An outbreak of H1N1 Influenza has been declared for Saint Lucia following he confirmation of several cases of the disease and one fatality. The virus which causes H1N1 Influenza spreads easily from human to human and therefore has the potential to give rise to a severe epidemic, with devastating human, economic and social impacts, if not quickly and effectively controlled. The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Family Affairs, National Mobilization, Human services and Gender Relations is therefore seeking to engage key sections of the community in the implementation of strategies to control the disease.Â
In this regard the Ministry is desirous of meeting with a representative of your company on 30th November, 2009, to provide you with an update on the current measures that are being taken to fight the outbreak and share strategies which your company can implement to safeguard its work environment. To facilitate this very important workshop, the SLHTA invites its members to send one representative to attend on Monday 30th November, 2009 at the Palm Haven Hotel from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Registration forms should be completed by your participant and faxed to the SLHTA at 452-7967 no later than Thursday 26th November 2009. Â
