Best Electric Dirt Bikes for Kids in 2023: Which Kids Dirt Bikes Should You Get?
Looking for the best electric dirt bikes for kids this year? Look no further because Mud Bike’s got you covered. Here we show you the top 11 electric dirt bikes for kids of various ages, carefully handpicked using a precise criteria. Read on to find out what these bikes are all about.
How We Chose the Electric Dirt Bikes for Kids
A solid list starts with a solid ranking scorecard. We cover everything from looks and technology, to customer service. We’ve grouped these factors into eight categories:
Build Quality
We take into account the materials the bike’s frame, fairings and other components are made of. We also give plus points for components that are considered high-end in the motorcycle industry, as well as special features like having a complete suspension system.
Responsiveness
This factor covers each bike’s throttle and brake response, as well as handling. We also add points for bikes with single-gear transmissions and instant acceleration.
Aesthetics
This section comprises the bikes’ looks and design originality. We take note of unique details and add extra points to bikes with decals.
Cool Factor
Like aesthetics, we lay out points based on how appealing the bike looks or if it has any reference to pop culture (such as an electric dirt bike that looks like a speeder from Star Wars).
Speed
We add points based on the bike’s standing torque and top speed, as well as the duration in which the bike reaches its top speed.
Range
We take into account the bike’s battery capacity or hours of operation as well as operational distance. We score bikes higher for special features such as brake regen and extra battery packs.
Weight
The lighter the bike is, the more points it’ll get, and vice-versa. Lighter bikes are easier to control and are usually better offroad.
After-Sales Support
Last but not least, we also take note of the range of services and responsiveness the manufacturer or dealer can offer a customer after he/she purchases a bike. Plus points for reliable services, warranty support, quick-replies to inquiries, and visitable locations.
Choosing the Right Electric Dirt Bikes for Your Kid
Pairing the right bike to the right kid is extremely important. This requires sizing you kid up in terms of ability and physical stature. Here’s how we recommend how to pick the best electric dirt bike for your kid:
Size Your Kid Up
Choosing a suitable dirt bike that fits your kid’s height comes first. Your child’s safety and comfortability in riding electric dirt bikes depends on how the bike fits them.
Generally, to know the bike size that fits your child’s height, simply make them sit on it and ensure that they can flat-foot the bike. This works if you have physical access to the bike, in a dealership for example. One way to remotely find out the perfect bike size for your kid is to compare between the bikes’ seat heights and your kid’s actual or expected height.
Here’s a nifty table we made to assist you in picking an electric dirt bike based on your kid’s height.

Best Kids’ Electric Dirt Bike: Apollo DB-10 Electric Motorcycle
The Apollo DB-10 electric dirt bike is one of the best kids dirt bikes. It features an all-terrain front wheel with adjustable suspension, giving your kid plenty of control over their ride. Plus, with its powerful brushless motor, impressive range and top speed of 25 miles per hour, it’s perfect for getting them off the beaten path.
On the downside, this dirt bike is pretty heavy—it weighs in at around 100 pounds—so you’ll need some help getting it where you want to go. And even though it has adjustable suspension settings, if your little rider likes big jumps and tricks they may find themselves bouncing around too much.
Overall, the Apollo DB-10 is a one of the best dirt bikes for 12 year olds who are ready to take their dirt biking to the next level. Its powerful motor and adjustable suspension give plenty of control and power over the ride, making it perfect for getting off the beaten path. The Kuberg Cross X-Force Pro 50 is a great choice for those looking for a lightweight ride with no compromise on performance.
It features a powerful motor, manual clutch and rear wheel drive that make it incredibly maneuverable.
But what really sets this bike apart from the competition is its impressive wet weight of just 40kg – making it one of the lightest electric vehicles in its class.
The downside? Well, you definitely won’t be able to take your feet off the ground while riding – but hey, that’s why they call them dirt bikes.
So if you’re after something small, nimble and lightweight without sacrificing power or stability, then the Cross X-Force Pro 50 makes an excellent option. Just don’t forget to put your feet down before you come to a stop.
3rd Place Dirt Bike for Child / Toddler: Kuberg Trial Hero

Husqvarna EE 5 Kids Motocross Electric Dirt Bike
The Husqvarna EE 5 is a pit bike that packs a punch despite its small size.

It has an automatic clutch, adjustable suspension and even comes with a tab quickview which gives you instant access to the bike’s settings like speed limits and ride mode selection.
