbersome 46kg—don’t expect to be able to carry it without considerable discomfort.

Zero 11X – 60mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 1600W motor
  • 72V 31.5Ah battery
  • 60mph max speed
  • 90 miles max range
  • 15 hour charge time
  • 59kg weight

The Zero 11X is built like a tank and packed with some serious specs. It pushes the boundaries of performance in virtually all areas. Notably, it’s the first name on the list to break the 60mph mark (in practice, the 11X will hit highs of around 55mph).

If you could sum up the 11X in one word, it would be power. The scooter’s acceleration is a pleasant surprise given its colossal weight; it picks up pace in seconds once the throttle is squeezed.

You’ll also be able to feel the full force of the twin motors when scaling an incline—the 11X’s hill-climbing capability is unrivaled at this price point. Another standout is the max range of 90 miles, though this is probably closer to 60 miles in the real world.

While this scooter is primed for city riding, it’s arguably less suited to offroad terrain than some of the other heavy-duty models in this list. Its chunky tires and smooth suspension hit the mark, but a lack of water resistance makes the 11X a no-go for muddy trail riding.

Another drawback is that unwieldy 59kg weight. You certainly won’t be carrying this scooter up a set of stairs or loading it into the back of a car. If you can live with that, then the 11X is a great scooter.

Dualtron Thunder 2 – 60mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 2700W motors
  • 72V 40Ah battery
  • 105 miles max range
  • 60 mph max speed
  • 26 hour charge time
  • 47kg weight

The Thunder 2 is the updated, turbo-charged version of Minimotors’ much-revered Thunder model. Somehow, the manufacturer manages to surpass what was already a boundary-breaking electric scooter.

The first thing to note is the Thunder 2’s speed upgrade. For the real adrenaline junkies, a peak power of more than 10,000W is available whenever you feel brave enough to activate the new double-click throttle. On full blast, the Thunder 2 will reach about 55mph.

Another highlight is the lung-busting 105 miles max range. In reality, this is around 60 miles per charge—that’s easily one of the furthest distances of any scooter on the market today.

The next upgrade of interest is the new flat-proof pneumatic tires, which offer added traction when traveling at those blood-curdling top speeds. These are complemented by dual rubber suspension and trusty Nutt hydraulic brakes to create a secure ride.

For a scooter with this much muscle, grip tape on the deck would be preferable, though this can easily be added by the rider. The double-click throttle will also take some getting used to as you learn to live with its titanic power.

Turbowheel Phaeton – 60mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 1600W motors
  • 72V 45Ah battery
  • 60mph max speed
  • 80 miles max range
  • 4 hour charge time
  • 59kg weight

The Turbowheel Phaeton is another beast of a scooter, carefully constructed with speed demons in mind. The performance specs are monstrous, but like many other entrants in this list, portability suffers.

With muscular dual motors and a bullish 72V 45Ah battery, it’s no surprise that you get great acceleration, power, and stamina on this machine. Hills are handled with casual ease. On the open road, you can reach sizzling speeds of around 55mph.

The Phaeton also boasts an enviable ride quality. Dual hydraulic brakes, equipped with electronic braking functionality, provide all the stopping power you could ever need. The handling is noticeably responsive and the suspension provides good stability too.

One fairly unique feature is the scooter’s dual-bar stem. This gives the rider more space to attach extra accessories and add to what is already a feature-packed frame, which comes with a built-in damper for added shock absorption and a reliable kickstand.

The Phaeton’s versatility does come at a cost, however. At 59kg, scooters don’t come much heavier than this. To make matters worse, the folding mechanism is a headache to operate. If you need to regularly transport your scooter, look elsewhere.

Dualtron Storm – 62mph top speed

Dualtron Storm

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 3320W motors
  • 72V 31.5Ah battery
  • 62mph max speed
  • 80 miles max range
  • 10 hour charge time
  • 46kg weight

There’s a reason why more Minimotors scooters appear in this list than any other manufacturer; the company knows how to craft a high-performance electric ride, and it does it well. The Dualtron Storm is the perfect example of that.

Not only does the Storm boast frightening speeds that will take you close to the 55mph mark, but it also has one of the strongest ranges on the market. You should be able to get about 45 miles of juice even without riding particularly conservatively.

If you want to extend that, you can always bring a second battery. The scooter’s removable battery feature is a real selling point, allowing riders to effectively double their range by replacing the first battery when it runs low.

The Storm is also a lot of fun to use, and not just because of its monstrous performance specs. The adjustable rubber suspension, grippy deck, and vibrant LED light system bring security and style to the party.

It’s hard to find faults with the scooter, but if you’re a tall rider, you may have some discomfort handling the relatively low stem. Like many of the other names on this list, it isn’t particularly light either.