There are some cons to consider as well though – namely fuel consumption.
This is probably one of the biggest drawbacks if you plan on using the EE 5 regularly as it can use up quite a bit of battery juice depending on how often you take it out for rides.
Additionally, there have been reports that some components might need to be replaced more frequently than desired.
All in all, the Husqvarna EE 5 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable pit bike that offers great value for money.

The KTM SX E5 is a great choice for parents looking to buy a non gas dirt bike for their toddler. What’s not to love? It offers an exciting ride, low emission levels and free shipping! But, before you commit to the purchase, it’s important to review some of the pros and cons.
On the plus side this bike has excellent handling capabilities which make it perfect for tackling tough terrain or taking on sharp corners at speed.
Plus, its lightweight frame means it won’t weigh down your child as they’re learning how to ride. And with its low emission levels you can be sure that your little one is riding in an environmentally friendly way.

With its great handling capabilities and free shipping, this could be just the bike your toddler needs to get them started on their motocross journey.
Best Electric Dirt Bikes for 14 Year Olds
Lots of electric dirt bikes for kids and no lists for best electric dirt bikes for 14-year-olds specifically? Yeah, I feel you. So I dug in the dirt and went to all kinds of places to learn more about electric dirt bikes that 14-year-olds can ride so you don’t have to.
So what did I manage to dig up? Here’s a list of electric dirt bikes that’ll most likely fit your 14-year-olds perfectly along with their pros and cons.
Segway X260
The Segway X260 is a medium electric dirt bike better suited for narrow off-road trails and tracks. The bike’s 31.1-inch (max) adjustable seat height allows both teens and adults to safely ride the bike.
The Segway X260 light electric dirt bike incorporates a dual drive system which uses a belt paired with a chain to propel the bike. This increases the torque at the wheels to provide more power.
The Sur Ron Storm Bee is a full-size electric motocross dirt bike built for both professionals and beginner riders. It’s a bike for adults but it’s got a 36-inch seat height that pretty much suits taller teens. The Sur Ron Storm Bee sports a traditional dirt bike look (or close enough at least).
Judging from the details on the table, the Luna Cycle Sur Ron Storm Bee performs pretty well when it comes to power and range. Its 260-lb weight isn’t bad for a pedalled bike. I guess all you gotta watch out for is the price tag.
The Segway X160 is a light electric dirt bike made for shallow dirt tracks. The bike’s medium size allows both teens and adults to ride it, despite Segway’s adult-only recommendation. The bike features smartphone connectivity, built-in headlights, adjustable frame length seat height, and a modular frame (which means you can customize it however you like. Nice right?).
The Delfast Prime 2.0 is a hybrid electric dirt bike made for traversing any mild terrain. It’s got an adjustable seat height that varies between 29” and 36” so riders of all sizes between teens and adults can ride it.
The Delfast Prime 2.0’s best feature is its 236-mile range on Eco mode. The Prime 2.0 holds the record for an electric dirt bike with the longest range.
The bike also features street legal accessories. So you can ride to your favorite track or trail using main city roads. Just don’t forget to gear up.
The Stealth H-52 “Hurricane” is a lightweight but high-power medium size electric dirt bike perfectly fit for both teens and adults (although stealth recommends the bike only for adults). Unlike other similar Stealth models — the Bomber and Fighter, it is not a pedal-assist bike and rather features pegs to support the feet while riding and only runs using a throttle.
For modern motocross fans, the H-52 should be interesting. It performs exceptionally well in all kinds of weather and terrain. This is thanks to an info-dense LED display, great suspension, long rear shock travel, and airtight motor and battery.
The Razor MX500 is a full-suspension electric dirt bike made for teens. The MX500 bears the authentic look of a real dirt bike.
This bike features all the essential components of an electric dirt bike such as a twist throttle, hand brake levers for its front and rear disc brakes, and a motor paired with mid-capacity batteries. The Razor MX500 also includes a retractable kickstand for your parking needs.
MotoTec 36v
The MotoTec 36v electric dirt bike is a great fun machine for 13-year-olds and older. This bike bears a legitimate dirt bike look and functionality with its rugged profile and complete suspension.
Despite its generic components, Mototec’s 36v electric dirt bike features useful add-ons such as key-operated ignition, adjustable handlebars, and a key-lock-operated ride mode selector with three ride modes located on its motor.