Kaabo Wolf King GT – 62mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 2000W motors
  • 72V 35Ah battery
  • 62mph max speed
  • 90 miles max range
  • 13-15 hour charge time
  • 52kg weight

The Wolf King is Kaabo’s flagship model and the GT is its most powerful iteration yet. Exceptional performance, world-class build quality, and a highly competitive price tag make this scooter worthy of consideration for any premium buyer.

Range and top speed are the first two things that jump out. The Wolf King GT really is true to its advertised top speed, pushing beyond the 60mph mark under favorable conditions. The range falls slightly short at a real-world estimate of around 55 miles, which is nevertheless remarkable.

Kaboo has made about a dozen upgrades on the GT, but few are more valuable than the progressive throttle control. This helps to tame the scooter’s immense power, bringing a much-needed sense of smoothness to the Wolf King GT’s whirlwind acceleration.

Unsurprisingly, the GT crushes hills with ease and its Zoom hydraulic brakes provide serious stopping power. Puncture-proof pneumatic tires and brand-new IPX5 water resistance mean you can hit the trails with confidence.

Thoughtful display features and a state-of-the-art light system round off what is an incredible piece of engineering. Something has to give, of course, and it’s the Wolf King GT’s portability that suffers.

Dualtron X2 – 68mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 2 x 4150W motors
  • 72V 42Ah battery
  • 68mph max speed
  • 80 miles max range
  • 10 hour charge time
  • 66kg weight

As commercial scooters go, they don’t get much better than the Dualtron X2. This heavyweight beast covers all bases for those with a bottomless budget: speed, range, functionality, and versatility.

Minimotors made sure to pull out all the stops for performance on this one, equipping the X2 with the highest-spec motors and battery around. Top speeds well above 60mph won’t be bested unless you look at racing scooters. A real-world range of about 45 miles is another major plus.

No corners are cut on the ride quality either. The adjustable hydraulic suspension absorbs bumps for fun while the front and rear brakes bring blistering speeds down to a halt within a few feet.

The scooter’s ultra-wide tubeless tires are also top of the range. Grippy and firm, they’re perfectly suitable for off-road riders that are ritually drawn to trails and other types of rough terrain.

If you’re only here for performance, look no further than the X2. However, if portability is a requirement, you’ll need to consider other options. As the heaviest scooter in this list, it’s only viable for ground-level storage.

Weped SST – 80mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 72V 45Ah battery
  • 80 miles max range
  • 80mph max speed
  • 5 hour charge time
  • 60kg weight

The Weped SST is no normal electric scooter. This racing machine is designed specifically to tear up the track at hair-raising speeds; it’s certainly not the kind of scooter you use to travel to the grocery store.

From the off, the SST’s acceleration blows you away. In under seven seconds, you can expect to hit 60mph—that’s fast enough to challenge some gas-powered cars! If you’re feeling especially brave, this racing scooter will take you up to 75mph.

Fortunately, the SST has the stopping power to match its frightening pace. Weped has opted to use its brand of brakes on this electric scooter and they hold up well without generating any jerky feedback, even when decelerating from breakneck speeds.

Wide tires and dual suspension handle small road imperfections, but the SST isn’t recommended for rougher terrains such as grass or mud trails. Ultimately, It’s made for the race track; if you’re after a commuter scooter, look elsewhere.

Nonetheless, the scooter still has a lot to offer beyond its searing speed. It’s well-built and offers great range, which is handy considering ultra-fast scooters eat through their battery like nobody’s business. Overall, the SST is a fine piece of engineering.

Rion RE90 – 100mph top speed

Quick Specs

  • 6V 30Ah battery
  • 60 miles max range
  • 100mph max speed

Known to many as ‘the Bugatti of electric scooters’, the Rion RE90 is not for the faint-hearted. With mind-boggling speeds that rival most traditional vehicles, the RE90 takes the top spot in our 2022 list of the fastest electric scooters—and by some distance too.

It’s so fast, in fact, that Rion had to cap the speed that riders can actually travel at for safety reasons. While the RE90 is capable of hitting 100mph, you’ll only be able to reach 80mph, which, I think we can all agree, is pacy enough.

As a Hyper-scooter, the RE90 has virtually no suspension, which means you should only be looking to use it on well-paved roads. The dual-powered disc brakes are responsive, and provide the necessary stopping power for such a blistering machine.

Arguably the most impressive feature of the RE90 isn’t its record-breaking speed, but its weight. At 31kg, this is a genuinely portable scooter that’s at least 20kg lighter than its competitors. Its relatively low weight also gives the RE90 a much sleeker feel to other premium scooters.

There’s no doubt about it: this is the current pacemaker in the electric scooter industry. Such impressive engineering takes time, though; if you’re in the market for an RE90, you’ll have to wait 90 days for the LA-based Rion team to build the scooter from scratch and ship it out.

Final Thoughts

For the second year running, the Weped SST and Rion RE90 continue to lead the pack as the fastest electric scooters on the market. They are racing scooters after all.

Notably, though, high-performance commercial scooters are getting quicker, with more options that push beyond the 60mph mark emerging for the everyday rider.