Razor Dirt Rocket MX350
The Razor Dirt Rocket MX350 is a rigid-tail (no rear suspension) kids electric dirt bike meant for 9-year-olds and older.
The Razor Dirt Rocket MX350 kids electric dirt bike sports the traditional dirt bike design. This bike features all the basic parts of a beginner’s electric dirt bike such as a twist throttle, a left-hand lever actuated rear brake, and even a kickstand. However, no front brake and rear suspension.
KTM SX E5 Electric Dirt Bike For Kids
The KTM SX E5 is basically a mini version of KTM’s Freeride E-XC (an electric dirt bike for adults). It’s an aggressively styled electric dirt bike made for kids of 11 years and older.
Also, because of its powerful motor and high top speed, the KTM SX E5 isn’t your typical e-dirt bike for amateurs. It requires a lot of practice and presence of mind to safely use on the off-road track.
Husqvarna EE 5 Kids Electric Dirt Bike
The Husqvarna EE 5 is an e-motocross dirt bike that fits kids between 3 and 6 years old. The EE5 dishes out power equivalent to a 50cc petrol dirt bike and takes up to 2 hours of operation before needing to recharge.
The Husqvarna EE 5 sports a minimalist setup — unexpected from a world-class motorcycle giant’s first product in the electric bike industry. The EE 5 bears mostly generic Husqvarna components.
Conclusion
Remember that when searching for the BEST electric dirt bikes for 14-year-olds, you should also learn more about the essential electric dirt bike gear that your teen needs. You can start by checking out some of the best safety gear for your child’s electric dirt biking needs.

Benefits of buying an Electric Dirt Bike for Kids
It’s never been easier to get your kids started out in the dirt bike hobby from a very young age. There is really no better way to start them off than with one of these affordable little electric dirt bikes. For starters, these bikes are incredibly forgiving on the new rider. Due to the lack of an internal combustion engine, there are no hot surfaces to get burnt on. (Who here hasn’t dropped a bike and landed a leg right on the exhaust before? Anyone?)
Speaking of dropping the bike, most of these bikes are insanely light. That means your little one should be able to pick it back up if they happen to topple over. The light and nimble frames on these bikes are the perfect platform for kids to quickly build basic rider skills. Over time, this builds the confidence necessary to move up to larger, 50cc gas powered bikes.
Another huge benefit to these bikes is that their electric motors make very little noise. So even in suburbia, your kid can still get out and rip around the backyard without the neighbors getting mad.
What to look at when comparing bikes
To make your comparisons easier in this article, we’re going to break the bikes up into three distinct groups based on one factor: the size of the electric motor. Generally, the size of the motor will dictate important performance metrics such as maximum speed, max rider weight, and the overall size of the bike. The larger the motor, the higher these limits usually are. The table below gives you a quick look at the basics.
Engine Size | 6V | 24V | 36V |
Max Speed | 3-5 mph | 12-15 mph | 15-20 mph |
Max Rider Weight | 40-50 lbs | 140-150 lbs | 160-170 lbs |
As you can see, the size of the electric motor greatly influences the performance you can expect from the bike. Be sure to consider this factor prior to pulling the trigger on a bike. Obviously, you should be leaning toward a 24V or 36V bike if you want something your kid can grow into in the near future.
Razor’s Lineup of Electric Dirt Bikes for Kids
Razor USA LLC has come a long way since they were founded in California back in 2000. Since those shin-killing metal kick scooters put them on the map at the turn of the century, they’ve expanded into numerous other product categories including an excellent selection of electric dirt bikes. For this article, we’ll do a deep-dive into three of their bikes that fall below the 500 threshold, going from smallest to largest.
Best Electric Dirt Bike for Kids: Razor MX350
We picked the MX350 as our all-around favorite of this lineup. We love Razor’s products and this bike has proven itself as an excellent value since it was introduced in 2015.
Referred to as the “Dirt Rocket”, the MX350 is an absolute killer starter bike for your little one. The 24V is just enough to keep kids from quickly getting bored with bike, while keeping speeds in check. After 4-6 hours of charging time, run time is up to half an hour. It’s max speed around 15 miles per hour.
Razor’s product designers did a really great job of setting this bike up in a way that allows kids to quickly grasp rider basics. There’s a fully operational twist throttle at the right wrist, as well as a hand-operated rear brake. Getting the bike started is a breeze with the flip of a switch located just in front of the seat (where the gas cap would be on an internal combustion bike).
While the MX350 comes with a pretty great set of 12″ pneumatic (air-filled) off-road tires, you will find it lacking when it comes to suspension. In fact, there is none. The double crown fork in the front has no internal springs and no travel, and there is no rear suspension of any sort. In other words, the bike isn’t built for any kind of extreme terrain. But it is still easily our favorite electric dirt bike for kids.
The close cousin: the Razor MX400
Want to know everything about the MX400? Just go re-read our review of the MX350! The two bikes are identical in nearly every way when it comes to functionality and performance. (This is very similar to the KTM 690 SMC vs. Husqvarna 701 debate that always crops up.) Building upon the success of the MX350, Razor later unveiled the MX400, which is essentially the same bike, with a little bit of variation in style and design.
Razor MX350 vs. Razor MX350
- Styling: The MX350 has a boxier design with lots of sharp, straight lines that give it an aggressive modular look. The lower casing that houses the battery is rectangular in shape. The MX400 on the other hand looks more similar to a traditional motocross bike, from the k-shaped fairings to the number plates. Instead of the boxy battery cover, the plastic casing is stamped to resemble the look of a gasoline engine and crankcase cover.
- Power switch location: While the power switch for the MX350 is located on top of what would otherwise be the gas tank, the redesign for the MX400 relocated the switch down on the lower left side of the bike, close to where you’d expect to find a fuel petcock on a gasoline powered bike.
- Color options: The MX350 is available in just black and red, while the MX400 color options were expanded to lime green, red, white, or black.
A Bigger, Faster Razor Electric Dirt Bike: the SX500
Let’s face it, kids grow up fast. Perhaps you’re looking for something a little bigger to give your kid something to grow into as they learn to ride. Or if we’re being honest, you might just want something with enough power for you to tool around on from time to time. Allow us to introduce the Razor SX500.
The SX500 is the perfect middle ground between the MX350 and the heavier duty MX650, which is a little outside the scope of this sub-500 rundown. Powered by a beefy 36V 500W variable speed motor, the SX500 delivers respectable performance for the money. With front and rear disc brakes, functional full suspension, and 14″ wheels, this electric dirt bike was literally built to feel like a genuine old school gas model, and is ready to handle just about anything a new rider can throw at it. If you’re looking for an electric dirt bike for kids that you can also ride from time to time, this is it!
As far as styling is concerned, its a little like Henry Ford with the Model T back in the day. You can have any color, as long as it’s black. Or in this case, Kawasaki green with special edition graphics designed in partnership with seven-time supercross Champion, Jeremy McGrath. Razor really knocked it out of the park with this one when it comes to building a safe starter bike that will give your child the feeling of a real motocross bike.
Off-brand 6V Electric Dirt Bikes for Kids to Consider
Now that we’ve covered Razor’s best electric dirt bikes for kids under 500, now let’s dive into some of the off-brand options out there. In most cases, what you’ll find here is a variety of online suppliers selling the exact same bike (usually under different, odd-sounding names like ‘Great Buys Now’). All of these bikes are sourced from the same overseas manufacturers and private labeled by suppliers who sell them at retail.
The great thing about these bikes is obvious – they’re cheap. Most are going to run you around 100, or even less in some cases. This is certainly a plus when you’re trying to teach a brand new rider. Inevitably, they’re going to crash. They’re going to drop the bike over and over. Let’s face it, it’s going to take a good deal of abuse. And at the end of it all with one of these bikes, you won’t be out a great deal of money when it gets beat up.
Not only are they super affordable, they’re packed full of cool features your little rider will love…
Generally, you’re going to find the same performance and benefits across all of these off-brand bikes. They will usually have some pretty cool plastics, graphics, and neat features like engine sounds and working lights. Most will go up to around 4-5 mph and carry a rider up to about 45 pounds. Many come with training wheels and are very easy to operate.
There are also off-brand 36V models
Just as there are a variety of retailers selling off-brand 6V electric dirt bikes, there are just as many out there advertising 36V variations. These are more similar in size to the SX500 in size and performance, and are likewise tailored toward the taller, older rider. They’re generally well optioned with features like disc brakes, twist grip throttles, and adjustable speed settings.
At the end of the day though, most of the bikes in this category aren’t much cheaper than the SX500. So in our opinion, you would be better off to just shell out another 30-40 to get the Razor. Their bikes have withstood the test of time, and the customer service you get from Razor will always beat any of these private labeler online retailers.