As manufacturers continue to innovate, new models will inevitably raise the bar once again and rewrite what is considered possible with electric scooters. For top speeds—and the electric scooter space as a whole—the only way is up.

With the improvements in battery technology and electric motors, the time is quickly coming where electric vehicles are matching the performance of their traditionally fuelled counterparts. Tesla is doing it for the car, and many companies are continually improving electric capabilities on two wheels. For example, the Lightning LS-218 is the world’s fastest motorcycle, gas or electric. In addition to this a small Dutch company called Bolt are working on their product – the Appscooter – a high tech, efficient and speedy electric moped that directly rivals any gas powered mopeds on the market. All these improvements are happening in the world of electric scooters as well and have resulted in the record for the fastest electric scooters being broken multiple times.

What is the fastest electric scooter?

The fastest electric scooter currently available is the RION2 RE 90 with a top speed of 100 MPH.

Which are the best-known brands for fast electric scooters?

The best-known brands for fast electric scooters include companies such as Minimotors, Nanrobot, Mercane and Inokim.

What speed is allowed for electric scooters to be street legal?

If an electric scooter has a top speed of no more than 20 mph and a motor power of less than 750W it will be classed as street legal in the United States. This means that it will not require license or registration in most states. However, there are different speed limits in different countries. Sometimes manufacturers will also intentionally limit the speed when they ship to certain countries in order to comply with local laws.

What factors make an electric scooter go fast?

The most important factors that make an electric scooter go fast are:

  • Power of your motor: A higher Wattage (W) value generally means a faster scooter
  • Battery: Higher Amp-hours (AH) or Watt-hours (Wh) indicate the ability to store and hence supply the motor with more energy
  • Terrain: Inclines or bad road conditions will obviously reduce the speed of your electric scooter
  • Weight of the rider: The heavier the rider, the slower your electric scooter can go

How much does a fast electric scooter cost?

Fast electric scooters range from approx. 600- 5000 USD.

At the cheaper end you will find scooters with speeds around 25 mph, while at the higher end you can expect to get top speeds up to 60 mph.

Are fast electric scooters safe?

There is no doubt that higher speeds require more experience and skills, which is why we don´t recommend none of the electric scooters presented in this post as first-time scooters. To further reduce the risks of being injured you should obviously always wear a helmet and protective gear as well as adapt your speed to the traffic circumstances.

What are important factors to consider when buying a fast electric scooter?

When buying a fast electric scooter it is really important to pay attention to the range, tires and suspension and to make sure those meet your requirements and how you want to use the scooter (commuting, long vs. short distances, off-road etc).

Thanks for this wonderful article about the fastest electric scooters available on the market. This article is very helpful for a beginner like me, you have included all the best product in your list. After reading, I have decided to pick Uberscoot 1600 Watt. What do you say about it?

The Uberscoot is fast and a lot of fun! I’m sure you’ll have a great experience with it. Thanks for commenting!

Curious if anyone has any info on the “Dualped” line owned by Chris Dallas out of Ontario, Canada. These scooters are capable of speeds in the 50-60mph area and have something like 3200V batteries which allows the scooter to run for 40-50 miles. Crazy fast. Heavy but I am looking to buy for enjoyment around neighborhood and not too concerned about traveling with it. Wondering on the quality of batteries, scooter construction, motors in the wheels, warranty and general info like that. Anyone with insight, I would love to hear what you have to say. Thanks

Hello my name is Kevin I’m interested to buy WEPED SS SCOOTER. Can you help to tell where to buy it ? Thank you very much Kevin

Hi Kevin, they are sold out pretty much everywhere. I recommend to contact Weped directly and ask them if you can still order this one, as they have released the Weped GT in the meantime and distribution is focusing on this model.

I saw that an electric scooter made in Los Angeles by a company called Rion is the fastest one out now. It can reach speeds up to about 85mph. Check it out on YouTube. It is extremely pricey and amazing!

Hi John, at the time of writing of the original post the WEPED was not available yet, but we have now included it in our 2020 update!

Hello, Loved the review, can you post some updated links on where to buy the uberscoot? I have looked on amazon and they are out of stock? I need to buy one fast and some shops or links would be great. Thanks for the help.

Hi Amaan, thanks for your comment! Unfortunately this model seems to be currently out of stock everywhere and we don’t know when it will be available again. Sorry for not being able to help more.

Hello Everyone, This is a fun article to read and thanks for taking the time to post it on the internet. The Rion Electric Scooters is one of the fastest scooters in the world. But I’m curious to know why you didn’t post the Dualtron Electric Scooter? In my opinion, the Dualtron X would be the 2nd fastest scooter in the world, by having a top speed of over 70 mphRandall

Hi Randall, thanks for your comment! The Dualtron X is indeed one of the fastest scooters, however according to what we know the speed is somewhere between 50-60 mph, which is still below the Rion2 or Weped SS.
